Yeovil Railway Centre 20th Anniversary, 01/06/2014

- Saturday 31st May and Sunday 1st June saw the Yeovil Railway Centre Celebrate there 20th Anniversary. The Celebrations featured train rides behind Barclay 0-4-0st 'Lord Fisher' and Fowler 0-4-0 Diesel Shunter 'Cockney Rebel', top and tailing, plus at midday surprise guest DCR Class 56 56303!
As well as train rides there was a WW2 display, vintage tractors, bikes and steam lorries. Cab tours of 56303 (when not running) and 50050 'Fearless' where also on offer, plus a Model Railway Exhibition, with a good selection of layouts and trade stands and the Centre's Miniature Railway was also in action (Layouts and Miniature Railway will feature in a separate video). And to top if all off in the afternoon Black 5 44932 arrived hauling 'The Cathedrals Express' (see previous video)!
This was my first visit the the centre and I must say I was not disappointed! Big thanks to all the friend staff and volunteers there! Well worth a visit! Hope you enjoy!
Great work mate! Looks like you had a great day, great to get the cab visits & great catch of the start-up. Great to see all the locos in operation & the little 0-4-0 has on hell of a bark in the last clips! The block on the bike was a bit wobbly to. Great work & thanks for sharing. Cheers, Jack
Thanks Jack! Sure did! Really wanted to get a shot and sound clip of her starting! Was amazing having a cab ride in her too! Yes, see sure does! A small but powerful beast! She got lots of wheel spin, which I seemed to keep missing! LOL! Though he did!

Great set of footage Callum! Those old steam trucks are excellent and loved seeing the.old tractors as well. Liked your close-up shots of the workings and also the diesel innards later on. Those little shunters are so cute completely dwarfed by the coach they're pulling! Looks like you had a nice day :) - Sim

Glad you liked the close ups, very rare around here to be able to get so close to a class 56 (yet alone get a trip in the cab, as seen in my cab ride video)! LOL! Yes, was thinking the same!! But boy are they powerful!

Another excellent video Callum. Don't worry about the burn mate I had much worser burn from a steam loco when I was at the controls of the thing. Many drivers in the course of their career as a fireman or driver will get a burn one way or another. Now it's just a huge scar on my leg, at the time it was a very nasty injury. But it's very hard not be hurt from steam loco hahaha. Can't wait to see the cab ride!!!

Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed it! 'Lord Fisher' sure is a lovely loco! I remember when she was at the East Somerset Railway long side 'Lady Nan' they made an excellent pair! Was very pleased with that shot! She was working really hard during that! What can not be seen though, is that when she passed I got burnt, but a piece of hot coal/ash that was chucked out of the funnel and landed on my arm! LOL!

COLIN IS STILL BETTER!!!!! Anyway, loved seeing the baby fowler diesel. We have the bigger one at Chasewater and its nice seeing one fowler diesel move haha. That 56 started up really well, very little fuss. And great shots of the baby barclay.
LOL! Yes. The Fowler sure is an interesting loco! Was very pleased with the Class 56 fire-up! Was too very surprised how quick it was! Glad you enjoyed it!
