Check out this video to learn how to use the Lyft rider app:
• Lyft Passenger App-How...
To schedule a ride with Lyft
Open the App and enter your pickup location.
In the same window to the right of your pickup location is a tiny little clock.
Tap the little clock and you will see to the left a scrolling window that will let you pick the day of your pickup. This will go out up to 7 days.
To the left, you will set the time of your pickup. Pickup times are in increments of 10-minute windows.
Double check your pickup date and time.
Set your destination as usual.
If all looks good, hit Schedule Lyft in the app.
You can cancel the scheduled pickup any time up to approximately 15 minutes before the pickup time. (This time may change or vary, so if you do need to cancel, be sure to do it ASAP to avoid a cancellation fee). The cancellation fee($10 usually) goes into effect if your driver has started your way and invested time in picking you up and you cancel during this time frame.
You can cancel by opening the Lyft app and tapping on the box on the upper right-hand corner that has your scheduled ride listed.
A great new option for scheduling your pick-up up to 7 days in advance in the Lyft app.
I am in Nassau County, NY on my app it does not show a clock option, how can I schedule in advance?
I don’t have a clock anywhere in the screen and I don’t have any way to cancel a ride. The Lyft terms and conditions say to go to ‘edit ride’. Guess what -there is no edit ride either! Extremely unhelpful app!! You better know very well in advance how to cancel a ride beforehand. Your video doesn’t address all these problems!
well unfortunately, mine either, weird stuff
My app has no clock icon or option to schedule a future pickup.
Thank you. Just learned something new.
This must be only certain cities because mine doesn’t have the clock option
What city are you in if you don't mind my asking. Lyft is tricky. They vary from city to city. I can't image why this would not be available everywhere. It's been an option forever in my state.
I’m currently trying to use this feature in Grand Forks
I contacted Lyft and Scheduled rides are not available yet in your area yet. So sorry! : (
Yeah same thing for me too. I don't have the option in my hometown. I'm in Humboldt County way in northern California.
Your definitely right because I live in Charleston S.C. and I don't have it either. It sucks because were a pretty good sized city with a massive tourism industry. Do you know if UBER has this option? Its a pain trying to use LYFT get to work at 5am every morning.
I appreciate that you are Portlandian as well helping others that may be new to the application. I linked this to a family member and I realized they have changed the process unless it’s different on windows or android...but I found they changed it quite a bit so it makes the video outdated. Wish you luck and appreciate the time you did put into this. Keep it up, you are helping others that do not know there way around devices and I think that’s awesome!
You are too kind! And you also prompted me to create a new video for scheduling a ride with the most current Lyft app. You can see it here:

I'm new to lyft. Thanks for this video on scheduling a ride in advance. I like to try to get all my rides this way if I can.
I love this video and appreciate it so much! I am legally blind so it’s hard for me to see and figure out things for myself so thank you for showing this! Also the older version of this video is better for me as I can see and understand it more and I scheduled my first Lyft it was different I don’t have the time next to it but I saw when I zoomed in that it said schedule! I also had to change the time to earlier to get a time I wanted as they will come later to get me
Thank you so much for this video! You've made it so easy!
Karen Manning, You are so welcome!
I think this is actually an ad for Voodoo Donuts! Informant obviously unaware ( or forgot to mention) that this 'clock' option is only availabe to a small percentage of Lyft users
Hi thanks, I wanted to thanks for the way you present. You make it very easy to learn and absorb and retain information.
Thank you! I'm so glad you found it helpful! 😋
Thanks 🙏
Thanks for posting. I couldn't figure out how to do it without the video. Turns out if you have "shared line" selected the schedule option never appears. Very problematic if it's the first time you try to use it.
my app does not show the clock icon. Yes, the app is updated. I live outside Philadelphia.
You should have continued with what actually happens on the day you scheduled the ride, whether you have to check the app to verify that your order has not been canceled, the driver info , what time they are arriving and if a time window exists.
You also should have scheduled an actual ride somewhere and if everything, from start to finish, actually occurred.
