For me, Shane's victory is THE single most epic motor racing feat of 2023, even better than Ferrari's victory at Le Mans...
Yip left hand drive, different tyres, new track, different axle, heavier car, imagine how fast he would be when he gets comfortable with the car, Hopefully Trackhouse get him back for a road course next year!
SVG has raced alot of LHD vehicles he has raced carts open wheel sprint cars 24hr Ferrari/Porsche super cars rally cars oh and he pretty good at motor cross. Typical kiwi we give anything a go
Similar cars, but sitting on the opposite side than he races in, shifting with his right hand instead of left. Having to get accustomed spatially so he could navigate the car close to walls on the right hand side. He can also drive well in rally and drifting. He's just a phenom!
Need to get him on an oval.
@@jonathonpoloski917 Hes done some dirt stock car racing
SVG is the rain master. Always exceptionally fast in the wet.
Its good to hear Jeff talk about Shanes win in realistic terms. As an aussie race fan of both NASCAR and Australian supercars, i agree both cars are similar which did help Shane alot. Not exactly a rookie win. If Shane was to head over to compete next he would need alot more practice racing speedways.
SVG had another 1.5 secs in him on that track. Was interesting watching his turn in, the nascar car having a live real axle, he was cutting corner entry down massively. supercars has a locked rear. He was rotating so much more than everyone else, and he was still leaving inches against the wall. a rubbered in track, in quali setup. Add 1.5 secs to his quali time.
Need to get him on an oval track.
what you all havent seen is in-car footage of this guy (and others) adjusting front and rear anti roll bars and brake bias between corners so that the car is better set up for each corner. so put that in context not only are V8 supercar drivers racing, changing gear, balancing the car on the brakes for best turn in, the are also adjusting suspension and brake settings for optimum setting for each corner, sometimes with only a few hundred metres (yards) between corners
I think this shows that Gizzy, unlike other ringers, can be a threat if he comes here full time.
This Guy can and does drive everything..
He is a Awesome driver the cars are way different. Here in Australia we drive on the other side and shift with the other hand. He can drive anything
One BIG factor, especially for a street track with NO run-off, just walls, is he was driving on the WRONG side of the car, for him - that meant that he had to re-learn how to place the car, and I don't think he even rubbed a wall anywhere, let along hit one, unlike a few of the other drivers. The wrong shift hand was also another, smaller, factor.
'differences' in what the driver's usually face simply means there was not the usual advantage to locals ... a more level playing field. SVG did well.
Bathurst is an endurance race. Assembling a total package plan, especially, in wet conditions is critical.
I’d love to see some NASCAR drivers make the trip to Australia and run some races in a V8 Supercar. Who knows, it may even increase their skill level.
If McDowell doesn't make the play-offs, I would love to see him be a second driver for Bathurst or something
Australia would love it.
LIV GOLF - they started negotiations the week after it went to Grange (Adelaide, SA).
Adelaide is the best street circuit in Australian (the World! There is a reason most video games will have Adelaide as a Circuit).
They will def learn a lot and I will bet you anything once they go back and race Ovals they will do so much better
Haha.....mate
Easy there tiger.
Denny Hamlin had the most honest reaction to the Giz winning....he drove on the wrong side of the car mate...
Get some of the American guys over to Aus and do the Bathurst race, they would love it.
Good understatement commentators... SVG drives Bathurst... if anyone can drive ... kiwi's can... try negotiating Auckland traffic
Forget the SVG title... here in Oz we just call him "The Gizz" he is a wet race expert and a monster behind the wheel.
I'm Australian too. We can't be claiming him as one of our own. He's a Kiwi, like so many other brilliant Supercar drivers. In fact the sheep shaggers are over represented in Supercar racing, and have been for a long time. Gets me wonderin'.
@@lesflynn4455 yeah too right... and all the kiwi's seem to be great in the wet also!!
@@lesflynn4455 Hey Les, you will note I was not claiming him just stating that in Australia all the people i know at least just call him "the Gizz".
Good to see our fellow Kiwi doing so well in another motorsport!
Well done SVG!
Good explanation. Also the way I understand Nascar called the race early, and the way the pit stops played out due to this, put some of the better Nascar drivers in the back of the pack. Would also be interesting to see how SVG would do on a oval Nascar track.
I thought the restarts were more beneficial to the other Drivers, as it puts them right back on SVG's heels again, You could see him pulling away and once the yellow comes on He loses all that ground he made getting ahead !
When you use the word BUT in a sentence everything before it is discounted. SVG would win on any track he is just that good.
If it's all about how similar the cars are let's see how well NASCAR drivers do their first time in a V8 Supercar lol. It's all denial. He schooled them, just like he's done on rally, drifting, open-wheelers and more. Fact is he's a freak on four wheels and he and only he could do what he did. The ultimate one-and-done. Y'all still ain't walking right.
Good point. I've seen footage of Giz in several different types of race car in the last few years, and it looks like he aces nearly all of them. Supercar, rally, open wheeler (be realistic folks, there's no f1 in NZ), and I haven't seen them all.
I've been wondering if the Cup drivers were dealing with a sense of claustrophobia caused by unfamiliarity with the walls.
@@powder4360exactly, compared to the Gold Coast street course!
Kiwi lad can fly.
Like Ambrose, a champion street racer but like he said himself, he would struggle on an oval track.
5:28 unfortunate timing to be saying the Cup drivers don’t get enough credit…. while showing a complete blockage of the track and cars in every direction.🤦♂️
"NO SURPRISE...NASCAR IS SPORTS CAR Racing
good kiwi driving well done new zealander
Go KIWI's. He is at the moment, the best in Supercars. But showed he is the best in NASCAR, whoops big problem!?
im hearing copium
And don’t forget, we sit on the other side , right hand drive😬
i challenge any Nascar driver to come here and win bathurst
Has always been fast. But it's no big deal for us Kiwis and Aussies to drive "left hookers" on our roads and your roads when we visit the States.
FFS, he and his gears were on the wrong side of the car. Lol.
Giz is a Kiwi, not an Aussie. New Zealanders make excellent race drivers. They're like the Finns in rally racing. BTW I'm an Aussie, not a Kiwi.
I've been to NZ. My theory is that all the bad Kiwi drivers are no longer with us.
take heart guys SVG qualified last for the last supercar race in Australia. As they saw Roster to feather duster.
Hearing excuses….. SVG came in and destroyed. It shows that there is more to racing than just doing ovals.
And I do however agree, he will be tested when he has to run ovals.
You are right when you compare Shane street racing skills to oval track, in August we will see how he goes in oval track , the truth will be revealed then. In his own words, the oval track racers should have it over him but wait and see I say, maybe he can get a top 10, he will be out of his league, not his skill🤞👍👍👍
Lol.😢
.🎉
This guy had a lot of excuses??
So, gotta think about this, like Burton said, for a second, he went up against drivers, in a series, on a track, that these cup drivers don't race on. Now, hes a great road course racer, but, nascar is an oval track sport. I think he can be good, maybe even great on an oval, because, ovals arent as complex as road courses, however, we need to lwt him in another cup race, an oval race, to truly see if he can race nascar.
Admit it America we breed em good here in New Zealand 😅😅😅😅😅😅
