4:08 you have to also factor in while Shoji faced more abuse, his quirk can still be considered useful. Spinner's quirk Gecko basically just makes him a lizard man who can stick to walls, so he basically had to face both discrimination for his appearance AND having a useless quirk on top of that, which likely destroyed any self confidence he might've had in himself.

I liked how Shoji was optimistic but also realistic at the same time.
Spinner's transformation into the scales giant dinosaur looking monster had a very sick design.
also the fact that he was going berserk shows that people cannot have multiple quirks,their minds collapse.
Yeah i feel like even in Nagat’s case she would’ve eventually been unable to hold the quirks.

All for One and Tomura: 'laughs in more than One Quirk'
And their vestige within their original quirk inside their bodies is still awake and aware of all of it, I cant imagine a worse kind of hell, an immortal life as a mindless nomu prison that goes deeper than thought. The only worse hell is what the vestiges within All For One are trapped in with no end.
I would argue that Shoji's backstory was put in at the right time. Where Kirishima's life was shown when he was having doubts about his powers, the lesson behind that is any ability, no matter how small, can save the day. For Shoji, this whole time we have been getting used to the guy. He has a weird body, we never saw his face, that's all true, but at the end of the day we saw Shoji as Shoji. Not a freak, not a heteromorph, not even Tentacole. But for the guy he actually is.

Shoji's backstop is great but to me I wanted more of acknowledgement that hero society ignores this aspect of life even if indirectly. I want to know what All Might thinks of heteropmorphism and how Deku reacts to it as well. Do Heteromorphs end up in low income areas because of racism a long time ago and now they because of generational issues they just make up low income communities.
Horokoshi could have done SOOOOO much more with this, but I think his lack of deep understanding of western politics stops him.
4:50-6:02 the friends of Shoji is revealed while telling his story about his past: Midoriya, Tokoyami, Kaminari, Kirishima, Koda, Mineta, Ojiro, Jiro, Uraraka, Mina, Tsu and Yaoyorozu missing is Shoto and Hagakure
This chapter was great you can see how much Shoji has suffered due to how much discrimination he suffered in his hometown. But instead of being angry and or becoming a villain he decided to make a difference in becoming a hero and show people that mutants aren’t that much different from regular people and he wants to use his powers to help people.
Also for Spinner it’s sad that he just a pawn in AFO schemes and he slowly becoming a brainless brute it’s showing that his body can’t handle multiple quirks. I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen between him and Shoji and also it’s also great to see Koda coming into the clutch
I had been thinking he was more Machia- like rather than a nomu but thinking deeper, Machia is kind of a proto-Nomu in a way so they kinda can be grouped together.
Machia himself is very unique as despite having like seven different quirks he can still think for the most part coherently, he can speak properly and seems to have solid control over himself. I think it's more they got the idea for the Nomu from Machia to try and make more like him, but since most people lack his seemingly limitless willpower and might they couldn't handle it.
Spinner seems to be a lot like Machia in that he has a great deal of passion and willpower, frankly it'd be cool if he turns out to be Machia 2.0 managing to regain control of himself and use all those extra quirks to their full effect.
Another similarity to them is loyalty. Machia literally would not move if it isn’t for his master. He could have originally been AFO’s “spinner” type friend and he lost most of his mind but he never forgot his friend.
Kinda surprised how I turned out into liking these 2 character Shoji and Spinner. Genuinely feel sad for spinner here, and Shoji is truly amazing person. Love his dialogue, "That's just who I am", the mindset which can be applied to rl too
I suppose that if they ''rescue'' shigaraki, which is not an idea im really a fan of, they would need spinner to talk with him maybe, like it was kirishima who could rescue bakugo, and iida for deku later. i cant think of deku convincing him by himself with words without it seeing a bit forced since theyre not exactly friends. if shoji can remove spinner from the mindless state, this battle and shoji will have even more signficance to the plot. (too bad the anime kinda cut the scenes with spinner and shigaraki being friends) Idk how the aoyama and fatgum battle will be relevant to the plot but I'm looking forward to it.
This chapter was so so good it actually made me shed a tear. I am happy to have read this but I think Horikoshi could have written a whole arc out of the mutant discrimination thing !
ya all of this is really rushed which does a disservice to the actual conversation of racism imbeded into aspects of society
@@therestinghornet6906 he still might do it, maybe backstory over a few chapters while our hero beats the villain/ or until spinner overcomes the hardship of having multiple quirks and leads the army of heteromorphs towards a better cause. Although having a small arc for this backstory sounds great if down earlier in the series, hopefully we get a little more of it in the next chapters. Also, Hirokoshi has shown through the MVA and vigilantes mangas that he is willing to go through other story arcs in depth when he finds it important.

While it never had its own arc, it’s always been there, just subtle

. The Anti Mutant cult in My Villain Academia
. Chimera in the second Movie
And even tho its full exploration is late, I’d take late over never, besides it’s not like this is the first time an author gave a side character a background in the final arc.