I agree! I have a ride "supposedly" scheduled for tomorrow morning at 4:05am to the airport and all they tell me is to "Be Ready at 4:05am" in the bubble up top. I would like some kind of confirmation that someone is scheduled to come pick me up or if they're just simple waiting for a pickup response from a driver or something of what's going on. I guess I won't know anything until tomorrow morning at 4:05am, if they show up. I'm not feeling very confidant that a ride is coming! There is room for improvement for "scheduling in advance" with confidence that someone is actually coming, before they come.
omg thank u
You are SO welcome! : )
No clock for me either and I’m in Oviedo, a suburb of Orlando, FL. It would be nice to schedule one in advance. I guess I’ll just do Uber instead.
Need to show how to add second or third pickups (carpool) for example, all going to one event.
There cal calendar isn't there the top-right so how do you schedule one
ok how to finish ride (drop off) in the application, if drop off location doesn't much app...sometimes passanger wants to get out earlier many times just for his convience or app is inaccurate...I dont see any option to complete the job if it happens for any reason....
Don't set a pin. Always off i know. Always use an actual address
I live in Upper Marlboro, MD near DC. I dont understand why my app doesn't have a clock to preschedule a ride. I also dont understand why Lyft doesn't have a customer service telephone number.
Hi Carol, sorry it's taken me a while to get back to you. Unfortunately, Lyft has different options for their platform based on city and they change the format frequently, So, one never knows for sure what options are available at a particular time...frustrating, I know! Chances are, however, that there are enough drivers active in your area, that if you do not have the scheduling feature, you can order a ride and be assured that a driver will be there when you need one. There are ways to directly contact Lyft. They will answer you pretty quickly on Twitter ay @asklyft OR they do have a Facebook page through which you can message them. facebook.com/lyft/ Hope this helps!
Mine doesn't either and I live in Connecticut
Do you know if we get that price? Is it set for sure ? Cause mine is at 6 AM and I’m not sure if they will surge the charge way up.
+++++++++ NOTICE +++++++++++
This is only available in certain areas (large cities)
99% of users won’t see this!! 👎☹️☹️☹️
I have the "schedule" option on my app, but it's grayed out and not active. I'm in NJ!! WTF
It's so hard to tell with the app sometimes. They changed it all the time and they may just be doing an update, so it might be available later. Especially if you've had it before.
If you have the clock does that mean its avalible in your city? I'm currently in rohnert park. Thanks!
Do you know if Lyft tells you if a driver chose your scheduled ride to give you the service?
I scheduled a lyft for saturday and it just says confirmed.......so do i have to wait till Saturday to see who my lyft driver will be? (Can someone please help me )
Have a ride scheduled for tomorrow at 4am and the bubble shows so I know its scheduled but I was wondering, how do I see my driver? Does it only show when someone is on their way? Are drivers not able to accept the ride ahead of time? Just worried that no one is actually coming to pick me up lol.
Tone Pursuit If you schedule the ride you actually won't see the driver until they're on their way but Lyft gives them a certain time frame to sign on to head your way in case for some reason they don't log on in time to pick you up then Lyft will actually go out and find an active driver to head your way. As soon as they are on the way, you will get all their information. If you live in a larger city this shouldn't be a problem at all in case the initial driver fails to log on there's always secondary and third drivers as backup to make sure you get picked up.
Rideshare Silver thank you so much!
Yea i do not have that option.... it updated and everything. There's no clock or manual option😑
Some smaller cities don't have this option yet. Hopefully, as usage and drivers increase in your area, it will become available. : (
Just signed up with Lyft and I would like to setup a link for business cards and online adds. How or where would I find them or create one? Thanks in Advance
URGENT! Need to change the time of my scheduled lyft ride. How do I do that?
Just got your message, hope it's not too late. In the upper right corner of your screen in the Lyft app, you should see a little calendar icon. You have to cancel the ride and reschedule. I've just recorded a video to show you how to do this:
ua-cam.com/video/savy3rrMi5k/v-deo.html
Can you schedule a same day pick up?
I had the clock ⏰ icon dissappear since my updates 🥵🥵🥵🥵
I'm not sure if my Lyft ride is scheduled. How do I check to find the status?
Open the Lyft app and there should be a notification bubble on the top right corner of your screen that has the date and time of your pickup. If you watch the video again, at the 2:45 second mark, it shows you what it should look like. Hope this helps!
I don’t have the clock on mine I’m in San Diego
Is this outdated? There is no pin, there is on schedule option. wtf?
Bill. No clock icon anywhere. Probably not on yours either. Otherwise you’d show it. Why make a video and involve screen shots... just to NOT show the Crux of the whole video? *sigh* yankees
