Battlefield 5's open beta gave everyone the chance to try out DICE's changes to the Battlefield tank formula (limited turret rotation & limited ammo/supply stations) and in my opinion with a little teamwork the changes make tanking FAR more rewarding than in BF1 or previous titles.

The tanks are GREAT now. You don't die instantly to a single random soldier any more. Turret rotation is great now as well. I had a blast in tanks.
Yea, it's not perfect, but I still thought they were better than some previous versions were. The turret traverse speed alone was a hell of an upgrade.
The tank rotation is so fast to do a 360°It feels like 10 sec. It will take a Tiger Tank 15.7 sec for the turret to turn.

The new turret rotation is really cool IMO. It gives it that little extra feeling of a real WW2 Tank. I'd wish they gave to the engine of the Tiger a bit better sound :)
The whole point on console is that when you turn the turret in third person and have the crosshairs aimed at for instance 9 o'clock, but then zoom in the crosshair is suddenly in a completely different place. It is probably a bug but it is disorienting. It would be a solution to have the third person camera stick to the movement of the barrel. So when you turn from 12 to 9, the camera follows the movement. It would disable the third person free-look but would definitely fix the clunky third to first person transitions.

Awesome video, dude. You’ve echoed a lot of my thoughts I had during a round spent almost exclusively using the same Tiger tank to great effect. The tankplay in BFV is super rewarding, and seems to me far more realistic than previous BF titles (slow turret/general toughness of their armour). Not only that, but in my experience with the beta, they’re tricky to kill even without infantry support, though I hadn’t unlocked the Panzerfaust yet and seemingly neither had anyone else on the server. Given those conditions, the tanks felt appropriately threatening and scary enough to make you run from them. In BF1, I always felt like the tanks were far too easy to take out with the ubiquity of the AT rocket for the assault class. Maybe it’ll be like that in the full game given that most will have better AT capabilities, for at least for the beta, the tanks really worked for me. Cheers for your content, dude. Good to see other people enjoying the game amidst the torrents of negativity.
Tanks were never this great to play. People complaining about the turret need to GIT GUD and realize tanks are no longer those immortal gods that could charge into battle with no consequence and dominate everyone. And if things went south, you could just Shift+S and disappear. Now you actually have to think and strategize before you go in. Tanks are amazingly powerful if you use your head. In fact, the whole game is working that way now. This Battlefield puts the other to shame regarding teamwork...

Great video, the tanks in BFV are awesome. If I could change anything in BFV it would be the destruction. The cars, trucks, trolleys, old boards, wooden boxes, and tarp cover supplies should be destructible when you fire the main gun or when you drive over them with your 60 ton tank.

I love the fact you can have a swivel gunner on the top, makes for great gameplay and more fun!
I like it aswell, but most people never use it since you can easily get taken out by a sniper.
It's fucking useless. They should add a ducking feature.

Finally some german soldiers actually looking like german soldiers. It changed the feeling of ww2 so much compared to the Alpha.
Took me like 5 minutes to get adjusted to the new tank settings. Once I got the hang of it, I was a tanker pretty much any chance I could get in the beta. Love all the changes, makes it more challenging.
I love the changes to the turrets it takes more skill and thought to do good in tanks. I almost exclusively used the Valentine tank and by the end of the beta had it upgraded enough that I could take on two tanks at once and win. Last battle I was in was my Valentine versus a Tiger 1 and a sturmtiger. I came out on top using my 6 pounder gun and borderline useless (at the moment) line charges
The tank changes are nice, great teamwork and skill being rewarded is nice to see.
Up the splash damage just a little and it’ll be great
Bmazin 13 for real though, you gotta like directly hit em with the shell for it to even damage em.
Me and my buddy did something similar and ended with constant 45-65 Kills and 0 deaths

