I perform this live in pubs with my guitar. I was scouring UA-cam, looking for the chords for the instrumental break. Then I came across this! Brilliant rendition-all the way over in Duluth. You're a really talented lot-great voices and players. (and the lady juggling the planets is a sort..) I ....don't suppose you can write down the chords for me can you? Idle is a genius isn't he?
Whenever life gets you down, Mrs.Brown And things seem hard or tough And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft And you feel that you've had quite enough Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned A sun that is the source of all our power The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see Are moving at a million miles a day In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour Of the galaxy we call the 'milky way' Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars It's a hundred thousand light years side to side It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point We go 'round every two hundred million years And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions In this amazing and expanding universe The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding In all of the directions it can whizz As fast as it can go, the speed of light, you know Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure How amazingly unlikely is your birth And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space 'Cause it's bugger all down here on Earth
I really hope somehow they manage to squeeze all these props into their live show. Had visions of a lovely flute solo As the sun does her thing with the bangs and whoosh then sneaks off to get on a trolley holding a giant pencil for the easel as roadies pull her along serenity on there faces. And if they haven't done this. The question is why not surely? I've seen crazy things working gigs. Hawkwind being the least of them.
Because it's done by pretentious arseholes who cant think of anything original so take something that was made for one reason (comedy value) and try to make it HIP, have an original idea and do that, don't copy other ideas and try to make it cool.
Yes I do realise this is just a COVER, but leave your new age arty farty crap out of classic british humour, that song is made for comedy value, not for the hipsters.
@@anametoolongforittoactuall2362 PEople could like it and end up listening to it. In one case this verison gets popular; but in the worst case... more people like monty python and he can't say things like "so underrated"
I love how the guy playing the double bass looks exactly like the kind of guy that would play the double bass :D
On what basis is your aesthetic perception of a double bass player based ?? I'd like to know.
He looks like he enjoys his job.
I'm stealing that awesome first post, ok? LOL

Eric Idle performed this song in the film Monty Python Meaning of Life.
Great! Greetings from the society for putting things on top on other things.
Hi!. From the society for putting things almost next to other things.
Beautiful
Amazing voice by the girl. Cute.
Wonderful and very silly ( know what I mean? nudge nudge)
Norberto Loza
Never Sir! (Wink wink, nudge nudge, say-no-more say-no-more ;)
Beutiful- and NOT silly in the slightest
I've never heard a band that was so perfectly in tune. This song sums up a whole semester of astronomy.
Absoloutly delightfull!
Not just the performance. The details of arrangment and timing are top notch too!
Great stuff. Very enjoyable. Wonderful lady singer's voice
Amazing singing and clarinette playing
Absolutely Lovely!
Honestly, this is a joy to watch.
Lovely version, bringing something different to a modern classic.

Eu não me canso de ouvir essa música! A letra é fantástica e a versão de vocês ficou excelente. Saudações desde Brasil.
This is so good. It makes me wish it were covered by more people so that I could go to their videos and comment that this one is better.
Love it!
I was really expecting the Sun person to do some kind of tap break during the bridge. But a delightful, beautiful performance, regardless!
You kept the "bugger all" despite being from the US. Good! 🧐
Brilliant well done.
How sweet *--*
I love this

Great
Whenever life gets you down, Mrs.Brown
And things seem hard or tough
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft
And you feel that you've had quite enough
Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned
A sun that is the source of all our power
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour
Of the galaxy we call the 'milky way'
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point
We go 'round every two hundred million years
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, the speed of light, you know
Twelve million miles a minute and that's the fastest speed there is
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure
How amazingly unlikely is your birth
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space
'Cause it's bugger all down here on Earth
Im making a playlist for stargazing. This will be number 2 right after Catch a falling Star from Perry Como. Good Work.
Where on your list would Captain Lockheed's 'Catch a falling Starfighter' be?
I think the girl playing the sun did great :D
I really hope somehow they manage to squeeze all these props into their live show.

You’ve connected the very large (the galaxy) to the very small (quark, strangeness and charm)… is this the unified field theory of music? :)
Were can I find the bass tabs for this?
I am as musically talented as the Sun in this video. And as pretty in the dark.
Check out Tasche De La Rocha- Gold Rose Album- Galaxy Souls song

1:40 Hello Up Theme.
Oh my goodness me, it's completely the same!
Can't even tell there's a guitar in the recording
No-one can do it like Eric Idle. Sorry...
Stephen Hawking sure comes close, though.
+Adam Mangler this is a great tribute/cover not an attempt to best Eric, this is a lovely and kinda romantic version.
+BlackHoleHurricane
I like Richard Feynman doing the bongos to it best...
Adam Mangler what, haha i have to check that out.
Bram did it too, Adam, 30 years ago. He is in Sharon and Bram and/or Sharon, Lois, and Bram.
Live my ass...
Kind of makes me want to donate my liver.
Elevation Achieved
Does the bass play not look like a fat young Terry Gilliam? Am I the only one seeing this?
I like this but not sure why...
Definitely not a yank song. Eric doesn’t sing this through his nose…
I’m sorry as a british person it don’t sound the same without Eric’s accent 😂especially not American🤢

NO just NO, YOU are NOT Python and trying to do it in this style does NOT work in any way what so ever so please stop RIGHT now.
Quakescortum Taynt uh..its a cover.. don’t you realize that?
Yes I do realise this is just a COVER, but leave your new age arty farty crap out of classic british humour, that song is made for comedy value, not for the hipsters.
Quakescortum Taynt Whats so wrong about putting a different twist on a classic comedy song?
Stephen Hawking did it too you know! That bad too??

It’s not the same with an American I’m sorry. It’s just cringe
