I returned to the Catholic Church earlier this year. I was divorced and remarried. I have repented, but at the same time, if it weren't for my second husband...who passed away 9 years ago...I would not have found my way back to God. I am currently doing the Bible in a Year with Father Mike Schmitz, and I attend mass daily. I have given my life and heart to God. I now understand that the Catholic church teaches what you need to hear. Not what you want to hear. I love that this priest isn't afraid to tell us this.
Beautiful homily dear Father Chris! I'm fighting to get my marriage back. Unfortunately I had to sign the divorce papers, but I don't care about them because I know my sacrament is for life. I live in chastity, wear my wedding ring, honoring God and my wife with an intense life of prayer and sacraments. I know that if I'm faithful to God and persevere I'll see the glory of God and I pray every day for that. I have a petition for you 😇... Can you offer a monthly or weekly Holy Mass asking for the infinite mercy of Our Lord to restore both hearts of every single marriage in the world who's separated or divorced? I am a convert, and actually converted in my second marriage outside the Catholic faith, but my husband divorced me because I became Catholic- he was a hard core Democrat, and not a practicing Christian of any sort. There were many abuses as well, but remained dedicated. But, it really was nothing more than a verbal agreement that no longer existed. What a shocking thing to realize we live our lives in a false sense of marriage for most people of the world. 🌎 Ive been divorced for 5 years, and have given my life to Christ. Live my life in prayer and atonement for my sins. So sad. When all you wanted was what God really wants for us. Praise to You Lord, despite our pain on earth.
We, as Catholics, need to hear about marriage in the church. My children have had multiple marriages, which I can't accept. They are all Catholic. I can only Pray for God's intercession to bring them back to the Sacraments. It's very hurtful, and all I can do is pray. Thank You Fr Chris.

Such a good but tough topic. I am recently divorced. Lord knows I gave it my all. She just could never be faithful. After so many affairs I had to make the toughest decision of my life. One thing I have learned is just because you get a divorce doesn't mean the problems end. You just have new ones now. You still have to co-parent and deal with each other. Make sure you marry the right person and pray hard about it.

@@shortferal she was definitely chronically unfaithful to me before and during our marriage. I kept thinking people can change but sometimes they don't. I stayed in the marriage for 8 yrs like this. It was hard. Now that I am divorced I see how manipulative she was.

I was a battered, stay at home wife for 33 years. My husband told me that if I ever told anyone about the abuse, he would kill our 11 living children. I finally made a 911 call on November 22, 2018, after he went after our youngest child. He was arrested, and on December 17, 2018, he filed for divorce. I did not want the divorce. I only wanted for my husband to receive help. I have not remarried. Thank you for this explanation.

I thought my my wife was unfaithful, and I was CRUSHED, we went to a man for marriage counseling, he was a weak white 60 year old bhudist...He had NO CONCEPT of the SACREMENT of CATHOLIC MARRIAGE. I sought a Deacon in our Parish,and said "I am NOT a marriage counselor, But your wife and you read this book TOGETHER !..We did as told and 8 Forgave her...That was 6 years ago.The title of the book is called "FORGIVENESS "Thank GOD for that Book,Thank GOD for Deacon Jack!
I had to divorce because of spousal abuse, physically, verbally and emotionally. Was terrified for my well being. I also had an annulment and am remarried to a Catholic man in the Catholic Church. I believe I had every right to divorce because abuse should not be tolerated in a marriage.
God would never want you to stay in such a marriage of abuse. He is merciful and loving. You did the correct behavior of leaving your spouse - obtaining an annulment and chose to remarry in the church. God bless you.
Was getting an annulment very difficult? I always thought that even though abuse by one party is abhorrent, the innocent party has to prove that the abuser’s behaviour did not just develop after the marriage, but had been there even beforehand, thus making the marriage invalid in the first place, since the guilty one had never had the attitude necessary for making a true commitment to the marriage. The guilty one may well have hidden their true abusive tendencies beforehand, so the innocent one went into the marriage with confidence, not realising this. I believe it’s called “error of character “, and makes the marriage invalid from the beginning, thus justifying an annulment.
i remember me and my mom would tell my brother to get married by the church because he was so far away from the sacraments. one of his kids weren't baptized, the other hadn't done her first communion (she is confirmation age) and were like ok we'll just stop telling him, but we prayed immensely for him. i prayed to God to get him closer to the sacraments and guess what. this year all on the same month my brother asked me to baptize his child (on the same day i was to baptize my son and my other Godson) and my niece did her first communion oh and my brother got divorced (He wasn't married by the church) he had it hard but he takes his kids every sunday to Church and they love it. i pray he finds a Good wife. and also pray for my mother as she is battling satge 4 breast cancer. thank you all and bless you all

