This was my oldest brother's favorite song when he was alive. Vietnam vet who cherished our freedom here at home. R. I. P. Mike, we will meet again on God's golden shore.
I’ve known this song for 40 years but one day driving about 2 years ago with my wife I asked “what the heck is this song really about? I’ve never done drugs but it sounds like a mushroom trip to me.” She looked up the meaning and what you said was what we learned.
This has always been one of my favorite Creedence songs. I think I sometimes just have the musical tastes of a 3 year old, but I don't mind. It makes me happy.
Back in 1969 through 1972 Creedence Clearwater Revival were all over the radio dial. From my junior high school days to high school CCR was blasting out hit after hit. The lead singer, John Fogerty and his Brother, Tom Fogerty, had a gigantic falling out which broke the band up and started a long list of law suits that made CCR disappear from history for many decades. Thanks for bringing them back.
What do you mean disappeared?!? They became associated with the Vietnam war thanks to many MANY movies and shows about the war using their music and as can been seen by how many views their videos have on UA-cam, they have remained reasonably popular.
during an interview John stated he came home from the road. his kids were having a birthday party in the back yard. He came up with the song while talking with his son. he said no drugs were involved.
Another killer reaction to a classic banger. What I loved about Creedence most; it was just 4 guys with instruments having a good time hangin’ out. Their music could be a soundtrack to almost any activity you were getting into that day.
I'm 78 years old and 90% classic country fan. However CCR is by far my favorite group of any era or genre. I was in Vietnam when I first heard their music and I was hooked.
Songs like this bring me back to that time. Didn't matter how old one was, the music carried because life really was just this laid back. We were very very blessed to live this way with awesome music floating always on the wind. CCR is just awesome. Great reaction. Glad you enjoyed it.
The ultimate in ridiculousness occurred during one trial were Fogarty was, essentially, sued for sounding too much like himself in his solo efforts! That was thrown out of court also.
If I remember correctly the judge ruled that Fogerty wasn’t imitating the sound of CCR, but that CCR was using the sound of John Fogerty. The ruling was that you can’t forbid a person from sounding like themselves. The bad feelings from that and other legal actions kept John from singing any of the old songs for many years. I guess if you want to look at it one way this meant that for many years we got new songs from John that we might not have if he had just been content to sing the same old songs.
Imo, Creedence is the most underrated band ever, a lot of people don't care for classic music, but i absolutely love Creedence, and classic rock. Definitely needs more attention.
CCR wasn't around long, but they had more number two hits than any other band in rock history. So, they produced a lot of quality in a short amount of time. o
🙌🙌🙌 Love this one! U should definitely check out Fortunate son! That's one u will probably know once u hear it! And yes, every song by them is a classic! They honestly don't have a bad song! Someone else u NEED to check out is Bob Segar!! He's another one of those artists that every song is a gem!! Turn The Page would be a good place to start, but a few of my favorites are Mainstreet, Old Time Rock and Roll, The Fire Down Below, Hollywood Nights, Night Moves & Against the Wind!!
From Songfacts: This song was partly written for John Fogerty's son Josh, who at the time was three years old. Fogerty said: "I knew he would love it if he heard me on the radio singing - doot doot doo, lookin' out my back door." In the song lyrics there is a reference to a parade passing by which John says was inspired by a Dr. Seuss book that he read as a kid titled To Think (That) I Saw It On Mulberry Street.
He mentioned Buck Owens, who did a show called Hee Haw with Roy Clark. This brings back memories like The Porter Wagoneer Show with guest like Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette, Roy Acuff, George Jones, Ronnie Milsap, Rodger Miller, Conway Twitty, Buck Owens, Roy Owens, Patsy Cline and many others.
3 Artists my Momma listened to every day as I grew up. Riding with Her through the back country of WA State. Some of my greatest Memories and the Artists are: Credence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin and Johnny Cash. Love this reaction man!
For 3 years yes they dropped hit after hit after hit. All bangers. I would recommend trying Run Through the Jungle if you haven't already. And Down on the Corner, and Fortunate Son - the list goes on.

