- To some people, selling your Yamaha CL5 and QL1 consoles while they are still useful and requested, might be a dumb move. Kay just thinks different. In this video he explains his reasoning behind selling gear frequently. Do you agree with this business tactic?

I purchased dm3 standard version when you released the video for it last year and love it!
i would say a good idea of sealing used ql's would be a good amount off and before you sell them, ask the other companies you've worked with and made good relations with if they want them. that way its still acceble by rental. id like to make the money for what I paid for but its also good to save some money up for some time (5 years) for if a new board comes out from an old board reaching its lifetime. I've done so many events where the dm3 could've been a great small solution for where were have tight locations. and now the dm7 compact is something Im saving for since the ql5 take two guys to lift with a dog house. the compact is soooo light for one person to lift and get to right to setting up for the show.
Guest 2 COX !!!! haaaaa.. We know the girls love that
Makes sense to me. Doing what's best for business is mandatory! If you have a business, you understand! We don't pay your bills! Do what you gotta do!
Kay has been keeping y’all busy & working not a lot of folks can say that about the companies they work with. Y’all should start appreciating his decisions because obviously it’s working. Most companies under pay their crew & drown in debt because they’re busy acquiring the “best” gear. I can name companies along w/ their crappy rates for days who practice this bs..
👏 🙌 👏
Do you think K still would've added the HD96's had the DM7 come out first?
Hehehehe when I heard "dumpster fire" I already knew... my home venue is still using one.
Did you already had the chance to try a DM7 or did you order it only based on the online information?
Damn third DM3. I'm on a couple waiting list to just get one lol.
When you can buy gear at dealer cost and not pay interest, then you can turn and burn yo inventory. LS-9's are almost 2 decades old now. Kay complains about everything, except having upgrade fever. Does he not understand that the goal is to create quality content at the expense of running a successful production company.
k nails it again, can't wat to pick up a CL5 at my local all that glitters pawn shop.
Great video!!!! Sad to see the CL's go although I can see its the right decision.. Is a rivage in the pipeline!
It's not a Yamaha coming. 😮
Smart thinking from K imo.
How has the new shop been, it's been over a year I think?
It's fine. We're used to it. Office helps alot.
I would love a yz 490
Do you still have the “free” renovated LS9 from season 4?
Loong gone
Hey teddy when you coming out with another vid hehe I think I’ve seen all your videos now waiting on some content 🎥 👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks for watching! Hopefully soon. Kay was away so couldn't film. No one wants to see just me haha
How do I get to this point where I have an actual company with a big warehouse, employees, etc?.. I have been doing this for about 20-25 years and about 5 years ago I finally started making a living out of this, so I quit my job, but it seems I can’t get to the point where you guys are at, how do I get the contacts and contracts for big events that would push me to the next level ?, right now I am stuck in the middle, I have too much equipment for the events I do, but not enough to do the big events , what Am I missing ? what would you recommend me to do ?…. Thanks
Well, the question is, do you really want to get bigger and have all that overhead? And technically we're still a small company in the grand scheme of things.
We still know guys who kept their company small, make a good living, and stress way less.
If I may add, it’s a grind. With growth comes headaches and many pieces that most people overlook. You’ve got to pick your target customer and relentlessly pursue them. If the stars align (team, gear, clients) you get what K has here. Getting those stars to align is the toughest thing to figure out and there is no roadmap that is turnkey for success. Just a bunch of hard work and learning along the way. K doesn’t get nearly enough credit. At the level that they are playing at, one good lick could buy your vacation house, and one dry season could bankrupt you and put you on the streets.
Luck plays a big part….i met some key people early in my career
New gear is coming🔥
Maybe....maybe not. 😉

GOD ; I FUCKIN HATE PROFILES. People keep sending them out to festivals and shit and it drives me absolutely insane. They are not reliable anymore. Recently, I was mixing a festival and during soundcheck for the act I was on tour with - The board was slowly dying. I would turn an encoder and it would work, but after that first adjustment it would die. This slowly went throughout the entire console until I had zero encoders left functioning. Every time I would use the mouse I'd have to unplug and replug. By the end of soundcheck all that worked was my faders. I was happy that this performance got rained out because that was going to be a bad night lol.
Also; where can I find the Yamaha song?
There are plenty that work fine, you unfortunately got a poorly maintained desk. Carry your own desk or get with an artist that can has leverage to get better local production quality
Vintage yamaha commercials on UA-cam. I've basically used different variations in all of our Yamaha videos. 😄 🤣
LOL, man I normally do have my own desk. However, when I don't - I have a pretty solid production rider -- however, on tour as you may know sometimes shit falls through the cracks and this is the best they provided with no alternative options. I got lucky in that this one was rained out but management didn't really have my back in this situation and just wanted to make the best of it@@ilijahmora
I've also seen several other profiles die on the floor of my last house gig. I think they are at the end of their life expectancy.
Why y’all sold the video wall?
It was time. Currently working on getting a new one/upgrade before spring.
@@soundshopvlogs Yeah I figured thats why yall sold it. lol what brands yall been looking at?
Never mixed on any digital Yamaha that I liked. They all seemed to have thin brittle sounding pre's.
Rivage is much better than the Yamahas of old but still no Midas or Digico in terms of pre sound. I'd rather drive it over pretty much any other desk.
And now you buy Yamaha dm7
can't hear over the laugh track
The crowd laughed too hard. Plus, I didn't have a mic hooked up for this one 😆 🤣
