Ares is as brutal as he is honest. And even while his fury is legendary, he has never defiled another His love for his daugthers is as legendary as his rage, as he protects them, and all scorn women.
Athena is depicted as the goddess of justice and strength, many argue she’s stronger than ares because she wounded him during the battle of troy, however what they fail to mention is she didn’t even fight him she helped guide the spear of Diomedes into ares stomach and they needed the help of hera and Aphrodite as well
Ares gets way to much bad rep, yes he is violent and obnoxious, but so is every other bastard in the greek myths At the very least the only oddities in ares is that he never defiled a woman, Nor did he ever betray, dud is the most blunt guy you can meet, he will stab you but never in the back, if ares wants to fight you, you will know he wants to, no trickery. Id say the worst thing he did was sleep with aphorditie while she was married, but you cant act like he's the only god who cheats, or sleeps with married women, at the very least he doesn't r*pe or trick women like other gods. Seriously ares, and Hades are 2 gods that are looked at way too negatively considering that they're the 2 most normal gods. Hell, other than the violence, ares is just a decent straightforward dude and yes athena is also flawed, (the whole medusa situation is just one of the examples, also arachne) Zeus will cheat on his wife and r*pe - even though he's the "oldest, wisest and greatest" of gods Peosidon cheats, cast brashly and is violent - yet the people consider it ok since he's the ocean and the ocean is annoying so its normal or smt Aphordity is just annoying to deal with and gets in the way of everything Appolo is probably even worse than zeus Artemis and athena are both considered perfect goddesses, but there are times they act brashly as well, (artemis less so but even she acts brashly) yet ares simply does what he is the god of, like all others and gets brashed on, even tho the rest of his character is that of a decent dude Hades too, both gods get way too much bad rep all in all, if i had to pledge my loyalty to one of the olymians, I'm gonna go to either hades of ares, cuz ik i can trust them
No single Olympian is a "god of the people." This is a terrible modern reading of the ancient mindset, and an appropriation for the sake of indulging modern sensibilities. Pagan gods don't give a damn about your political activism, or whatever your cause might be. Here's the thing that moderns need to understand about pagan gods: they are not your friends. Poseidon isn't your goofy uncle, and Artemis ain't your gal pal. Pagan gods are INCREDIBLY hierarchical. This piece accuses Athena of only having eyes for heroes, but that's all of the gods. if you aren't a hero or a king, if you're just some peasant, then get over yourself, Ares would never even look at you nor would any god. This is actually one of the reasons that Christianity caught on and became widespread through the Roman empire so quickly: Christ was actually a god of the people in whose eyes all were equal. The poor and downtrodden suffered under the rule of pagan hierarchical structures, and Christianity promised to overturn those structures.

I love that last scene, hos his red cloak isnt red cause of blood, but instead its the people that follow behind him
That's interesting. The funny thing is that the Roman people believe that they are all the grandchildren of Mars aka Ares.
True, but Roman religion got mixed with the Greek religion after they conquered Greece but they are essentially different
Per aspera ad astra
Per ardua ad astra
Exurge Mars, Mars Ultor
Roma et Imperator

Damn dood. It’s just a comic about myth. But I get your point. It’s all just a myth… a MYTH THEORY

Sorry for being a party pooper lol. I don't have an issue with you or your channel, and wish you the best. I'm just a big fucking nerd
The Romans, unlike the greeks VERY MUCH DID have a god of the common people. His name was Quirinus.