I wish our priests had the courage to address this in their homilies. My husband left twenty two years ago after adultery and drinking. A most difficult teaching indeed. Many valid reasons to get away from a spouse. Many woman would still be alive today if they had and children who would still have their mother.
To those who are divorced in pain broken feeling shattered. Remember divorce is not the unforgivable sin . God loves you ,never leave the church seek a priest .your loved .

Not all "traditional" Catholics hold such conviction. Please do not generalize them. One or two or 10 individuals do not make up all traditional Catholics. Those who are properly catechized and who bothered to study the Catholic Church's teaching certainly has a better understanding.
I separated from my husband because he was an alcoholic,verbally abusive and cheated on me. I prayed to God to heal us . I would have stayed if he only tried to stop this behaviour but he didn’t. He has been living with another women for the last few years. He still drinks and has moved on to be physically abusive with her. I suffer from the trauma of my marriage every day. I have no intention of remarrying and am scared to get into another relationship. I am catholic and try to attend church but, I struggle with my place now. I feel like a failure and sometimes I feel like I’m being judged because I am alone. My culture and religion is centred around family. I feel like an outsider . My children have also suffered. They say they are happy we are no longer together, but I see how they suffer Coming from a broken home.
Hi dear, tell your children that you don't have a broken home because the center of your house has Jesus ❤ so never think of getting lost. Say the rosary daily, monthly confession, and attending the mass will strengthen you. If you can participate in a catholic inner healing retreat. May our loving Jesus bless you and your beautiful children 🙇♂️
Keep in mind this: What people say versus what Jesus say. He never said blessed are those with intact and perfect families, what He did say though: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." God became flesh for people like you, not for those who live perfect like Pharisees. Jesus came for the broken, the struggling, the humble - not for those who live self-righteously. He became flesh for people like you. You are blessed to need Him. Your children are blessed to need Him. God uses our pain, brokenness and wounds and transform them into something good. He doesn't waste our pain but uses it to shape us, draw us closer to Him, and bring about His greater purpose. In His hands, our struggles become the very tools of His grace! God does not waste our pain. He uses it as a means of sanctification, conforming us more closely to Christ. Through His grace, our struggles become the very tools of His mercy, transforming our brokenness into a path toward holiness and salvation, for our good and the good of His Church. Having an intact family is good, becoming holy and preparing yourself for eternal life is better. Do not give up on Hope, and remind yourself that you are loved. Jesus' experience of being misunderstood, rejected, and distanced from those closest to Him (family, friends, community of origin) is a profound reminder that He fully shared in human suffering, including the loneliness of being an outsider. He knows what you are going through.

