    Chocolate Cake Recipe:
    Combine all dry ingredients and mix well:
    3 cups flour
    2/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
    2 tsp baking soda
    2 cups sugar
    1 tsp salt
    Divide into four equal bags. Each bag should weigh approximately 7 1/2 ounces.
    To each bag of dry ingredients you will need:
    1/2 cup water
    2 Tablespoons of corn oil
    3/4 teaspoon of vanilla
    1 1/2 teaspoons of distilled white vinegar
    Pour into prepared insert pan, cover, cook on high for 30 minutes in instant pot or pressure cooker. Release pressure and enjoy.
    If you are making it conventionally, the full liquid ingredients are: 2 cups water, 1/2 cup + 2 Tablespoons of oil, 1 Tablespoon of vanilla and 2 Tablespoons of white vinegar. Pour into 2 greased 9" cake pans or a 9x13x2 inch pan. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes.

    Thanks for the recipes. I just recently purchased my instant pot and I have made the pasta and the eggs. I am making the cake now. I can’t wait. Here’s tip on conserving water. We are tent campers, we mix a little dish soap in spray bottle an spray our dishes with the soapy water then wipe them with the cloth. It takes very little hot water to rinse them.

    Definitely getting an Instant pot after seeing this! My Mum had a pressure cooker when I was little and used to do stews and steamed puddings, but this looks so quick and easy to use. I think it will spend quite a bit of it time in my kitchen as well as some in the van. Thanks and a belated Happy Birthday!🎂🍾🎉

    Happy Belated Birthday! 65? Cannot be true! You guys are too cute! But, ah, Cafe Beaujolais. Had their Chocolate Decadence Cake many, many years ago and remember it well! Bought the cookbook back then and sorry to say I never have cooked many recipes it. After watching your video I found it in the way back, it's.called AMAZON Chocolate Cake. Don't know if it's the same as the one we had but it looks great. Kudos to you for adapting it to the RV life.

    Thank you for all your efforts to share your perspective and experience.
    I am looking forward to hearing about your thoughts on cooking meals. In terms of meal prep, I have some questions. Do you concern yourself with meals smelling up the van? Are there any foods you do not cook because of this? How do you get around this? (I am really thinking of fish as well as some other smelly foods). We generally make all of our meals at home. We avoid gluten and dairy, so eating out can be challenging. We also eat lots of vegetables which take up a lot of refrigerator space. I am also used to cooking with a lot of ingredients. We are looking forward to hearing what kind of meals you make on a regular basis. I am curious what your “top 5” go to, easy, tasty recipes are since you appear to be quite health conscious. For lunches, sandwiches seem like the easiest thing to do, but that gets old and is a lot of bread on a regular basis. Thank you!

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  5 років тому +1

      Fortunately, I don't have to avoid gluten. I could live on bread alone. I do some meal prep before we leave and portion things into bags. My favorite meals are things like veggie tacos (I use the morning star crumbles), soup (which I will either make or there is one lentil soup we like from a can--I always add a can of beans and spinach). My favorite breakfast is the instant pot french toast or oatmeal with peanut butter powder and granola. We often have egg sandwiches with avocado (I have a beautiful avocado tree). We like some of the packaged meals like Tasty Bite Indian Madras Lentils and I will throw in a bag of packaged rice from Trader Joe's or the one's you get at the grocery store that are ready to heat and serve. John loves a Broccoli slaw salad that I make that I think I showed on another video. It has lots of nuts, dried fruit, onion crisps, beans, cheese. We always have lots of apples around and I will usually slice up some smoked cheddar or pepper jack to eat with it. We have very simple tastes and almost never eat out. Now that you have gotten my mind going on the subject, I think I shall do a video in the next few months. Thanks.

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  5 років тому

      I just realized I forgot to answer your smell question. No, there is nothing that we eat that I would avoid cooking in the van (we don't eat fish). That said, every time I make hash browns or toast, the smoke alarm goes off. So I try to remember to open a window and turn on the fan. It is so sensitive.

