Great, choice of timbres. The kick and bass work great. Lead vox in relation b vox works beautifully, brass section sound class into 1 mic and the glock style sound from the keys just fits perfectly. Awesome mix. Great equipment and a fab song! 80s chorus on the guitar is also perfect choice. A very well thought out combination! Great vibe. Can’t get enough of the track! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Also wondering about this. If the meters are all red like that why don't we hear any clipping? Should I be trying to hit the red when I record? I always try to keep it green with the occasional yellow.
the industry now require , a loudness'', clipping only occur when you overhead is low, but since analogue doesn't have clipping, only on digital,, you can crank it up
@@ScottMcFadyen > If the meters are all red like that why don't we hear any clipping? Because in the digital domain (while in the box) the red on the meters doesn't matter, there's plenty of headroom in the 32bit floating point DAWs use. Not crossing 0db only matters at the points when you hit the AD or DA converter. DAWs can even mimic analog consoles and add saturation when you're in the red on a channel - and as long as you don't send over 0db to the DA (output) there wont be any clipping...
@@foljs5858 the analog inputs on the Apollo interface were clipping. If it’s drums, you may not hear it on the quick transients. But it’s definitely clipping the waveform on input.
Great sounding audio. The inner city hipster promo stuff is old and not so hip. Instead of dropping the Apollos in an expensive studio where the professional mix engineer is using a real Neve or SSL and probably only using the Apollo's for conversion...how bout doing an Apollo Artist Sessions series where you drop an Apollo twin and Apollo 8 in some dudes hobby basement studio (with a million acoustical treatment problems, and see how real ingenuity works with the Apollos. You guys have a great product, but you take the easy route to promote it.
I agree. I am happy to say, even with just the previous version apollo quad firewire. I am getting awesome quality in my 'bedroom' studio. We just recorded a song called When you're around, and I didn't miss my previously treated room and more outboard gear at all.
The problem that shoots down this approach is they won't have a large room to fit a whole band that can actually play. Most of these acts would sound good anywhere, but getting everyone in one space to make it happen quickly is a challenge. Plus they want to prove to buyers that the pros could use classic outboard gears, but they're okay with the UA software.
Alex Breyer that’s just it tho. UA promos the stuff only in a perfect situation. Not all bands have 12+ members. Want to hear the Apollo compete with pro level gear? Put it in a non pro situation and see how it stacks up. These pro studios (which I am not bashing) have the perfect situation where a $100 Focusrite 1 channel usb interface would sound amazing.
Love the song and video but those backup singers wouldnt get a call back from me because of their terrible mic technique. Shaking heads left to right past the mic or grabbing the mic and stand esp without a shock mount....
Love how the kick and bass work together
Reminds me of 80s funky music.
This is probably the best session you posted yet, imo. Amazing stuff!
I love this! So funky and positive!

The track is actually kind of funky. Love the bass and the kick. The rap is kinda dope... Real old school.

The best!
Great sound....better than the one on his album....love the sound....I'd rock this version in the club over the one on the album.
Sonzeira!!!
Don't change, don't change. Buy UAD Yeah! Come on un, deux, trois!!
nice!
but what about gain staging? input levels seem to be so high on the 16's...
but still sounds good!

why you hitting those converters into the red like that unless its just for show and the actual converters we are hearing are something else?
