    I know this is an old video but you have NO idea how many rabbits I've lost to scaley ear mites and I've scoured the internet for help and this is the only video I've found with this much information.
    Thank you so much! I got one little girl left with damn near no weight left on her so it's either this works or I put her down. Fingers crossed.
    On another note all these peabrains using this dewormer to treat their covid have made it astronomically harder for me to get my hands on livestock dewormer.
    Edit:
    I just thought I'd edit this, it worked! She was on deaths door but pulled through! Thank y'all so much! Sweetpea is still very bald but on her way to recovery, all the mites were dead in 3 days.

      So your rabbit is more important than humans? If the medical establishment you love so much would have allowed Dr's to prescribed it, most people would have done that, and THOUSANDS would have been kept out of the hospitals that killed them.

    • @WolfTwisted
      @WolfTwisted Місяць тому

      @@Freedom-nu5kp You're fighting the wrong fight here. I never said my rabbit was more important. There is zero clinical evidence to support that a dewormer designed to kill parasites (a living organism) was effective against a virus (a non living organism). I never said I love the medical establishments, I'm disgusted by the situation in the US medical system and the gross handling of misinformation and spreading of harmful information via Facebook and so on. But if you wanna waste your energy arguing through a UA-cam comment be my guest. I have better ways to spend my day.

      Virgin Olive oil works like magic, apply with a toothbrush on and near the face and use your hands to apply on the ears, you can wear a surgical glove. The scales fall off and it is non toxic to them. Let me know.

    Thanks so much. I bought a rex with ear mites. Off to find a syringe for her.
    I will probably dose all three and myself for the itches.
    It's good for us to remove parasites too.
    Thanks for the thoughts on the pastes.
    BTW, my uncle is a vet and says to steer clear of any of the pour ons for anything other than what its labeled for (cattle/swine, etc).

    By any chance could you tell me how much panacur hirse paste to use for full size californian doe with tilted head? Want to try to help her before bonking her. Have you ever had a rabbit that got that? Is it uncommon or seen more often nowadays? Ive never heard of it before.

    • @SpragueRiverHomestead
      @SpragueRiverHomestead  3 місяці тому +1

      No, I can't give a dosage for panacur. Paste wormers are not safe for any animal under 100 lbs.
      For wry neck, you need to be treating with liquid Safeguard for goats. Follow dosage info on the bottle. Its the most effective for wry neck. You need to treat every 3rd day for 2 weeks. Often it doesn't reverse, only halt the damage. Depends on how far along they are.
      The condition isn't uncommon. I get contacted for help pretty regularly.

    I’m new here and a little confused so with the injectable IVERMECTIN you do t actually inject it into the rabbit but put it on their skin or in their ear for mites? I just have Noromectin 1%

    • @SpragueRiverHomestead
      @SpragueRiverHomestead  4 місяці тому

      Correct. Injectible can be used topically without issue. Never inject a rabbit with anything unless you have no other choice (such as when using antibiotics). Rabbits are prone to encapsulating foreign materials and turning them into abscesses.

      You'll want to get a dosage recommendation straight from a vet, based on what you are treating for. Cats are sensitive to ivermectin overdose, and can come down with toxicosis, which can cause permanent blindness, coma or even death.

    I have a lion head bunny that just got a head tilt as well. She went to the vet and they cant even tell us what it is. I gave her ivermectin and she seemed to be doing better once we put it in... Now this morning shes back to losing her blalance and her heads still sideways. What do i do next? Should i keep trying after 7 to 10 days? Or get something else?

    • @SpragueRiverHomestead

      Ivermectrin will only help if its ear mites. If its wry neck, e cuniculi, you use Fendbendazole. Hit google for dosage and treatment. I've only had it pop up a couple of times in old rabbits and chose to cull rather than treat.

    This was a helpful video, thanks. I've just been trying to figure out dosage for this drug. My question: Injectable ivermectin is a 1% solution. Pour-on ivermectin is 5 mg per ml, straight from the container. I do not know enough chemistry to know if the contents of the two types are identical. You seem to say that they are used just the same, that the dosage is the same straight from the container. Did I understand that right? And again, thanks for the video!

    • @SpragueRiverHomestead
      @SpragueRiverHomestead  Рік тому

      According to the dosage chart I was given, the dosage is the same for both injectible and pour on. Quickly doing the math, they should be very, very close to the same.

    • @davidquarles5965
      @davidquarles5965 Рік тому +1

      @@SpragueRiverHomestead I got some help with the math here. So, the injectable 1% solution would be the same as saying 10 mg / ml. And the pour-on is 5 mg / ml. So using these materials straight from the bottle would mean that using pour-on would be 1/2 the strength of using injectable. Does this statement seem correct to you?

    • @carriethang7463
      @carriethang7463 Рік тому

      @@davidquarles5965 I know for the pour on it says 1ml for 22 pounds and when 1 ml is divided by 22 that gets .045 ml. So I think that means .04 ml per pound would be the correct dosage. Is that what you got?

    • @carolphung2590
      @carolphung2590 10 місяців тому +1

      The dosage is 0.2 - 0.4 mg/kg, first you have to convert lbs to kg, then multiply dose at 0.2 mg/kg then divided by the concentration of the drug to figure out the ML (5mg/ml (Ivermectin pour on) or 10 mg/ml (Ivermectin injectable). If using the Ivermectin Injectable it would be half the dose of the Ivermectin pour on. They do not have the same concentration. Hope this help.

    Can this formula be used for kits? Also, does topical application also work for pinworms found in feces or should it be used orally?

    • @SpragueRiverHomestead
      @SpragueRiverHomestead  Рік тому +1

      Topical application is fine for treating pinworms. It gets into the bloodstream through skin absorption.
      It is not recommended in kits. Its pretty rare to see kits show up with a parasite load though. Remember, don't treat if there's no problem. If they are showinf pinworms, the Goat oral fenbendezole (safeguard) is effective and more gentle for immature GI tracts.

      She'd get pretty close to 0.1cc. I'd give it topically directly into the ear. If mites are in both you can divide it between the 2, but 0.1 isnt much.