I have been married but never through the church . I’m 64 and it has been my regret that I didn’t place a priority on a man not being married by church but then the marriage only lasted 5 years. Now my concern is following Jesus Christ , going to church and working on my spiritual life

@nebaglorybi4719….I have 2 siblings whose marriages were on the rocks. I myself thought that it could not survive. Even with that in mind, I offered some help to ease some tentions and it worked! They are both close to celebrating 50th wedding anniversary! Thank God for His mercy and kindness. Hang in there, honor your marriage, a covenant you have with God. Focus on your husband and kids, love them with the heart of God for each of them..and if be possible even your in laws. ..to love them as God would love to love them. Of course, we cannot duplicate that perfection of a love He has for us. However, Whether they respond to it or not, which I will pray they do, it will afford you that inner peace that only God can bring to you. He will make you feel loved by Him and that will sustain you to keep going. Learn from what Fr. Chris said here. Draw strength from it and not seek the ‘easier way out.’ Btw, my husband abandoned us but I have kept my marriage vows and has remained chaste. My husband is Baptist. He told me several times after we were married that he wished he never agreed to have our children baptized and raised in the Catholic Church. To this day he stands by what he said to me. We've been married 51years. He says that he was a failure as a father figure. I will go to my grave with this.

I was married to a violent man and did all the steps in the priest in this video to steer him out of it. It didn’t take. He refused anger management courses and didn’t change. Meanwhile, he stopped working and threatened me if I left. He cheated on me, spent my hard earned money as he pleased and took drugs. He also kept hitting me. I said the rosary daily for guidance. It gave me the courage to tell my parish priest. He advised me to leave the marriage to save my life. I decided to divorce to stop him from robbing me blind and to save myself from killed. He passed away from a drug related heart attack. I wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t for our Blessed Mother. ✝️🙏❤️📿

I believe Fr. Alar made it clear and based on Canon Law, that though divorce is a grave offense, it does not necessarily constitute a sin. So divorce is NOT adultery. It is when you remarry or co-habitate with somebody without getting a decree of nullity first that makes it adultery. Please accept this teaching of the Catholic Church, or you might end up being guilty of heresy. It is easy to say be married for life if you have a happy or less difficult marriage than someone who does not. This is where the compassion of the church comes in, guided by prudence, lays out the statutes.
Well when your partner walks out and leaves you with the children you have no choice . He made it for you. I didn't marry again been on my own forty years.
Get an annulment if the marriage is violent or abusive. No person should have to suffer mentally physically or financially if one of the couple is a real monster. The children always come first. Cannon law may say one thing but real life is a lot more complex than a rule book. Remember jesus saying to the woman caught in adultery-"go and sin no more..." well I bet she did in other ways, not necessarily adultery but if only it was that simple, go and sin no more. Not so easy.
That's why suffering is a part in this world. Sacrifice is very part of life so that we can enter in heaven! My grandpa was abusive to my grandma. Emotionally, he had another woman and 6 children from the other woman. He neglected my grandma and his original children, and they don't have divorce in our country in the Philippines yet. But thank God my Grandma survived my grandpa died first, before my grandmother. I always pray for there souls. I still love my grandpa and I forgive him for what he done to my grandma. @lynnehood2198
At Mass on Sunday Bishop Felipe from Chile said Mass and gave a wonderful Homily about divorce. I am divorced and talked to him after Mass anx asked him for a blessing which he gave me. I'm not dating anyone anymore and still haven't filed an annulment after 14 years. Please pray for me to follow God's Will.
I am not Catholic (but will be someday). I knocked on the Catholic church door, hoping to be let in. I have to go through a few annulments so I can continue this journey. Meanwhile, I just pray and follow God through it all. I was once the child who hid when things got out of control at home because of domestic violence. I lived in fear every day. I never knew many good days. Absent was security and love. My mother was raised Catholic but left the church as a teenager. She remained silent on that part of her life. My parents ended up divorcing after my mom left one day and never came back home. She left us, and we had no way to defend ourselves in that battle. I had just turned 16, so I also walked out the door and never went back. I was on my own at 16 years old, and I met a man that I married 4 months later. My mom had to sign the papers since I was underage. She did not hesitate. I made a lot of bad choices early on in my life. I found myself in the same situations that I thought I left when I made that choice to leave home at the age of 16. My soul already had damage done to it. I thank God that I am here today to even write this. I am prepared either way for whatever is decided on my annulments. I trust God no matter what, and I know He brought me to that door.

