@@Lennart.R.LK.Bonsai yeah it's just for such a heavy sound usually you'd run it into a distorted amp like a Marshall or a Mesa. Goes to show you can get some KILLER tone with some basic gear

This album is so fucking good. Hell is one of the best out there right now. I've got every release and you're never let down.
Sunn 0))) is fantastic. Electric Wizard is quintessential. Pagan Alter is Classic. Black Sabbath is the grand daddy.

Love that last track! Hauntingly beautiful and somehow heavier than the rest of this album in its own way. Made me look up what was being quoted. It’s an Emily Dickinson poem “I felt a funeral, in my brain”.
It's actually the intro track to the album believe it or not. We've got it on vinyl. Maybe they switched it up for digital.

I blew my speakers and broke my 1970 Pioneer turntable playing this record. Worth it.

@@apollo_gen not yet, i have to take it apart. Right channel is dead and it is not the cartridge / stylus. I amhoping that it is just wires that need re soldering / replacement. I got newer turntables, but none of them play as good as my "concrete slab". Those 1970 Japanese turn tables are something else.
True story: That opening riff was so heavy it made my neighbors poop their pants when I heard it.

Saw them at Roadburn a few weeks ago. Didn't know what to expect, but they killed it! Normally not so into Doom, but loved it.
This and volume 2 with mourn and occierde are my favorites.
I loved the HELL Trilogy released some years ago, I-III. This will be a nice treat. I haven't listened since III was released. Thanks for sharing.

Rob, in 2017, as you, I gave this album #1 spot on my TOP 40 Doom Worship countdown. It's July 31'st 2023, no one has come close to best it, in any way. I am so glad I was there to experience it along with the other diehards and Lower Our Heads in amazement and reverence. I knew then, it would be impossible to beat.

Best blackened doom I've ever heard...should be top 5 for 2017 in the doom,sludge,black,death metal category! Vocals are insane, riffs insane...its like they broke the music into 1 minute segments and said, "how can we make this minute bad as fuck?"...then did it 49 times after that till they reached the end! PLeeeeaaaasse tour!!!

I've heard everything they've recorded...and love every note! I don't think enough people know about them...maybe thats a good thing...I don't see them losing their edge because of success...ever!

the person who wrote, performed and recorded it all is called MSW but when he's touring he uses other musicians and together they are called HELL... at least that's how it was explained to me...

It's actually by Gustave Doré (1832-1883). Lots of bands have used his artworks, including Mono, Anaal Nathrakh and, as seen here, Hell. You have to check out the rest of his work, it's really haunting stuff.

MSW always used Doré for the other releases, but this one is actually commissioned from a contemporary artist.

it's probably the label that does that; the video has been blocked for a year. Then I met MSW at a festival; told him about the blocking and send him a mail afterwards with the link. He didn't respond but months later the video was unblocked. Whoever is making money of the adds it's certainly not me! I'd advise an addblocker.

Hell is like an empire of evil. It is good to have information about bad things in order to reject them, but it is never good to get into details or close ups of things that can´t do good to anybody, but the other way around. Let us look for all good things, exalt them, enjoy them, recommend them and understand what we live for!

Cool record but not nearly as crushing as Buried at Sea's "Migration" That one still remains the most brutal sludge/doom record ever. Maybe not as "hellish" but tons more in sheer weight and heaviness

@@Rob.DOOM.Hammer Close but no. There is just less going on. Crispier production but not more heavy to my ears. Its the tone and "rolling thunder" what makes BAS so great. Just playing slow and low tuning doesn't cut it. Just my opinion ofcourse.

HELL is actually a one-man project by a guy who calls himself MSW (or M.S.W) and he sometimes collaborates with other musicians who use names like T.A.S. & A.L.N. When MSW performs on stage he off course needs a band and then he/the band uses the name HELL...
