Great vid! Thank you for showing how the Church has the authority to administer the sacraments! Your overview was perfect. Would you consider making a video on the topic of Church authority at the lower levels? This could be a part of your marriage sacrament video or it could be a separate video on just church authority alone.
Here’s why I ask: many Protestants view marriage as biblically rooted but often opt for civil marriage. As a result, needing to go to the Church for an annulment feels authoritarian to them. It would be important to explain the divine authority behind granting annulments and the sacramental nature of this process.
I find it challenging to approach this topic. While there is plenty of content on papal authority, objections frequently arise from our Protestant brethren regarding these lower ecclesiastical matters. They argue that such involvement deviates from the Church's original purpose, especially due to historical controversies during the medieval era. Theories suggest that the Church used fear and claims of absolute heavenly granted power to manipulate people and maintain peace, even sending people on crusades. Then they will use how the church has had bad popes who use this money for prostitutes and lavishness.
Then if you object to this with the bad pope argument shows the divine powers, they point out that the longevity of an institution alone doesn't validate its authority, noting that other institutions have also endured over time. While we can reference scripture to support this claim, such as the promise that the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church, I'm looking for a more comprehensive approach to defend the Church's authority despite the history through the lens of these lower levels.
I have no clue how to address this. Redeemed Zoomer mentioned John Henry Newman's work on the development of church doctrine but disagrees with his conclusions. I haven't read it myself so I don’t know if it applies nor have I found videos on the topic so I rly don’t know. Just a place to start for addressing church authority. No pressure for this.
Regardless, you remind me of a redeemed Zoomer for Catholics, and your voice is much needed in this discussion. Hope your channel grows! Thank you, and God bless!

Always interesting to hear alternate opinions, from an Orthodox. Out of curiosity, do you consider yourself a traditional Catholic or Novus Ordo? 500th sub btw :)

@@fringeflix ayy thanks for the sub! Although I attend a novus ordo, i prefer the TLM, but I’ve been to some very reverent novus ordos that were amazing.