Father went further than most in this Homily and surfaced the Canon Law, whereby the Church in Her Goodness understands that people may be living within an invalid non-sacramental marriage, that is causing grave harm to one or both.The Church in Her Goodness works to evaluate the claimed invalid sacramental marriage and determines the truth through a process of investigation after which a determination is made. Unfortunately the annulment process can take quite a period of time and during the time of waiting which can be years for some, patience with the church runs out, and people as a result of circumstance move on with the hope that eventually they can reconcile with the Church, not losing Hope but ever persevering for that future joyous day.
My daughter is divorced. She was married in the Catholic church. She tried her best to make the marriage work. She has 2 children by him. He was not supporting her in anything! He mentally abused her. He brought out the worst in her. Now she is with a wonderful man who truly loves her. I saw a daughter who was so miserable to a daughter who is truly happy. She didn't get the annulment. I'm praying she will. I feel she deffently did the right thing . Now she had 4 beautiful kids, a career and a loving supporting husband. I am very proud of her. If I was to choose between following Christ and to live with a Buddhist who has affairs, I chose to follow the truth and got divorced but I had not married in the Catholic Church and yes we should also pray to St. Raphael for a good God fearing spouse. I now have to co parenting but I’m still single teaching my child the Catholic faith. She got baptised and received Holy communion. Father keep me and my daughter in prayers.
I had my husband removed from my home due to physical abuse due to his alcoholism. I too was abusive verbally. The physical abuse I couldn’t take anymore so law enforcement came and told him he had to leave. I then had an order of protection against him & then went to court & when the judge asked who was filing for divorce he said he was before I could. He is still an alcoholic after 12 years of divorce but now we’re friends after 5 years of prayer he started talking to me. We have 4 children and I prayed we become friends for the kids. It happened, we’re friends. I still pray for reconciliation of our marriage and for him to stop drinking. I bring up his drinking asking him “don’t you want to be around for grandchildren if that occurs” & he says “yes”. He brings up how much he wants to stop. He is always bringing up how he wants to stop when we talk & I mention to go yo AA, he just says “yeah”. This had taken 12 years to discuss this with him with all my prayers for him. We’ve made strides. I’m 63 he’s 64. I don’t know how much longer I have here on earth but I keep praying for his sobriety and for us to reconcile our marriage. Our last conversation a week ago he asked if I would like to be married again to each other and I said “Yes”. Then he said he has eyes for a woman and he’s trying to get courage to ask her out. I told him he needs to get an annulment before doing this. He was drunk when we were talking about all this and he didn’t like hearing that but I had to tell him that for his Soul. I don’t know what’s going to happen now. I am flying home for Christmas and will be seeing him. He still will be drinking, but I just have to see what God‘s plan is whether or not we can become one again. Thank you for listening and reading my story. My mother was in a severe abusive marriage all her life. We were all part of that abuse , but eventually led to more abuse and, eventually, my father's suicide. My mother was granted a divorce through the church, but she stayed in spite of my father's infidelity and abuse. We all went through bad physical and mental abuse. My mom stayed faithful to God all her life, up until she passed. I have been emotionally affected by all this chaos. For the sake of the children, in these cases, divorce should be allowed..😢
If Jesus was tolerant of divorce, He would have already destroyed the whole human race and established a new covenant with an entirely new rational life form. But no, despite how we as the church and bride of Christ fall into sin, he is still faithful to us.
I doubt that those who walk away from marriage will watch this video when, in fact, they should! Sadly, many marriages end up in divorce. Of course, our Lord hears your plea, but at the same time, he has given all free will and won't force the person to return to the marriage. To the hurting party, stay close to the Lord. He is truly aware of your pain.

Same. Husband left me and our youngest when he was six. Our older son was 20. I never got an annulment, and have been alone for 23 years. It gets harder, not easier, every year. I was not the guilty one but I'm punished.
God saved our marriage yesterday. After 30 years of strife and pain, God healed us. Praise be to Jesus!!

