Tama's Starclassic Bubinga series now offers extraordinarily beautiful exotic wood finishes, in addition to their regular lacquer choices. African bubinga wood is approximately 53% harder than maple and birch. These 9-ply, 6mm bubinga shells (the bass is 7mm) are made slightly thicker than those of the Starclassic Maple series to provide a more aggressive attack, a fuller deep and dark tone, the low fundamental of bubinga and a fuller powerful resonance.
The Star-Cast Mounting System provides maximum resonance and stability for Tama drums. A streamlined design makes it easier to position toms closer together, while a switch to aluminum provides lighter weight and truer tonal vibration. Hoops affect drum tuning and drum sound, which is why Tama uses zinc die-cast hoops, which are manufactured by injecting molten metal into molds. The rest of the drums are fitted with die-cast hoops for consistent tuning, crisper attack and powerful rim shots.
Starclassic Bubinga's claw hooks offer rubber spacers that protect wood hoops from damage. The hooks and hoops work as one unit and won't separate or rattle, even on loose tunings. Tama's MSB30 die-cast bracket holds the spur bracket securely, thanks to the same powerful hinge mechanism used on the MTB30 mounting bracket. Unique memory markers found on the folding spur bracket help simplify set up. Starclassic's Air Pocket rubber feet feature a special air chamber, that eliminates the transfer of vibrations to the floor and absorbs shock for better playing.
Evans heads are featured on all Starclassic drums (except bass drum front heads). On the rack and floor toms, Genera G2 2-ply clear batter heads and Genera G1 1-ply clear bottom heads provide both durability and solid sound. Starclassic bass drums are fitted with Genera EQ4 clear batter heads.
Matt Garstka:
The voice of a 15 year old
The beard of a 28 year old
The talent of a 46 year old
The glasses of an 82 year old.
rofl nailed it!
Hahaha! I think more like the glasses of a serial killer? 😂😂😂
Serial killers can be 82 years old
But he pulls off the glasses so well
Best comment ever!
I love it how he absolutely KILLED the tone and volume of that amazing drumset, GREAT JOB!
Lol he always does
Just bought a set the other day and they are the best kit I've played. I'm so very happy with everything about them.
I'm gonna get those glasses
Daryl rabara-brokate they give them to you after you graduate from Berklee
My favorite drummer playing on my dream kit!
"all my kits"....
:'(
One of the best right here. And the set is good too
man I could seriously just bump matt improvising on this kit for the rest of my life.
Beautiful kit.
2003Cpayne King Crimson
Bubinga the best bro
Nice profile pic
i see Matt, i like.
Likewise Aizat. Killer player!
Whelan Drums right!! Amazing finesse and dynamics
exactly, insane coordination and improv skills.
So amazing sounding! I wish I had the money... spent my barmitzvah money on new meinl Byzance cymbals
Ugghhh Crimson tiger woods fade. Bury me in roses and popsicle flavored chocolate covered deep-fried sun-dried honey roasted chicken fingers raised in Texas by the Amish.
Except for the fact that you look like history profesor, you're an amazing salesman. And a drummer😂
Drum set goals
It sounds beautiful!!!!
Wou 😳😳😳 beautiful drum
This kit is absolutely amazing. Tama is seriously hands down the best drum company in the world. There is no other sound in the world like tama Bubinga or tama BB. Those two kits have skyrocketed tama past their competitors imo. I have a 2016 tama starclassic BB hyperdrive 5 piece with all these upgraded hardware features Matt went over. Tama managed to lower the price of the starclassic drums especially the BB and brought down these innovative game changing hardware features originally invented for the flagship star drums but it’s amazing the quality and all these innovative features you get for the price. I got my starclassic for 1900 shipped straight from the tama warehouse in the exact finish and sizes I wanted. You can’t beat that. No other company gives you this much and this sound feel looks durability innovation and just amazing build quality for that price. Don’t get me wrong u can get other good kits for 1900 but imo nothing beats a starclassic and all those features you get for that price. Tama all day everyday. Matt is def my favorite drummer right now and love everything he does and his unique style to animals. One thing I didn’t get is why did he say the floor toms are on stands? I think he accidentally got it mixed up and meant that the floor toms are on legs which is a must for him. Floor toms on stands are literally mounted on stands with no legs. Which I totally agree that is a must for me, I hate Floor toms mounted on stands and need legs on my floor toms. Never was a fan of floor Toms without legs mounted on stands wobbling and falling over. And by the way that bell brass snare is my favorite snare of allllll timeeeee. Just wish I had 2,000 bucks to shell out for it. Haha I have the slp black brass and slp dynamic bronze snare which are both amazinggggg. Tama’s SLP Line is just genius and very affordable and have every style of music and sound covered and they continue to add new snares to it each year.
Chris L I usually don't comment on any of this stuff, I've have worked with some of the biggest acts in the country. And very fortunate to do so. No need to bash this guys comment, even though it was a little bit long. But what I usually see, people that do that are usually the ones that can't play, but think they can! They hear themselves as great but in reality are terrible! Tama makes great drums, and I've played everything on the market, at one time or another. They are a lot of great drums on the market, and most high end drums are great! I see a lot of comments on these videos about what should I get? To be honest most would be better off to go to a pawn shop and get whatever. You can spend a grand on pedals or fifty bucks,It's not going to make you any better or faster. Your just going to have less cash in your pocket! No need to leave negative comment!
Chris L ur mama sucks
Andy Ham lol tama has to stop using/selling bubinga by 2019. There goes your sound.
I miss hearing toms that ring out with no muffling. These just sound like thud thud thud. I understand that's what the music calls for, but I wish more players sounded like jazz players do.