It's actually an Ausf.E in BF5, just putting that there.
After the alpha, I had in my mind a balance fix for tanks because it was so hard to sneak on them as they could be using third person camera and just intantly turn and shoot you. The way dice had balanced tank MGs was stupid in the alphas, they overheated ridicilously fast. Limiting turret rotation was my fix to make them feel more realistic and give players the chance to sneak up on tanks who were not careful and allowing MGs to be better yet not too powerful. I was really excited when Dice actually did that, like they were listening feedback so much I didn't even have to say anything. :D
I did so well in tanks in the first few days of the beta but it got more difficult because when you start off the assault class only gets dynamite and only 2 of them and when you rank up you unlock the panzerfaust which is great for fighting tanks
up the splash damage a tiny bit, was so satisfying killing snipers on the bridge with the tiger tank :P

for splash damage id say impliment ap and he shells for tanks with them ap for tanks low splash good pen he for infantry lowish pen high slash though british tanks were never actualy issued he shells for their tanks though in fact they also didnt use ap rounds with an he filler
2023, still love an play the game almost everyday. I wish bf 2024 felt like it a little
You should have tried the upgrades. S-mines are excellent when Infantry swarms you.
Been playing BF since BF2, but i have to say that tanking has never been so boring as in BF 5...
You mean all the people who had to kill themselves in order to respawn as an assault ? I wonder if they were able to play the class that they really wanted to play. It's not like there is something around the map who could be picked up by the players in order to do some damages to a tank. That optical invisible camo device makes it kind of hard to find them in order to be able to fight back. If only there was a panzerfaust crate somewhere.
Agree somewhat I feel sorry for players going against tanks splash damage is enough, I’ve always been tank player on BF3 and BF4 hated them on BF1 but yea i luved the tanks In BFV it’s different takes slightly different tactics but I’ve killed 3 of the enemy tanks and killed 33 people in one go of a tank on my own, people who get battered with the new mechanics just need to be more careful.
It is funny, because the german tigre's top machine gun could be operated inside the turret by means of a periscope.

I would have loved helping out tankers in the Beta if they would have had a fucking repair tool available for us.
Support players who pulled out the toolbox ("T" on PC) had their repair torch as they've always had, but this wasn't clear for a lot of players
Watching this in 2020. So many complaints about this game from the community but I love tanking in BFV. Going back to 4 and 1, just not as artful or dynamic in those games.

The Tiger may be one of the most famous tanks of WWII but only around 1100 were made during the war. Compare that to the 40.000 some Sherman tanks the US made during the war.
Ryan the most accurate number of tigers manufactured is around 1300 to 1400 . The tiger was also one of the most feared tanks of ww2 . There was thing called tiger-phobia . Which some allied soldiers were terrified to death of running into the "unstoppable " tiger. This help create to the legend of the Tiger as know today . When allies soldiers ran into german tanks ,mainly allied infantry , called them tigers . When in reality they were most of the time panzer IV and panthers .
Patrick Mallett I had only heard 1100, but 1300 doesn’t make much difference to 40000 not to mention the soviets T-34. But I wasn’t saying the Tiger wasn’t formidable. I remember reading that it would usually take 3-4 Shermans to take out a Tiger and they’d lose 2-3 Shermans in the process. I only meant to showcase the Tigers impact by showing its fame despite its lack of numbers compared to the US Sherman.

I can’t stand it that the British Army replaced the actual Dutch Army which fought at Rotterdam.
Rotterdam, was actually held by a platoonsize Marine unit +Instructors and a bunch of new Radiomen who were in the army for like 3 weeks.
Look for the battle of the 4 lion bridge.
They had a navy vessel too btw (Gunboat) giving them hell.

How did you get a 3rd person in the tank? It only ever let me have one person besides myself in the Tiger
It's one of the Level 3 Upgrades on the Tiger. Don't know what Level it is on the other tanks though

They are rather hard to master, but once you actually get the hang of things it is a pure death machine.

I played my first game with a tank and got 39-0 so its extremely easy if you are used to play world of tanks and older battlefield games , but this game is dead and won't sell many copies.

They need to give tanks more ammo or make it quicker to reload them. It's so stupid that you have go back to your spawn and sit there for like 5 minutes until all your ammo is back, and most of the time you just get taken out while your resupplying. Seriously, whoever came up with that idea needs to be fired.

A tiger tanks turret doesn't even spin that fast. People who try to change things like this are the ones ruining actual skill and strategy for just chaos and easy kills. Sad life gaming has come to.