I live in chastity, wear my wedding ring, honoring God and my wife with an intense life of prayer and sacraments. I know that if I'm faithful to God and persevere I'll see the glory of God and I pray every day for that. I have a petition for you 😇... Can you offer a monthly or weekly Holy Mass asking for the infinite mercy of Our Lord to restore both hearts of every single marriage in the world who's separated or divorced? I am a convert, and actually converted in my second marriage outside the Catholic faith, but my husband divorced me because I became Catholic- he was a hard core Democrat, and not a practicing Christian of any sort. There were many abuses as well, but remained dedicated. But, it really was nothing more than a verbal agreement that no longer existed. What a shocking thing to realize we live our lives in a false sense of marriage for most people of the world. 🌎 Ive been divorced for 5 years, and have given my life to Christ. Live my life in prayer and atonement for my sins. So sad. When all you wanted was what God really wants for us. Praise to You Lord, despite our pain on earth.

We, as Catholics, need to hear about marriage in the church. My children have had multiple marriages, which I can't accept. They are all Catholic. I can only Pray for God's intercession to bring them back to the Sacraments. It's very hurtful, and all I can do is pray. Thank You Fr Chris.

Such a good but tough topic. I am recently divorced. Lord knows I gave it my all. She just could never be faithful. After so many affairs I had to make the toughest decision of my life. One thing I have learned is just because you get a divorce doesn't mean the problems end. You just have new ones now. You still have to co-parent and deal with each other. Make sure you marry the right person and pray hard about it.

I was a battered, stay at home wife for 33 years. My husband told me that if I ever told anyone about the abuse, he would kill our 11 living children.
I finally made a 911 call on November 22, 2018, after he went after our youngest child. He was arrested, and on December 17, 2018, he filed for divorce.
I did not want the divorce.
I only wanted for my husband to receive help.
I have not remarried.

I had to divorce because of spousal abuse, physically, verbally and emotionally. Was terrified for my well being. I also had an annulment and am remarried to a Catholic man in the Catholic Church. I believe I had every right to divorce because abuse should not be tolerated in a marriage.
God would never want you to stay in such a marriage of abuse. He is merciful and loving. You did the correct behavior of leaving your spouse - obtaining an annulment and chose to remarry in the church. God bless you.
Of course abuse can not be tolerated. It is the beginning of death.
Was getting an annulment very difficult? I always thought that even though abuse by one party is abhorrent, the innocent party has to prove that the abuser’s behaviour did not just develop after the marriage, but had been there even beforehand, thus making the marriage invalid in the first place, since the guilty one had never had the attitude necessary for making a true commitment to the marriage. The guilty one may well have hidden their true abusive tendencies beforehand, so the innocent one went into the marriage with confidence, not realising this. I believe it’s called “error of character “, and makes the marriage invalid from the beginning, thus justifying an annulment.
i remember me and my mom would tell my brother to get married by the church because he was so far away from the sacraments. one of his kids weren't baptized, the other hadn't done her first communion (she is confirmation age) and were like ok we'll just stop telling him, but we prayed immensely for him. i prayed to God to get him closer to the sacraments and guess what. this year all on the same month my brother asked me to baptize his child (on the same day i was to baptize my son and my other Godson) and my niece did her first communion oh and my brother got divorced (He wasn't married by the church) he had it hard but he takes his kids every sunday to Church and they love it. i pray he finds a Good wife. and also pray for my mother as she is battling satge 4 breast cancer. thank you all and bless you all

A most difficult teaching indeed. Many valid reasons to get away from a spouse. Many woman would still be alive today if they had and children who would still have their mother.

