- I ride a motorcycle around the tropical island of Bali in Indonesia, exploring the coast line and places off the main tourist spots. In this episode I start in Kuta and head west, stopping in Balian and Medewi, checking out the surf, the villages and navigating the hectic traffic along the way.
Nice vid mate, the roads look a lot better than what I was expecting for a motorbike tour. Thanks again for your effort
Thanks mate, it's great to hear you enjoyed the ride around the island, it was a lot of fun.
I’m ready for pt.2 That was great!👍
thanks Scott, always fun to share these
maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate. epic vlog thanks heaps im heading there soon for a ride
thanks mate, in the 2nd and 3rd videos it shows the north of the island where the roads are a lot quieter. It is easy to get over to the island of Java as well. I didn't film it this time but going up into the mountains is epic, lots of small winding roads. Have fun over there.
Such a cool video mate thanks for sharing, waiting for the next video
thanks Raph, they're fun to make, so stoke people are enjoying them.
Hey Joe, I also own a Himalayan, love your videos, the Bali ones are great ..... all the Aussie one are fantastic..... cheers mate ...
Thanks Rodney, glad you are enjoying the video, they're a bunch more to come. Hope you're getting out and exploring on your Himalayan.
Amazing production work.
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it
I would have a heart attack
Hehe, I gather you mean the traffic, once you get used to it it all seems to make sense. I hope you enjoyed the video.
Can't believe how busy Medewi is now I was there in the early 90s and there wasn't that much there then.
Hi Geoffrey, yes it has changed a lot, I went there as a little kid it is busier now. The biggest change how ever is Uluwatu, it's quite sad really.
But I hope you go Medewi to yourself back in the 90's
@@freewayproject yes I think from memory just 3 of us out. The whole of Bali has changed but last year we spent a bit of time up the Candidasa area actually probably similar time to when you were doing this trip?? which was very nice no waves as you would know.
Yes I went back to Uluwatu several years back after not being there for probably 15 years and was blown away.
Loving your journeys Joe!!! Subscribed!!! What would you guess your total miles to circumnavigate the island?
Thanks Federico, I think it was between 350km - 400km 220mile - 250miles
Great video!! Excellent shots and audio. Did you use a video camera or phone with a drone? Curious how much gear to bring haha. Looking forward to the other vids
Thanks mate, I use a Sony A7SIII for all the shots off the motorbike and a DJI Osmo Action for all the helmet shots. The drone I have an old DJI Mavic. if you are interested in the camera gear I use, I go through it in a video I made on my solo motorbike camping gear, The camera gear is at the end of the video.

@@freewayproject Right on! I have the sony a7s3 also. Yeah, I will check out the vid. THNX!
What kind of bike is this?
Hi mate, it is a Kawasaki W175
What board did you bring? A fish? ;) Great video!
good guess Gordon haha, yep
Planing for something similar. Did you bring your own helmet/gear? Thanks
Hi mate. No I just used one of there's, not a great helmet selection but enough. I didn't have any other gear, I think I sat mostly on 40kmph, sometime going up to 60kmph, due to the road conditions, traffic, dog, monkeys. it hard to go fast there, plus I wanted to go slow so I could explore. There are shops there that sell new helmet etc..
hope that helps.
For any moke more powerful than a scooter you need to have your motorbike license and an international licence. (I have head they are cracking down on that in Bali at the moment)
Hey, how many days did it take to get around the island? Cheers
I took 5 days to get around the island but you could do it in one very long day if you wanted, it is about 350 - 400km around, it is difficult to go faster the 60kmph because of traffic monkeys and the road conditions.
Awesome, thanks for your reply. I am planning a week in Bali. So an extra few days to chill and relax with a sore butt 😅
Did you rent the Kwaka or buy it Joe?
HI Simon, I rented it form Alpha Custom Garage, they are just near Seminyak.
Solo my arse there are thousands around you.
Apologies, it sounds like English must be a second language for you. There is a thing called context (the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood) So in this situation Solo refers to the fact I am not traveling with anyone else, like someone traveling around the world solo, there are obviously lots of people they will come in contact with but they are traveling alone. Another language can be tricky with these kinds of things. I hope that helps, I hope you enjoyed the video.
I'm considering remote work options in Bali, I own a '17 zx6r, curious if you think a super sport is doable? I'm looking at Ubud area.
Yes Mat, but you won't really get a chance to get it past 60kmph much, the road around Ubud are narrow, no centrelines, animals (dogs, Monkeys), other bike and cars on the wrong side of the road consistently. So yes it will be fine there, you just won't be able to use it to its full potential. hope that helps
@@freewayproject Are there areas close-by ~1hr that have a bit quicker pace with smoother roads, etc? I dont mind doing weekend-venturing
there are mountain roads and most have hot mix (smooth tarmac), I don't know if. there are quite times where there is little traffic. There is the next island over to the east which is Lombok had it has the MotoGP track (it a short ferry ride. also there is the Ferry to Java to the west and they have more road infrastructure as Jakarta is on that island
@@freewayproject Thank you so much, Joe. I appreciate your responses