In the song lyrics there is a reference to a parade of strange creatures and sights passing by which John says was inspired by a Dr. Seuss book that he read as a kid titled To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street. Many people thought this song was about drugs when it was really an innocent song inspired by a child. According to the drug theory, the "Flying Spoon" was a cocaine or heroine spoon, and the crazy animal images were an acid trip. This wasn't plausible since Creedence Clearwater Revival was never into psychedelic drugs.
Yo me vuelvo loco con esa musica de Creedence toda la musica es buena , cuando yo era un adolecente en mi pais El Salvador en las fiestas del Colegio nadie se quedaba parado al escuchar la musica de los Creedence
CCR was a great band and this one was always my favorite. Such a wonderful lighthearted song. I always think of it when I am watching all my happy creatures dancing on my lawn.
Hey Black P i saw John Forgery in concert with 2 of his sons on stage with him here in Toronto Ontario September 18, 2022 ........ it was awesome to watch
Imagine being out on the lake at dusk. Blasting out on the stereo 8-track from the boat on the middle of the lake. Campsites all around lighting fires. And fireworks going off all around the lake in response. I experienced this.
"Who'll Stop The Rain" and yeah this is one of those bands that you know it's them in the first second. I hope you have done Bad Moon Rising...if not, maybe save it for Halloween because it's popular during Spooky Time. I assume you know about Black Betty....if ya don't then you probably want to stop right now and dude, get you an Alexa to sit next to you for quick answers!
I watched this before--I love the way you appreciate John. He wrote this for his kids. Also, John loved country music and he had several country tunes as The Blue Ridge Rangers, (John was ALL of The Blue Ridge Rangers). Plus, he loves baseball!! and wrote and sang "(Put Me In Coach/ I can play) Centerfield". John wore western cut flannel shirts and plain cowboy boots; so did his fans. He lived, wrote, and played working man music.
One of the best bands from that era. They hit really big with 14 top 10 singles in just the span of two years (69-71) so that's why you have heard A LOT of their songs. Lotta hits. Fogerty's distinct, powerful voice & the quasi-roots sound of the band are two of the things I like most about them.
Their albums were awesome! You could put one on and listen from end to end and not be disappointed! I have several of their albums!! We all used our imagination back in the day, we wouldn't have survived without a good imagination!
I’ve been a CCR fan since I was about 5 years old. My parents led me to the great music of the 50s & 60s. Then I had the great 70s music to grow up with. You can’t go wrong with early rock n roll and its evolution into the 80s. John Fogerty made a great comeback album with “Centerfield” in 1985. If you haven’t heard any of it, you should check it out. I like to call John’s current band “Creedence Clearwater Revived”.
every time i hear this song i am instantly transported to my 6 yr old self, hanging by my knees from the top bar of my swingset in our back yard and singing that song at the top of my lungs. my mother was probably in the kitchen, watching me out the window, doubled over laughing with tears running down her face. ah, such good times.
Willie Nelson released an album titled To All The Girls. One of the duets on the album is with his daughter Paula. It’s a haunting cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Have You Ever Seen The Rain.
This band made me love music other than country that my parents played - First heard it when I was a kid on my older cousin’s 8 track tapes. 😊CCR all the way 😊
CCR! 'Have you ever seen the rain?' & 'Who'll stop the rain?' are their 'rain' songs. LOL So many other great tunes too! 'Fortunate son', 'Bad moon rising' 'Suzie Q' & 'Down on the corner' to name a few. Love me some Southern Rock.
Absolutely amazing band!! Part of a generational icon music that stood against the war, and is still to this day listened to by people at at war, and put into movies!! And they just have amazing music all around!! And how in the holy F*** have they never had a number one song???!!!!!! Just blows my God damn mind!!!

R.I.P. Mike . . . You're loving brother keeps your memory alive. 🎉 🙏
R.I.P. Mike.
My two brothers went as well. CCR is part of the soundtrack of our lives.
Sorry for everyone’s loss.
Sending ☮️ and 💓 from the UK 🇬🇧.
Forgerty wrote this for his 3yr old son, fantastical imaginative lyrics with fun colorful characters ♥️
His little boy's birthday party in the backyard
That’s what he told the press😇
Exactly
@@carolyncarter1983 LOL, i was thinking the same thing!
Is that what it is?!?! I always thought it was an acid trip! 😅😅😅
CCR was one of very few hit bands that didn't do drugs. I'm sure you've heard many CCR tunes in numerous movies. Good music is eternally relevant.
This is a song he wrote based on a conversation with his 3 year old son, who was imagining these creatures cavorting in his backyard.
I’ve known this song for 40 years but one day driving about 2 years ago with my wife I asked “what the heck is this song really about? I’ve never done drugs but it sounds like a mushroom trip to me.”

Inspired by a Dr. Seuss book he read to him.
That’s his story and he stuck to it😇

CCR had their first big hit in 1968 with Susie Q.
@@NiteowletteWe danced to it in high school! Still love it.
during an interview John stated he came home from the road. his kids were having a birthday party in the back yard. He came up with the song while talking with his son. he said no drugs were involved.

We were a creative generation.
Another killer reaction to a classic banger. What I loved about Creedence most; it was just 4 guys with instruments having a good time hangin’ out. Their music could be a soundtrack to almost any activity you were getting into that day.
Bad moon arising! Have you ever seen the rain! Call them CCR. We all do
Two great ones that need to be revisited
I'm 78 years old and 90% classic country fan. However CCR is by far my favorite group of any era or genre. I was in Vietnam when I first heard their music and I was hooked.
Thank you for your service 🇺🇸
Country?... Most Country is just piss poor Rock en Roll now a days.
That was thrown out of court also.