Not all "traditional" Catholics hold such conviction. Please do not generalize them. One or two or 10 individuals do not make up all traditional Catholics. Those who are properly catechized and who bothered to study the Catholic Church's teaching certainly has a better understanding.
I separated from my husband because he was an alcoholic,verbally abusive and cheated on me. I prayed to God to heal us . I would have stayed if he only tried to stop this behaviour but he didn’t. He has been living with another women for the last few years. He still drinks and has moved on to be physically abusive with her. I suffer from the trauma of my marriage every day. I have no intention of remarrying and am scared to get into another relationship. I am catholic and try to attend church but, I struggle with my place now. I feel like a failure and sometimes I feel like I’m being judged because I am alone. My culture and religion is centred around family. I feel like an outsider . My children have also suffered. They say they are happy we are no longer together, but I see how they suffer Coming from a broken home.
Hi dear, tell your children that you don't have a broken home because the center of your house has Jesus ❤ so never think of getting lost. Say the rosary daily, monthly confession, and attending the mass will strengthen you. If you can participate in a catholic inner healing retreat. May our loving Jesus bless you and your beautiful children 🙇♂️
Keep in mind this: What people say versus what Jesus say. He never said blessed are those with intact and perfect families, what He did say though:
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God."
God became flesh for people like you, not for those who live perfect like Pharisees. Jesus came for the broken, the struggling, the humble - not for those who live self-righteously. He became flesh for people like you. You are blessed to need Him. Your children are blessed to need Him. God uses our pain, brokenness and wounds and transform them into something good. He doesn't waste our pain but uses it to shape us, draw us closer to Him, and bring about His greater purpose. In His hands, our struggles become the very tools of His grace!
God does not waste our pain. He uses it as a means of sanctification, conforming us more closely to Christ. Through His grace, our struggles become the very tools of His mercy, transforming our brokenness into a path toward holiness and salvation, for our good and the good of His Church. Having an intact family is good, becoming holy and preparing yourself for eternal life is better. Do not give up on Hope, and remind yourself that you are loved.
Jesus' experience of being misunderstood, rejected, and distanced from those closest to Him (family, friends, community of origin) is a profound reminder that He fully shared in human suffering, including the loneliness of being an outsider. He knows what you are going through.

@nebaglorybi4719….I have 2 siblings whose marriages were on the rocks. I myself thought that it could not survive. Even with that in mind, I offered some help to ease some tentions and it worked! They are both close to celebrating 50th wedding anniversary! Thank God for His mercy and kindness. Hang in there, honor your marriage, a covenant you have with God. Focus on your husband and kids, love them with the heart of God for each of them..and if be possible even your in laws. ..to love them as God would love to love them. Of course, we cannot duplicate that perfection of a love He has for us. However, Whether they respond to it or not, which I will pray they do, it will afford you that inner peace that only God can bring to you. He will make you feel loved by Him and that will sustain you to keep going. Learn from what Fr. Chris said here. Draw strength from it and not seek the ‘easier way out.’ Btw, my husband abandoned us but I have kept my marriage vows and has remained chaste. Oh, how the Lord has restored me and healed me so beautifully. The Lord is truly faithful to those who are faithful to Him even if it was a struggle. Keeping you in my prayers. God loves you. Mama Mary assist you as a wife, a mother and an in law. You are loved.

As my beloved Pope Francis once said, "Marriage is a great path to sanctity..."😇 Opportunities abound to practice heroic patience, forgiveness, forbearance, Godly love, etc, on both sides. And as Saint James said of discipleship, "We are afflicted on every side but not crushed; perplexed but not driven to despair..." something like that.

My husband is Baptist. He told me several times after we were married that he wished he never agreed to have our children baptized and raised in the Catholic Church. To this day he stands by what he said to me. We've been married 51years. He says that he was a failure as a father figure. I will go to my grave with this.
Oh and we won't be buried in the same cemetery. He in the protestant and me in the Catholic cemetery. How sad is that.

