    Man, I love those tyres. My stock tyres needs to be changed soon and I’m switching from my stock 18 inch ford wheels to a 16 inch stock ford one. I want the biggest mud tyre that can fit in my stock Ranger Wildtrak. Can you give me advice on the tyre size? I don’t want my ute lifted. Keep those videos coming. Cheers!

    A good look at what they do. I had no idea the wild track has sensors, my XLS doesn't, Cheers Steve

      Yeah. It's a plus and a negative. The guy said the new ones are expensive. Will have to find out the cost to get another set for the old tyres ;-)

    Hi Rob. Another excellent video and a thumbs up for the new shorter intro. Regarding the gentleman changing the tyres. That's the kind of guy we are all looking for. A professional, that takes care with no lazy short cuts. Love the new wheels and tyres. Are they quiet on the road so far ?

    • @acafwd
      @acafwd  6 років тому

      Hi Kevin,
      Yes. They were very professional and he took the time to show me all the things they did, from start to finish. It is a credit to the team they have there. Good to hear that the shorter into is appreciated.
      I was expecting them to be noisy, but there is no noise at all! Not sure if it because they are new or what? I really need time to test them before I can give them a fair review. I will let you guys know as time goes on. We have a trip coming up soon, so it will be a grea time to give them a go.

    Great video. I have +30 fuel assault wheels, i also have EGR flares. But im thinking of taking the flares of as the 3m tapes doesmt last long. I think i would be fine with the offset without the flares. From memory the front wheels sit perfect and the back stuck out about 10mm in the back. Would this be fine? I have 265/65/18 nitto tyres. Thanks

    Did you notice a power loss or braking ability with running steel rims? compared to alloys?

    Thanks for the clip Robert very interesting process in making sure everything is right. I could be wrong but didn’t the geolanders replace the old super diggers the super diggers were a great tyre so there should be no reason why the geolanders won’t be a good tyre as well I am a bit of a fan of Yokohama.

      It is a good question Cameron. I haven't had any experience with Yokohama before, so will have to see how they go. This is a new tred pattern, which was released late last year. Looking forward to giving them a go in a couple of weeks time!

    Robert, I have to ask why did you take the tyres off the old rims? Was it just to get the pressure senders out? I was thinking a new set of tyres on new rims and swap them over at home as required. Old tyres looked newish.
    Secondly, what was he talking about "can't have tyres over 7 years"? I'd be keen to know where that is coming from. Also, recently a tyre fitter told me many people are opting for 4WD tyres on with the white embossing inwards. The thing is, the date code is on the side with the white embossing. Tell me about the 7 years bit please?
    Thanks for the vid.

      Hi Mondo,
      All good questions.
      Yes. The tyres were removed from the rims as I needed the pressure sensors from them in order to work with the new tyres. I ended up driving to Ford the following week and picked up some extra sensors and they are now back in the original wheels ;-). I have the original wheel back on as well.(There is a lot of things going on up here in QLD regarding tyre sizes and lift kits so until the fog clears on this, I am just going to play it safe.)
      The plan was not to be using the new tyres for normal driving, but just for off-road driving, so the original tyres are back on the car again now and the new ones are stored away for trips.
      Regarding the 7 years. They bought out legislation that tyres cannot be over 7 years old on a vehicle now. So when they put new tyres on, they try to put the date stamp on the outside so that the police can check them easily. They are not actually allowed to service a tyre which is older than 7 years either. It must have come from some accidents which were happening with old tyres I guess?
      I am not sure if they have to put the date on the outside. It sort of came across that they would prefer to place it on the outside to make it easier to check? Could be wrong in that though....

      @mondohamster5702 6 років тому

      Hmmm, a call to Qld TMR "vehicle standards" section ensures me there is NO legislation regarding age of tyres on a vehicle! So I'm very interested to hear what your legislation is. Can you please clear this up. Thanks Robert.

      That's interesting Mondo. I am going on what I have been told by Bob Jane (not being an expert myself ;-) ). I will have to look into it further.

    Hi, could you have put those tyres on the Wildtrak rims? Reason being is I’m currently running a set of 20” rims with 285/50/20 tyres and they JUST miss the front inner guard at full lock and I have a 2” lift. Wanted to put a set of 33” muddies on but the rub on full lock, let alone any off road flexing when I’m turning.
    My plan was to buy a second hand set of 18” Wildtrak rims and throw some 33’s on those - my tyre bloke reckons as the Wildtrak rims a zero offset it would assist with the turning clearance. I’m not convinced.
    Any help would be great. Thanks.

    • @acafwd
      @acafwd  5 років тому

      Yeah...not sure mate? I imagine they would... the offset is different with these rims though

      The 275 65 R18 fit on the stock rims with no lift on the new rangers. Only very minor scrub with brand new tyres on the rear at full flex. I also run the G003.

      @@jackmahoney884 Can’t be certain but I don’t think the car has really changed between those years. I’m going for a 275 70R17 next time. Only a few mm taller than the 275/65/18 and still legal in QLD but more sidewall.
      Google tyre size calculator. Their site is a great tool for looking into different rim and tyre sizes.

    you've just swapped from the best touring sand, and mud combo tyres around with the joint best strength sidewall available to a terrible tyre on the road, good in mud but thats it. the yoko sidewalls are not that strong.
    You should have stuck with the st maxx and dropped to 17.
    A good tyre man though, in the uk you have to have a degree in acting brain dead to work in a tyre shop, smoke weed all day and only want to work 5 hours a day.

    • @acafwd
      @acafwd  6 років тому +1

      I did think about going to 17, but decided to stay with the 18". From those who I have spoke with online about these particular Yokohama tyres, they have provided positive feedback. Time will tell I guess. I did keep the Coopers and plan to use them for normal road driving and the occaisinal off road trip ;-)
      Thanks for your feedback.

      I’ve tested them all beyond any fair use for my atlas vehicles oem project, st maxx, stt pro and the Michelin mtr are the only ones that stand up to real life scenarios, when running at low pressures, especially with beadlocks.
      The tyre industry is like the mobile phone industry, best at marketing, people will buy, or be a lot cheaper.
      Bfg’s are so bad at low pressures, bfg Europe asked a good friend in the industry how much he would like not to change his review but just not to publish.
      Mikey t’s are good but fail in the real world test scenarios due to availability.