thats right on, Paul Zantz (i think that was his name) sued john over the CCR songs rights@@stevedavis5704
CCR was HUGE when I was in school, everyone know the words to all of their songs.
CCR are an American Treasure
Yes!! Hit after hit, album after album! One if the greatest bands evet!!
🤘 -awesome !-
Banger, reminds me of my pops..miss u dad year 8. C.c.r is for all them Vietnam vets...
F ,cancer and agent orange and the government who dropped it on are own men
John wrote this song about his literally looking out his back door at all of the folks he hired for his son's birthday party.
Love Creedence Clearwater Revival awesome group
CCR HAD SO MANY SO MANY HITS
Puff The Magic Dragon was all imagination also. The other connotations were from people who had to find evil in every lyric.
Love how Fogerty is sitting in front of a picture of himself in the same flannel
Did he have only one shirt? Or was it his fav shirt? Lucky shirt? The world may never know.
He wore a lot of flannel.@@jayeisenhardt1337
Man, I wish Pops was still here to see your reactions...he woulda LOVED em'! Thanks again Bro!
When I was a kid we would go out to our uncles farm and I would swing on the swing for hours singing Cotton Fields❕❗I Love CCR❕❗
My daddy love that song but he always preferred it by Leadbelly
To answer your question, an album from these guys sounded fantastic..... every time!!

Yes to Seger (pronounced See ger). He's fabulous. You probably have heard Old Time Rock and Roll. I'd suggest Night Moves.
Yes! Fortunate Son is my favorite! And YES to more Bob Seger!
John Fogerty also done some solo stuff. Maybe check out CenterField.
Have you ever seen the rain is one of their bigger songs they have a lot of great songs

Always one of my favorite CCR tunes. I loved the country vibe, his guitar break had a rock-a-billie style picking. All around a feel good song.
One of the happiest songs of all-time. 😊
Along with Roger Miller's You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd.
CCR has always been one of my favorites. I grew up in the late 60's, early 70's with my older teenage siblings playing their music all the time.
inspired by the Dr. Seuss book "And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street" for his 3 year old son

CCR if you start playing their music you can go about 24 hours just playing them. And so many almost all are greats

Every album they ever did except for their last album when he caved into pressure from the other members and let them write songs, was a classic.
CCR - Proud Mary, please
Yep, ya need to know this one!
These guys laid the ground for southern rock so 😎😊
These guys are so awesome! I am 68 and I still love listening to them. Love your reaction! ♥

The line about Buck Owens was always what made it legit, & gave it street cred for me.
My favorite CCR song.
❤❤❤love CCR!
There's a Bad Moon in the Rise..
Fortunate Son is awesome
Simple yet extraordinary. CCR is in their own genre. Unique. Beautiful.
What's unbelievable is this guy still sounds this amazing!!! I love CCR
Thanks for keeping this music alive

This band made me love music other than country that my parents played - First heard it when I was a kid on my older cousin’s 8 track tapes. 😊CCR all the way 😊
Your comment about Puff the Magic Dragon. That's not a drug song. It's about a little boy growing up. Super sad song.

John Fogerty is still touring. He's got a bunch of dates in the U.S. in June.
He's here in Raleigh on June 5th with George "Thoroughlygood," and Hardy Har! See y'all there.
This came out when I was 13, and I was just transitioning from The Monkees and bubble gum pop. Not having any older brothers or sisters, I was a late bloomer I guess to the "harder" stuff 😂
Always always loved this 🎵 ❤
4:30 was just getting ready to say. Nobody sings like that anymore. Wicked awesome voice.
Once ur a parent who's been away and u come in to see this scene of happy kiddies and a great partner u write a happy song about ur feels.
My best band from my youth just found that you have done now three of their songs and your impression of it is great hoping for more of your respect of them
CCR catalogue is chefs kiss! ❤😊
"Bother me tomorrow, today I'll find no sorrow" one of my favorite lines in most any song
Agreed
They are all having a blast! I love the song and I love this video.
Fogerty was one of those singers that was basically the voice of a generation. CCR's album Cosmo's Factory is easily one of
the greatest albums ever made.
Every single song on the Cosmos Factory album had radio playing time. One of the best albums ever.
John wore flannel' and still does to this day. He has stuff on youtube with his kids and/or grandchildren
My favorite group as a teenager. I had every album of CCR!
Someday Never Comes and Long as I can see the Light are my favorite CCR songs but they have sooo many good ones. Those 2 always just hit me deeper and bring tears to my eyes EVERY time i hear them. 42yr old female
love this group and there music
They helped me clean house, I danced while having the music loud, getting my chores done quickly!
This is such a fun song. Hard not to smile while it’s playin.
Ccr is my go to when im having a bad day. They just make me feel good
CCR ❤❤❤❤ We had the best music to grow up to!
I can hear the ‘Help’ in this too.
Do yourself a favor - not sure if you’ve ever heard of an Aussie singer by the name of John Farnham but he is an AMAZING male vocalist, one of the best you’ll ever hear and he has his own version of Help, live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
It’s hands down one of the best live performances you’ll ever hear. Check it out, you won’t regret it 👌🏼