I was married to a violent man and did all the steps in the priest in this video to steer him out of it. It didn’t take. He refused anger management courses and didn’t change. Meanwhile, he stopped working and threatened me if I left. He cheated on me, spent my hard earned money as he pleased and took drugs. He also kept hitting me. I said the rosary daily for guidance. It gave me the courage to tell my parish priest. He advised me to leave the marriage to save my life. I decided to divorce to stop him from robbing me blind and to save myself from killed. He passed away from a drug related heart attack. I wouldn’t be alive today if it weren’t for our Blessed Mother. ✝️🙏❤️📿
Once men have demonstrated so much knowledge about God, the Holy Spirit, Angels, Demons, etc. and have written so many books, less than 2 weeks remain to give them the privilege of knowing the divine supernatural world live and direct.😊

If we truly believe in Jesus Christ, then as Catholics we should follow what he said, marriage is for life, divorce and remarriage is adultery. 🙏🏼
I believe Fr. Alar made it clear and based on Canon Law, that though divorce is a grave offense, it does not necessarily constitute a sin. So divorce is NOT adultery. It is when you remarry or co-habitate with somebody without getting a decree of nullity first that makes it adultery. Please accept this teaching of the Catholic Church, or you might end up being guilty of heresy. It is easy to say be married for life if you have a happy or less difficult marriage than someone who does not. This is where the compassion of the church comes in, guided by prudence, lays out the statutes.

Well when your partner walks out and leaves you with the children you have no choice . He made it for you. I didn't marry again been on my own forty years.
Get an annulment if the marriage is violent or abusive. No person should have to suffer mentally physically or financially if one of the couple is a real monster. The children always come first. Cannon law may say one thing but real life is a lot more complex than a rule book. Remember jesus saying to the woman caught in adultery-"go and sin no more..." well I bet she did in other ways, not necessarily adultery but if only it was that simple, go and sin no more. Not so easy.
That's why suffering is a part in this world. Sacrifice is very part of life so that we can enter in heaven! My grandpa was abusive to my grandma. Emotionally, he had another woman and 6 children from the other woman. He neglected my grandma and his original children, and they don't have divorce in our country in the Philippines yet. But thank God my Grandma survived my grandpa died first, before my grandmother. I always pray for there souls. I still love my grandpa and I forgive him for what he done to my grandma. @lynnehood2198

At Mass on Sunday Bishop Felipe from Chile said Mass and gave a wonderful Homily about divorce. I am divorced and talked to him after Mass anx asked him for a blessing which he gave me. I'm not dating anyone anymore and still haven't filed an annulment after 14 years. Please pray for me to follow God's Will.

I am not Catholic (but will be someday). I knocked on the Catholic church door, hoping to be let in. I have to go through a few annulments so I can continue this journey. Meanwhile, I just pray and follow God through it all.
I was once the child who hid when things got out of control at home because of domestic violence. I lived in fear every day. I never knew many good days. Absent was security and love. My mother was raised Catholic but left the church as a teenager. She remained silent on that part of her life.
My parents ended up divorcing after my mom left one day and never came back home. She left us, and we had no way to defend ourselves in that battle. I had just turned 16, so I also walked out the door and never went back. I was on my own at 16 years old, and I met a man that I married 4 months later. My mom had to sign the papers since I was underage. She did not hesitate.
I made a lot of bad choices early on in my life. I found myself in the same situations that I thought I left when I made that choice to leave home at the age of 16. My soul already had damage done to it.
I thank God that I am here today to even write this. I am prepared either way for whatever is decided on my annulments. I trust God no matter what, and I know He brought me to that door.

Father went further than most in this Homily and surfaced the Canon Law, whereby the Church in Her Goodness understands that people may be living within an invalid non-sacramental marriage, that is causing grave harm to one or both.The Church in Her Goodness works to evaluate the claimed invalid sacramental marriage and determines the truth through a process of investigation after which a determination is made. Unfortunately the annulment process can take quite a period of time and during the time of waiting which can be years for some, patience with the church runs out, and people as a result of circumstance move on with the hope that eventually they can reconcile with the Church, not losing Hope but ever persevering for that future joyous day.

