This video is perfect timing because I have a final next week and a lot of nerves was flying around
Good luck!
@@YordanStoyanov2004 cheers pal
@@zacharyelliott4730 all good!
Good luck for the final mate! Hope the vid helps!
Mental health and anxiety were never a problem for me until I joined a big football academy here in Serbia, but when I had my first real game I felt like I was gonna die. When I got subbed in my team were up 2-1 but then I came in and let in 3 goals. I was extremely nervous and made three massive mistakes and because of me my team lost. That happened just a month after I joined the academy in August and at the time I really considered quitting football, but after 2 months of not playing football I started going to training again. It took me six months to build up the courage to play in a game, but than after that my confidence is coming back again and I'm trying to get better every day. I love your videos they genuinely help me so much❤
Well done for building up the confidence again mate, not an easy thing to do! You will learn a lot from it, and you will be a much stronger GK now! It's all about loving the game - that's the most important thing! You've got this!
Timing is crazy, I have a match in about 3 hours and my heart is pounding quite a bit, I do use breathing myself, actually. I had one game in the past where I could feel my heart beat through my whole body, it lead me to make many mistakes, however it has only happened that one time really, and in addition to it, I was a little malnutritioned, I didn't have much sugar. I often get a higher heart rate and I try to bring the heart rate down, so I can have a clear mind but at the same time I play very aggressively like Kahn, but I find it's still better to have a calmer heart even when playing in a more pump up style.
I hope the vid helped and that the game went well mate!
Self talk I can strongly relate to! I know how nervous I can get given how much I worry about almost everything!
This was really helpful for because I played my very first game a week ago, I was doing pretty good making 2 or 3 good saves, but sadly I got left in a 2v1 2 times in a row and conceded both it was very unfortunate, and I got made fun of at school for conceding them, it didn't really bother me but as I'm nearing my next game this Sunday it's been etching away at my nerves making me think I may screw up again, but this video has helped me and I really appreciate, I'm confident in my abilities and even if things go sideways I'll keep my head up and keep practicing and moving forwards, thanks Conor. 😁
I hope the game went well mate. 2v1 situations are nearly impossible as a GK, so don't beat yourself up! That's a great attitude, well done!
Perfect timing. Morning of the final
Hope it went well mate!!
This was Very much needed
Thanks mate!
Great tips. Thanks, Conor.
Glad you found them helpful mate
I love that moment when I come back to home after match, go to my home gym for post game session and see that Conor just uploaded new video
Love it!! Hope the game went well mate!
This is great, just got home from practice and I'm so exited to watch this
Brilliant! Hope you find it helpful!
Great advice as always Con
Thanks Tom!
You deserve more subscribers 😢😢 .. FULL SUPPORT FROM INDIA
Very lucky to have so many subscribers! Thank you mate!
Hi coner love the video and all your tips helped me to fell much better as a gk
Thanks Aaron! Really glad that you've found it helpful!
Another great video Connor! The mental side of the position is so important and can’t be understated. Many youth keepers struggle and crack under the pressure of being the last line of defence, when all they need is a more positive perspective.
100%, completely agree Alan!
Great video meditation is great use it for football and darts connor
Thanks Wayne!
Very, very helpful. Thank you so Much for sharing this!! One of the most difficult things to do to me ,
is to stop to think about crowd's opinions, especially After matches mistakes. I Need to working a lot for that. Thanks for your contents Conor!!
You're welcome Stefano! Really glad that you found the video helpful!
This really helps I appreciate it man. My own Sunday league team are my biggest triggers for anxiety, they always get on my case for every mistake I make. These tips helped out alot to slow everything down to think clearly.
Glad you found it helpful mate - your teammates should be the ones to back you up, but we've all been there. Maybe speak to them if you can. But hopefully these techniques will help too!
Thanks for that Conor! I have been upgrading my mentality lately!
And if you could be able to make a video on goal kicks that would be good because they are my weakness!
Love it mate! I have a video on Goalkicks on the channel! Hope it helps!
i havent played in months due to ankle injury, just played a few time last week. they were the first time playing after my injury. i made a lot of mistakes and my mind was all over the place but watching this video is making me feel better and ready for my first game of the season.🤜
You've got this mate - it takes a while after an injury to get back up to speed. Be patient, keep working, and you'll be better than before in no time
Great video Conner, this will help me for my game saturday. We can become champions then!
Good luck Jens!!
@@ConorOKeefe Unfortunately we lost 2-1, but played a calm and positive match!
I really love this video! I'm playing on a high level vatisty team and this helps alot!
Love it! Really glad you found it helpful!
@@ConorOKeefe 🏆thank you! Today we competed for the championships and we won!

@@ConorOKeefe Thanks a lot conor
Good video as always Conor. Just a question, could you please do a video on how to set up your wall
Yes I will do that soon!
Hey con i have a question. I have exams at school but i wanted to use the summer to prepare for a tryout in September but I have no clue how to do it. Nor where to start.
Also what is useful to do in the gym to get into shape and improve my goalkeeping abilities?
Always love your videos. So interesting to watch all the time
Thanks Luca - I have a few videos on off-season training which should show you the main things to do during the break. I have a few gym videos, and also a full Gym Programme over on the website if you want help with that!
@@ConorOKeefe thanks Conor
Whenever my opponents score a goal I always think "what will my teammates think about me" and I always say to myself that it's all my fault I don't know how to conquer that
Try to let it go! It's gone, nothing you can do. Only let your mind focus on what is next, so that you are ready for the next moment!
I am making a video of a pro goalkeepers breathing that’s just sassy.
In your opinion are you a more calm goalkeeper or are you more pumped up before a game because I much prefer being calm so wondered how you feel
I'd probably say 7/10 pumped up!!
Hi Conor! Trainings with your team are executed in English or Swedish?
Mostly in Swedish!
Bro I get nervous during the game whenever a attack is made
What can I do
Why are you gonna make a video of how a pearl goalkeeper breathes like that’s just sassy.
Con how long is your worm up?
There is a few videos in his Chanel explaining his warm ups but to be honest it should be what makes you feel best
I normally warm up for around 30mins!
do you ever stud yourself when saving a shot? my leg is covered in cuts because I keep studding myself
Sometimes! Maybe have a look at your diving technique if it's happening too much!
Will you make your top 10 underrated goalkeepers this season?
Great shout!
Bro what is your height.mine is 5'10 is it ok to be a goalkeeper of age 18
Of course! Focus on improving what you can control, that's the most important thing!
Would you call your self a religious person Conor? 🤔 just curious.
I would! Big part of my life!
I’m using voicemail so the thing I actually said was why are you making a video of a pro goalkeepers breathing? That’s just sassy you know.
I wonder if you've ever heard of Ashwagandha Conor. It's a dietary supplement and an adaptogen which basically lowers short term stress and long term, which means that it lowers the stress hormone cortisol. There are some side effects though that may or may not be a placebo effect which removes you're emotions completely making you emotionless. So people recommend taking ashwagandha for 1.5 months until taking a break from it for a good few weeks. But the only time you really should be taking it is when you're going through personally a stressful time. But the emotionless part ISN'T permanent.
It's not something that I have heard of!
