Yes. Its always been implied in the classics. And yet (as far as I know) it all changed in SDMI and even Be cool scooby-doo did it that Fred owns the van. Its just out of his character to make the van very hippie-like. Shaggy on the other hand totally makes total sense.

@@Wednesdaywoe1975 Actually, the creators didn't want Shaggy to be a stoner, that was a false rumor. The creators of the original Scooby-Doo show never meant for Shaggy to be perceived as a stoner. They were annoyed by the marijuana references in the live-action movie.

True. As a fan of the OG material Riverdale could’ve been way better and true to og fans. I had no problem with Bughead but the fans are toxic as hell especially to og fans. The only character who is close to how they’re like in the comics is Archie but yet again, the show isn’t good so it doesn’t matter. I’d like to see that idea work on Scooby-Doo and actually make it like the source material

The only thing about Shaggy is that he isn't a stoner. The fact is that kids, when they go through a growth spurt, consume a large amount of food. I know because I wasn't a stoner and my dad used to complain all the time that I had a hollow leg because I ate so much. It could be that Shaggy could just be growing taller and getting broader and taller. Since he is always depicted as a teenager there is no way to compare how he would act as an adult. Just my two cents.

With this show being released, I feel like there’s a scale to Scooby Doo. There’s A Pup Named Scooby-Doo, which goes full Looney Tunes with humor and monster designs, which is on the far right end of the scale. To the complete other side is going to be this show, which seems to be targeted towards a more teen and young adult audience like Riverdale and the Archie Comics(hopefully it’s not as bad). Mystery Inc.(Animated) is in the middle, having a serious and overarching narrative and exploration of character relationships, if it sometimes stumbled through, while never forgetting what made Scooby-Doo so memorable, it can be crafted for any audience. That’s a thing I love about Scooby-Doo, not only the timelessness of the characters themselves. It can be made for any audience. It can be mostly aimed at children, which the original, A Pup Named, and What’s New so perfectly, or can have some elements ironed out to be a mostly realistic teen drama, which is what this show seems to be doing. Don’t fail us, learn what the other Mystery Inc. did right and *incorporate* it into their story telling.

When I saw this I check to see if it was going to be by the CW. I have very little doubt that it isn’t since the CW is a part of Warner Bros but here’s hoping that it’s on Netflix or literally any other network.

Honestly, I don't know how this isn't already a show. A darker adult take on Scooby Doo is something that can actually work as a mystery horror show if done right with a proper budget. Even if you can't make more episodes of this, I really hope this concept finds it's way to Netflix or HBO because this deserves to be a full length show.

Frankly, I didn't like Riverdale. The darker tone just doesn't fit with Archie imo. BUT, the Mystery Inc. cartoon proved that a darker tone can work for Scooby Doo, so I'm looking forward to this.

I know you guys are probably sick of the comparisons but this is what I'd want out of Riverdale if I gave a crap about Archie. I can still look at these characters and say "Yep, that's the gang." Even with slightly darker edges. And Scooby-Doo as a launching point for a "Dark" take on something makes sense given Zombie Island, Witch's ghost, and Invaders and the live-action flicks which friggin WENT THERE, ya know? I hope to see more in the future, best of luck.
Original Mystery Incorporated from 2011 is probably the best series ever made and it in fact also was bit darker. I'm bit disappointed that it isn't a sequel, or is it?

I remember watching the cartoon version of "Mystery Incorporated" - I gotta say, that aside from the original Scooby-Doo series being my favorite, it turned out to be a rather interesting take on the Scooby Gang. The characters did retain their personalities for the most part, with personal growth - but also seeing a darker, more sinister theme with the Cursed Treasure of Crystal Cove and the evil Being the sole reason why their home was so haunted. I'd enjoy seeing a series like this made real.

I actually wish the series would have gone on a bit longer than two seasons. Although it did had a great ending and a surprising twist.
Frr, Mystery Incorporated had real mystery. The others were pretty consistent, they're somewhere in the world, there happens to be a monster/mystery, look for clues, run away and song sequence, solve the mystery. Lol, entaining ofc but boring after awhile. Mystery Incorporated kept me on my toes and not to mention the romance and comedy🤷♀️ It would be amazing to see that series come to life

@Gabe Stein I know also that because it's a cw show all the characters that are gay are cast in a somewhat negative light but they can have suicides and people overdosing on drugs because apparently that's much more appropriate to show than gay people. It’s an indie film trailer to raise money to make a pilot episode to pitch to different networks to take on and to make an actual TV series. This happens all the time around different major city’s. Typical a pilot is shot and produce about 6 months to year pryer before the actual first seasons is film, if the network decides to pick it up.
So is this a fan made project? Just came across this in my recommended looks sick af. Hope this becomes an actual series or movie.

This is how to make an adaptation of Scooby Doo into feature film. Even some of their outfits can be changed from day to day (cause life+changing clothes lol) to fit them and work (kinda like a lot of the animated films) and then have classic but updated looks. Also, based on the title and concept, the main inspiration is probably Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated. The absolute best series that should've gotten a third season at least of Scooby Doo. 2:52 and I am super impressed. This NEEDS to be picked up for a mini-series, a movie, or a full tv series by someone. Even the dog looks like Scooby Doo and it's a real dog, pulling that off took some good thought and effort.
In addition, Fred's desire and the team up shows more of an origin than "oh clubhouse" or "knew each other as kids" which are fun and cute (pup named scooby doo, monsters unleashed's best scene really) is one thing already better than even M.I.
Hollywood needs new talent like this to put out stuff people actually will love and remember and not forget as a bad fad, or a retcon, punch in the face, bad remake, etc.

Probably because Scooby's speech was relatively simple and limited. Salem was famous for his snarky comments and hilarious jokes. Not making him talk removes a lot of his character.
@@volcaniclord And you don't think they've taken away a lot of Scoob's character? He didn't have lengthy conversations, but plenty of "Ruh roh!"s and snickers that contributed to the character, who seems to be completely lacking in personality as a real dog.

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is far more accurate to the comics than the comedy stuff that was done a long while ago. uses much more realistic(those that don't believe magic is actually real can stay quiet as I'm a huge believer of magic and will defend it... violently) ways of performing magic than just speaking English. besides, the show uses a similar thing to Sven and Cristoff(not a big fan of the Frozen universe, but I did enjoy those two characters. they were the Han and Chewie of Disney animation) for Salem and Sabrina.
Yeah plus, while the cat talks like a human, scooby talks oddly enough like any dog (mostly huskies to my knowledge) would when they try to speak human. So makes sense if they don't have him talk (Or they could train the dog to do so, lol)