My wife divorced me.. it was NOT my choice. I am grieving and trying to live a faithful Catholic life!
My daughter is divorced. She was married in the Catholic church. She tried her best to make the marriage work. She has 2 children by him. He was not supporting her in anything! He mentally abused her. He brought out the worst in her. Now she is with a wonderful man who truly loves her. I saw a daughter who was so miserable to a daughter who is truly happy. She didn't get the annulment. I'm praying she will. I feel she deffently did the right thing . Now she had 4 beautiful kids, a career and a loving supporting husband. I am very proud of her. God will guide her back to her faith ❤❤🎉
This is hard, i hate to say this but this is still adulterous... But the lord is merciful he himself can decide

Tragic that the RCC will still stamp this as adultery. Best she gets a annulment and remarry in the RCC.

If I was to choose between following Christ and to live with a Buddhist who has affairs, I chose to follow the truth and got divorced but I had not married in the Catholic Church and yes we should also pray to St. Raphael for a good God fearing spouse. I now have to co parenting but I’m still single teaching my child the Catholic faith. She got baptised and received Holy communion. Father keep me and my daughter in prayers.
I had my husband removed from my home due to physical abuse due to his alcoholism. I too was abusive verbally. The physical abuse I couldn’t take anymore so law enforcement came and told him he had to leave. I then had an order of protection against him & then went to court & when the judge asked who was filing for divorce he said he was before I could. He is still an alcoholic after 12 years of divorce but now we’re friends after 5 years of prayer he started talking to me. We have 4 children and I prayed we become friends for the kids. It happened, we’re friends. I still pray for reconciliation of our marriage and for him to stop drinking. I bring up his drinking asking him “don’t you want to be around for grandchildren if that occurs” & he says “yes”. He brings up how much he wants to stop. He is always bringing up how he wants to stop when we talk & I mention to go yo AA, he just says “yeah”. This had taken 12 years to discuss this with him with all my prayers for him. We’ve made strides. I’m 63 he’s 64. I don’t know how much longer I have here on earth but I keep praying for his sobriety and for us to reconcile our marriage. Our last conversation a week ago he asked if I would like to be married again to each other and I said “Yes”. Then he said he has eyes for a woman and he’s trying to get courage to ask her out. I told him he needs to get an annulment before doing this. He was drunk when we were talking about all this and he didn’t like hearing that but I had to tell him that for his Soul. I don’t know what’s going to happen now. I am flying home for Christmas and will be seeing him. He still will be drinking, but I just have to see what God‘s plan is whether or not we can become one again.

My mother was in a severe abusive marriage all her life. We were all part of that abuse , but eventually led to more abuse and, eventually, my father's suicide. My mother was granted a divorce through the church, but she stayed in spite of my father's infidelity and abuse. We all went through bad physical and mental abuse. My mom stayed faithful to God all her life, up until she passed. I have been emotionally affected by all this chaos. For the sake of the children, in these cases, divorce should be allowed..😢

If Jesus was tolerant of divorce, He would have already destroyed the whole human race and established a new covenant with an entirely new rational life form. But no, despite how we as the church and bride of Christ fall into sin, he is still faithful to us.
I doubt that those who walk away from marriage will watch this video when, in fact, they should! Sadly, many marriages end up in divorce. Of course, our Lord hears your plea, but at the same time, he has given all free will and won't force the person to return to the marriage. To the hurting party, stay close to the Lord. He is truly aware of your pain.

Divorced 20 years; never remarried,never gotan annulment. Very difficult life as my WasBand abandoned me and my 3 y.o in diapers for another woman. Needless to say, he is on divorce #2, at 60. Divine justice ❤
Same. Husband left me and our youngest when he was six. Our older son was 20. I never got an annulment, and have been alone for 23 years. It gets harder, not easier, every year. I was not the guilty one but I'm punished.
