I don't know why u haven't got so much reach for your video...an excellent presentation. As the differential failure is common on X5 E70, please make your title or add to your title ' BMW X5 E70 DIFFERENTIAL REMOVAL '...Will be useful for everyone...
Great presentation. There is no substitute for the special tools, because a wrench that grips like a pipe wrench will take a chance of egg-shaping that re-usable collar nut and do wonders for the threads. Also worth noting that the reason for using those marks is critical, for maintaining the proper preload of the pinion bearing.
What did you use for thread lock? The BMW service manual calls for Drei-Bond 1385 but it's stupid expensive! Thanks for making this video. Very informative.
Great video!

Great advice, we will do exactly that, thanks!
Is necessary to replace the small nut or is just fine to reuse it just to put little loctite?
This is just what I was looking for on an F30 328d- including expert advice and tightening torque. Thank you!
RAD! thanks!

What is the span measurement for the first screw? Please
Great video.
Does this go the same for an 04 x3 rear diff seal

that's a good question, i always opt for oem on parts like these. The nut on the oem part comes with threadlocker on it :)
slip that shaft back on spline and hold it then just turn that nut loose with that pipe wrench then pull that shaft back off
How long did this job take including interference removal? Thanks!
Really not that bad actually, if it wasnt for the cure time, maybe about 2-3 hours?
special service tool haha get that pipe wrench out
how much does something like this cost ?
it aint bad, the parts are small (get the oems tho.) and the labor is like 2hrs i think? there's the rust to contend with tho...
You forgot to put some grease between the nuts. At least it is not visible.
good eye! the oem nuts come pre-lubed, but we always add a little just in case. :)
