I did test ride new manual Persona at GH few weeks ago during rainy weekend morning, got two cars overshoot the corner on the steep uphill section at the top both from the another P named manufacturer. Please guys, don't overestimate your skills. Doesn't matter if people says your car could ride well or not, cos it's all up to the one that behind the steering wheel.
@@ilabilab5776 pickup is good, but the throttle response has a bit delay so it's harder to execute rev match. No issue for me though so far as I rarely drive spiritedly.
The only advantage cvt has so far is smoother operation. No escaping jerkiness when operating the manual gearbox especially when driver has less experience like yours truly
@@ilabilab5776 I never tried manual Wira before but if not mistaken, they uses throttle cable right? So the throttle response on Persona may not feels as sharp if u used to driving car like Wira. The issue I have is when i try to feed the gas while pressing the clutch n dropping gear, tapping the throttle pedal quickly to increase rev will have slight delay before the needle dial up.

I remember the last time my sister lend me her iriz from Trg to Pen. Driving iriz at the Jeli-Grik-Kulim road was fun. Sure it was noisy roar and cant keep up with my spouse Passat but the fun I drove it alone was great. Few vios and citys playing cat and mouse and they gave in even before reaching Banding Lake. And the tires were protesting enough during the drive. If Proton create R3 version I’d bought one no question asked.

i own iriz 2019.. I love it damn very much.. i dun bother to drive other car anymore because of the charasteristic of the iriz really makes me enjoy my time driving every single day.. wanna ask proton if they sell r3 parts so that i can convert it.. Hehe
I bought 1st gen model....2014 1.6 premium auto. Great handling car...thumbs up proton. It has been 7 yrs now...still enjoy every time i take corners...on a dry day of course..😊 The only problem...punch cvt...if only proton hv opted for auto.🤔 Shld hv bought manual...but the wife had the upper hand...😕

Very good education for those who has less experience with their car handling especially when the road is wet. Cos many youngster tot that their car equipped with all the traction gadgets can drive like a hooligan and this will endanger other road users .. hopefully some of them listen to your advise and drive sensibly

However, with that said, a bit disappointed uncle to see the true handling capability of Iriz in normal optimal dry conditions. Can't compare handling to other cars.
Hahaha, I know what you mean. We are, however, not a testing body to do exhaustive testing. Think of us as sampling only. We share for fun and enjoyment only.
Uncle YS. What is your feeling driving the Iriz up Genting based on your memory? Since new Iriz is coming a many are hoping they change the CVT to 4AT. You were driving quite carefully since the road was wet. Looking forward to your review of the new Iriz too once it’s launched.
We will certainly do the same test with the new Iriz. Don't know the new specs, but ee will put out a video when the time comes. Yes, I was careful cos it was wet.
My friend ( girl) she got 2 unit one 1.3 and 1.6 iriz. She told me 1.6 hard cornering more stable and easy to control. For fuel consumption 1.6 better milage.
Since proton body is known hard and heavy. 1.3 probably stresses the engine to work 'harder' 1.6 which has more power enables it to run smoother therefore the fuel consumption sir

I would like to, but it is too far away. We are not looking for the worst roads but the best and safest roads. Safety is always top of mind. I am actually driving with lots of reserve, contrary to what some people seem to think.

Near the end, after the guardpost at the bottom, about 400m later. You can see the car, after the spin, on the other side of the road. I have other footage of 3 more cars off the road, but no action shot, only the aftermath. One car spun behind me as I was joining Duke from Duta, but that was behind me. I only say it in my rear mirrors, darting across the road and hitting the armco.
If u ever consider a manual, then get a manual! Seriously, you'll love the car more. Traffic jam is minor issue for me, commuting between Damansara n shah alam. The only time I really regret driving manual is after having leg day at gym.. Haha
Lots and lots of safety features now put into a car that can save you from a bad day, but as you can see from the road opposite side of uncle, all the safety wouldn't save you from bad driving.

Yes, of course. I think they are doing something, starting with the Saga. 5 and 6 speed boxes are nowadays easily available. On the other hand, cost management is another challenge.

Actually the CVT has no lag. You just feel that way because it runs at max torque and waits from R the speed to catch up. If you don't like CVT then you can go for the new Saga which has a 4 speed auto.

I always tell people to buy the most expensive tyres that they can afford. So check the various brands and get the best performance ones. The higher price ones are usually better. You can choose between the better brands, Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Yokohama, etc.
@@YSKhongDriving I drove with those Silverstones before, it's really sketchy in the wet even when driving in a straight line. I couldn't change them out soon enough. Uncle Khong driving skills truly legendary even crappy tires also submit to his will 😅

As a 2019 myvi owner, you can't imagine how loud that car in the rain. Super loud tires, super loud cabin . Especially at the back. The tyre noise really make me embarrassed. How about this iriz uncle ? Is it same ?

Yes especially at the roundabout. People didn't use it which caused a long traffic queue at the roundabout.
VSC and traction control helps iriz in the wet/rain as well as connering in the wet.

So the 2021 Iriz has an even better CVT now. The S (stepped mode) could be fun here.
It is an improved version that has been tuned differently.

Actually there is no lag from the CVT.
Actually the CVT has no lag. You just feel that way because it runs at max torque and waits from R the speed to catch up. If you don't like CVT then you can go for the new Saga which has a 4 speed auto.

I am considering a new set of tyres. After driving this car for a few month, I like it but the downside is really the set of stock tyres they gave. Any recommendations???
I always tell people to buy the most expensive tyres that they can afford. So check the various brands and get the best performance ones. The higher price ones are usually better. You can choose between the better brands, Michelin, Bridgestone, Pirelli, Yokohama, etc.

@@YSKhongDriving I drove with those Silverstones before, it's really sketchy in the wet even when driving in a straight line. I couldn't change them out soon enough.

Was wondering is Iriz driving more stable and fun than persona because of the no extra boot space ? Or the suspension memang tune for Iriz
The original car was the Iriz, but I am sure they did some tuning. Technically the shorter overhang shoul be an advantage, based on plain physics.

As a 2019 myvi owner, you can't imagine how loud that car in the rain. Super loud tires, super loud cabin . Especially at the back. The tyre noise really make me embarrassed. How about this iriz uncle ? Is it same ?
I never compared the two in terms of sound, so I cannot honestly tell you.
Uncle, may I know, iriz n persona, which one got more body roll? N which one got good handling?decide to buy..
Both are about the same, but Iriz should be marginally better

Go for iriz if you just want a driving pleasure. And choose persona if u need bigger boots, and persona also will give you a good driving feel.
Sifu, how was the breaking of the new iriz? Is it better than the older iriz?
It's the same brakes, so no change. Only the Saga has bigger brakes.
