Never see the likes again. How lucky were we to be alive and tuned-in to the times through the last 60 years? All we saw growing up as guys like these stood up for a different way of sharing the world. I think about the wonders that I've lived through and how changed the world at large is since jug-bands switched to psychedelia, when Dylan went electric, how "I want to Hold Your Hand" became "Come Together". I've even seen a clip where Tommy Smothers played an electric. Thank you Dickie, and even if "Mom always liked you best", Tommy and you are loved by millions of who still remember The Smothers. Brothers.
Dickie was the straight man. Tommy was the comedy. And what wonderful great comedy it was. Tommy we won’t see you no more now in this world but we’ll see you in next. And don’t be late.
I remember the show being cut off by the network. Mom's first thought was just that something was wrong ... Dad's (he didn't say then but told me years later) wondered if the nukes had started flying. That was the times.
Yes, that was the times. Drills practicing crawling under your desk "in the event of"... Lying awake at night wondering if this was the night and what I was going to do. The world stopping for JFK's assassination then again for the moon shot and Armstrong taking that one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind. Don't think the world has stopped since then.
I am well aware Steve Martin was a writer for the Smothers Brothers, but does anyone know if he was the banjo player backing them up on their musical segments when needed?
They used their jokes again and again and again, as they should have; but, perhaps, this one could have been vari r if Tom had said, _ I thought you said 'Fake it.' "

When I get sick of reading/watching the news these Smother’s Bros videos renew my joy in life.
Me, too! I love when Tommy gets that look on his face. 😄
If I could live my life over again, I'd still be watching the Smothers Brothers.
I had their albums. They kept me in stitches!
So would I.
Me, too!
Bloody marvelous. Thank heavens you guys can never die on the internet. I will still be laughing until I die. Love you Tom R.I.P.
We miss you, Tom. Rest in Peace. ❤😢
We saw them at Chautauqua Institution in 1962 and 1992. Wonderful, wonderful duo. Loved them!

These two were phenomenal entertainers. I loved their bits!
I'm so glad I found this channel. I was so young then, so it's really cool to be able to appreciate the humor much more now. Two geniuses of comedy.😹
WOW, i could not keep a straight face. LOVE IT. I can remember watching this with my grandparents and loving it then to.
Pure comedy in timing, content, delivery. Brilliant Brothers with so much talent.
Their schtick hardly changed over the decades. It didn't need to; it ALWAYS works!
I live in Peoria!!!

They always make me smile.

I know that Tommy just recently passed away. I wonder if Dick is still with us?
@@rogerbrinker7417He is still with us. He lives in New York and is 85 years old.
Rest in peace Tom smothers
😂😂loved them
Tommy has a Guild D-55. Nice guitar. I wish I had one.
Love you, Tommy. ❤
Those two men made so many people laugh. We will never get those kinds of comedians.
I live in Peoria.I know they are making fun of it but really Peoria is a great town
I am well aware Steve Martin was a writer for the Smothers Brothers, but does anyone know if he was the banjo player backing them up on their musical segments when needed?
No. He wasn't hired as a musician. John Hartford probably did it. Or Glen. At one time there were 4 banjo players on staff.
Dickie was losing it a little bit here ! 😂❤
RIP Tom
I'll have to remember "I was taking a mental nap."
Yes sir. lol
they had me at bacon
They used their jokes again and again and again, as they should have; but, perhaps, this one could have been vari r if Tom had said, _ I thought you said 'Fake it.' "
Its a point of view.... with no target hahahah
Here they're paying homage to Abbott and Costello with Dickie as Lou or was it Bud?
Back when comedy was funny without relying on filth
Filth eliminates the need for relevance.
Nobody wishes they were in Peoria
This is getting a little bit too silly!
Looking at today's political news...this isn't at all silly!!!!!
{pay-orea} NOT {pee-orea}
There is nothing in perioa so he took it over
Excuse me, my mother is in Peoria.
There's a yacht club. I had a good time there.