I believe that the kit should be tuned higher to have that warm, rich tone of a bubinga wood.I also have a 7 pcs bubinga kit and it is insane. The sound of the kit is just impressive 🔥
HI, I managed to get one of the last of these kits too, I am very interested in your comment about tuning higher, mine is showroom tuned and sounds pretty good to me, however i am always open to learning/knowing more. can you briefly explain your comment? Thanks, off for more youtube research to see if anyone else agrees with you.
@@reelmrj Watch one of my videos from my channel and see how my kit sounds,I don T say that Matt's kit sound bad,It s all about the taste..
With Tama newest drum kit you get eye protect glasses if you play like Matt.
man drums pff.. glasses thats the musthave!
With coated heads and moongel, it would be nice to hear what these drums actually sound like.
Superb sounding drums, really tight playing.. and I like your glasses as well 😄
I can't handle this guy's voice.
Don’t handle it then
Beautiful
A couple of solid grooves with simple tom fills, as in a soundcheck situation, would serve as a better demonstration of how this kit actually sounds, instead of a drum solo in the background. Just a recommendation as a loyal customer.
With all due respect, If I wanted to hear Matt Garstka's godly chops, licks, grooves and fills, I would click on a ton of other videos already featuring that - Yes, I know who he is. I thought this video was about demonstrating a Tama Starclassic Bubinga Exotix Drum Kit's SOUND, but found the FORMAT distracting. I made a suggestion on THAT topic, and can't figure out why you felt like I was putting down or criticizing your favorite drummer.
"...rubber things in there" lol
I makes a huge different when it is miked up in a live performance. Makes it sound nice and soft with a punch
Matt is clearly a specs expert
This was my most recent Starclassic Bubinga kit. Picked it up about a week ago, never used. Guitar Center is pissing me off. On the site, it will let your order em, but their running a bait, and switch. They are out of new ones, they have been discontinued! They won't be getting anymore new ones. Anyway, amazing kits. Get em if you can find em, as they're already collectors items.
I bought this exact kit with Matt Gartska’s signature from Guitar Center Hollywood exactly 12 months ago at a nice discount. Bubinga is now hard to find, endangered. Amazing kit, fat tone, great isolation hardware. Replaced an 80’s Rosewood Gretsch kit. No shit! Fuckin love it
Matt - looking very Walter Sobchak-esque there dude :D
Gotta love Matt. Incredible drummer, not the best wordsmith.
I.e. Says "Boobinga" &
"Red to brown, cuz all my kits are natural finish" &
"Toms have rubber things inside" & "My floor toms gotta have legs, just a good feature"
Sales guys at Tama 😰
Matt mention
Rubber gaskets, Tabacco fade, and light weight air suspension floor tom legs." Got it, ya go it." 👍Ok he's good to go. And " Action "
I'm under no illusion that I'm in no way close to the caliber of drummer he is. Just having some fun. Much respect and admiration Matt, keep killing it 🥁🤘
I'd like to see you do this mister wordsmith. It's about the MUSIC, not the salespitch skills..
He said his floor toms were on stands though lol
Tama+ meinl for life
Sure wish I could have heard the toms.
5th BABY!! 😁👌👍🤘🤙
My wet dream of a kit
Ayyyyee🔥🔥
Nice
Great sound!
Stunning kit, but now discontinued unfortunately......
Seems like a sick set of drums, but I wouldn't be surprised if those cymbals were more expensive than the kit all combined lol
Not at all. A 6 piece bubinga kit will run you about 3500 to 4000 easy. Especially now that they are D/Ced. The cymbals on the high end might be around 1750 brand new
I’m in Viet Nam. I wanna buy Full set Tama drum, made in Japan (include shipping fee). How much is it? Thank ❤️❤️❤️
I would like to actually hear more of the Tom's. I know what a snare sounds like. The finish is beautiful. Talk less, play more.
Yes he could’ve played a tad more toms but otherwise it was the perfect balance of talk and play, nigga.

I see Tosin has been getting Matt onto the hipster/Jeffrey Dahmer glasses. I guess in a way Matt's kinda like the Jeffrey Dahmer of drum kits... Dude's a killer.
The bassdrum has no low end and the toms too less resonance but still the kit sounds nice
Just how he tunes. Honestly hate his drum sound but he’s an insane player.
Daddy Gartska
Those drums suck, said no one in the comment section.
Would have been useful to hear the toms a bit more....
Beautiful kit, but that snare sounds like roadkill to me.
First baby!
What are the tom sizes
Probably standard 8x10, 9x12, 12x14, 14x16, 18x22 kick. I know you can order different sizes depending on what you want.
So much better than DW. He’s just chasing that DW pretentious endorsement now lol
Being colorblind is not fun. I don't see any fade in the color.
So you can't see how ugly the eagles uniforms are
Get that moongel off those tom toms!
I didn't know Jim Cornette played the drums.
He is an extremely talented drummer, and in my opinion made the mistake of leaving Tama for DW.
I thought so too at first.
I respect his choice and at least Tama players got a great feel for how great their drums can sound when drummers dedicate to that expert level performance in practice.
I switched from Dw to Tama 2 years ago.
Everyone has their preferences.
Dw definitely has a great drummer to promote their drums.
If anything, I think his choice gives room for dedicated Tama players to progress authentically.
Ted bundy on drums
Shame he makes his drums sound so dead and muffled. When you make drums so dead it doesn't make a difference if you play a 200$ kit or a 3000$ kit.
It makes a different when it is live and miked up
True
Sorry but Yamaha live custom hybrid oak is much better and cheaper😊
Not the best demo. Half the video is hi-hat/ride and snare grooves with the snare not being part of this range of drums. Drums are lowered while Matt is describing the kit. Should be single hits of the toms where they are let ring out.
Great drummer.
Pathetic outfit.
