Like George straits songs but George Jones was like Elvis he started when country music was not nearly as big as it later became. He didn't have the best backup singers at his disposal like he later had. He had huge struggles to overcome in his personal life and his songs reflected it in his choice of songs he recorded. He teamed up with Tammy which at the time what brought them to super stardom. He charted more than 160 songs more than any other artist to this day. Everybody wanted to be able to sing like George Jones but nobody could.

So, so true. A lot of today's country is played on regular music channels. I was a "wigger" growing up, so I hated country. I didn't even know anyone in my big city that listened to it. Then a friend of mine got me listening to it and I started loving it so much. Now with this crap today, it sounds like some of the crap I used to listen to because I didn't like country.
