Creating a Central Model
Open Revit and Start a New Project:
Open Revit.
Click on "New" under the "Projects" section.
Select an appropriate template for an electrical project (e.g., Electrical-Default.rte) and click "OK."
Save as a Central Model:
Go to the File menu and select "Save As Project."
Choose a location on a shared network drive accessible to all team members.
In the "Save as" dialog, click on "Options."
Ensure "Make this a Central Model after save" is checked, and click "OK."
Name your project and click "Save."
Enable Worksharing:
Go to the "Collaborate" tab.
Click on "Worksets."
In the "Worksets" dialog, click "OK" to enable worksharing.
Create worksets relevant to your project, such as "Electrical Plan," "Lighting," etc.
Creating View Templates
Open the View Template Dialog:
Go to the "View" tab.
Click on "View Templates" and select "Manage View Templates."
Create a New View Template:
In the "View Templates" dialog, click on "New."
Choose the type of view template you want to create, such as "Electrical Plan" or "Lighting Plan."
Name your view template appropriately.
Set Up View Template Parameters:
Customize the view template settings as needed:
Visibility/Graphics Overrides: Customize what elements are visible in the view.
Discipline: Set the discipline to "Electrical."
Detail Level: Choose an appropriate detail level (e.g., Fine, Medium, or Coarse).
Scale: Set the view scale suitable for your electrical plans.
Filters: Apply any specific filters to control the display of electrical elements.
Assign View Templates to Views:
Select the views in the project browser to which you want to apply the view template.
Right-click and select "Apply View Template."
Choose the appropriate view template from the list.
Additional Tips
Organize Views:
Group your views logically in the Project Browser (e.g., Electrical Plans, Lighting Plans).
Coordinate with Other Disciplines:
Regularly synchronize your model with the central model to ensure coordination with other disciplines.
Use View Filters:
Create view filters to highlight or isolate specific electrical components, such as circuits, panel boards, or devices.
Annotation Standards:
Set up annotation standards within your view templates to maintain consistency across all electrical plans.