      Thanks. We have one "large" cabinet under the sink. The IP (with the original styrofoam packaging) goes at the bottom and then stacked on top is anything else that will fit. The styrofoam gives the pot a nice flat surface on which to rest the other items. I think I use it enough to justify the additional space it takes up.

      @@FromShetoMe Good Deal ! I was afraid you were having refrigeration issues again. I still want a PW and I am keeping a close eye on your challenges and factory responses. As I am not a current PW owner I can't see the articles by others, good or bad, that would be extremely helpful in my decision process. I think PW keeping that closed to owners prevents sales. There are all kind of videos by owners of other makes of Class B's..but none of PW..EXCEPT YOU !!! Thank you for sharing !

      @@thoughtsinpassing2968 I occasionally check out the PW owner's group and don't really see any complaints. Everything is working well now (except the one blind on the sliding door). Our dealer has ordered the magnets so he can switch out the velcro on all our blinds. I don't know if you follow Technomadia but they are thinking of buying a PW (but probably used). PW has made a number of changes that I mentioned in last year's video about things I would like to see changed including the sink faucet and the table. And then I just read the Wendland's newsletter about Roadtrek so I'm feeling pretty good about our PW. In 2 weeks we will be driving to San Diego for the new suspension package and new tires. A video will follow on after that. Hope you find what you are looking for.

    I always keep some of your chocolate cake mix in storage bags ready to use in my Instant Pot when we were on the road in our travel van. Any chance you might have some more easy dessert recipes for Instant Pot to share with us soon? Also, I would be interested to know which you prefer for making desserts: Instant Pot or Omni Oven.

    Ah THESE are the types of videos I love! For the cake...I have a 6 qt IP. If I just double the quantities will that work or even if I halve the amount you have to come up with just 2 bags of premix would that work? Thank you for this content! See you on the road!

      Well you could easily use both of the inner pots instead of the single one I used for the eggs. But for things like the cake, you don't want to fill the pan too much or it won't cook in the middle. But for everything else you can fill it to full.

      Bolsa Chica State Beach. We have a yearly State Park pass. There is a senior pass that is $20 but it does exclude the summer but a great bargain. Otherwise, the pass is $195. The strange thing about it though is it doesn't include all of California's parks.

    I know this is an old vid to be commenting on... but 65?! NFW! Holy shit, and you film this in highdef!! Anyway, I'm an Insty cook as well and you had me until instant oatmeal. Nooooooo! You've got the BEST invention ever for steel cut oatmeal!! Even better in an RV... Using oat groats for savory and sweet dishes (like his maple flavored oats- I add banana slices, cinnamon, and walnuts at the end). Yes, I would too (eat chocolate cake for dinner).

    • @FromShetoMe

      😅I don’t usually have instant. My preferred method of making is in my wide mouth thermos. For oat groats I let it sit overnight and regular extra thick oatmeal I let it sit a couple of hours. I like it with peanut butter powder.

    Damn, those recipes look great. Barb and I have been watching all of your videos and shopping for gear as we eagerly wait for the delivery of our PW Plateau. Just last night we looked at an Instant Pot but decided against it for some reason. After watching this video I think we might be changing our mind and going back for it. We did however pick up a very compact coffee machine and portable induction cooktop.
    P.S. I'm totally with John on trading in the pasta for an extra serving of whipped cream on the chocolate cake.

      Most of the draw is while it is reaching pressure initially. I've not had more than a 10% drawdown. And if you are concerned, you can use the generator while it is coming up to pressure. After making the last two recipes in succession, we were at 90%. And the cake was in for 30 minutes. Hope that helps.

    For your pasta do you prefer to use a sturdier whole wheat pasta shape? I tried to make it tonite with same measurements but a whole wheat fusili and added some vegis also and cooked for 8 minutes but it kinda got mushy? What did I do wrong? I have the big 8 qt one. Thanks

    • @FromShetoMe
      @FromShetoMe  3 роки тому

      I don't use the whole wheat pastas. Shorten your cook time by half or more. A lot depends on whether you do quick release or let it reduce pressure naturally. If it is underdone, just put it back for another minute.