I have tears in my eyes while reading this Chapter. Shoji just became the best character by accepting who he is and what he is. It's doesn't matter what you are, it's who you are as a person, and he is happy. He have a tragic life, but he manage to survive, and he will be a hero who can give good memories for the next generation. I love this man, show him lots of love for Tentacole.
Remember when shiggy got mad when they said he has no friends. I think spinner will show up there and shiggy see him all cracked out or something sad happens to him and shiggy realized he does have a friend. So I think maybe he can break away from AFO to help his friend
Really wished that mutant discrimination had a LOT more focus earlier on especially for the both of them to get me more invested in them now but dumping most of that at the tail end of the series feels very last minute and just not all that anymore

Definitely wasn’t expecting Shoji to become one of my new favorite heroes but I’ll take it. I wish we would’ve gotten his backstory a little earlier in the story though.
Also I can’t wait to see who else will awaken their quirk. I love the idea and hope to see it with more characters.
First there’s a backstory from Midoriya, Bakugo, Todoroki, Uraraka, Iida, Aoyama, Jiro, Kirishima, Mina and now there’s Shoji but there’s Yaoyorozu but it’s on manga only anime didn’t adapt showing her as a child making dolls and now we need Tokoyami, Tsuyu, Sero, Ojiro, Sato, Koda, Mineta and Hagakure’s backstory

It is weird how this chapter is slowly making shoji, spinner, and koda kinda interesting and cool cuz the shoji backstory was sad

shoji has over the last couple of chapters become one of my favourite characters, god like his mask, him not talking as much is all down to opression and predjudice, and damn does horikoshi know how to write a sad and something so real, it just adds so much layer to a already torn society of heroes vs villians you completely forget that yeah if quirks where real you would have those who would treat people who look different as beneath them, this manga just keeps getting to real sometimes.
I'm just happy Koda finally got his really cool moment, even though it was birds as usual. I wonder if that growth on his head works as a brainwave amplifier and enables him to call on animals without words. I think Shoji's punch is him just focusing all his dupli-arms/extensions into one singular punch and I think it's going to be awesome.
And I think Horikoshi was going to do backstories at a even pace at one point but since we've been rushing to the end since a while back I think he's literally going to just throw all the things he'd want shown and whatnot in before the very end. It honestly reminds me a bit of the latter half of season 1 of SAO in some ways.
Wonder if anyone noticed Spinner's design kinda resembles Kisame from naruto. I'm fully aware Spinner is a stain cosplayer but Spinner's hair style and his sword with multiple blades bandaged together looks similar to Kisame and his sword Samehada. Also how they're both falsely blinded & following their "leader". Spinner follows Shigaraki while being manipulated by AFO & "befriending" him while Kisame follows the fourth mizukage while being manipulated by obito & later " befriends" him
Who else is wanting for to see a Technopath Technology Quirk, a Diamond Skin Quirk, Dark Manipulation Quirk, Light Manipulation Quirk, Time Manipulation Quirk, Age Manipulation Quirk, Animal Shape Shifting Quirk, and also possibly a Magic or Magical Manipulation Quirk for My Hero Academia Manga Series Quirks we've never seen yet before in the My Hero Academia Manga Series!
The sad emotional line from Spinner means so much even tho it's so simple. "You're gross". Wow. Shows complete abandonment for his cause and mindlessness. Makes me wonder if it's AFO speaking truly
For me it was the "no idea" that showed that Spinner really is gone.
He doesn't remember what he's fighting for anymore.
Spinner remembers his orders to free kurogiri. This army and fake cause was put together by AFO. I don’t think he ever cared about getting revenge for being a mutant he was a stain fanboy then a shigaraki fanboy.
I'm gonna say this, I think Horikoshi will do a good job of the finale, but having big info dumps and backstories play through tense battles of life and death kinda breaks the immersion of said fights. Having it here and there is fine, I'd argue most shounen manga do this kind of thing, as death flags or to just bring more emotion to a particular moment, but too much of it can ruin the pacing.
I’m curious to see how the anime will adapt it. Will they add anime exclusive content to expand upon it?

i think it makes sense in this fight. one heteromorph fighting to prevent complete destruction by an army of heteromorphs, and the parallels of Shojis own hometown work in juxtaposition with the chaos here.

I didn't provide much context with my comment outside of this video, but I mainly meant in the grand scheme of the MHA finale arc, we have just seen tons of backstory. When a backstory comes up just make someone care about the character instead of having them be liked organically throughout the story.
It feels almost like being force fed a particular emotion.
Kodas anivoice awakening and registering humans as animals would be baller. Becoming an enhanced version of shinzos mind control quirk that works on all living creatures.

Koda would basically become Makima
That wouldn't really work on Spinner's kind of Quirk User cause they're Halflings essentially, Koda should be able to at least partially effect Spinner now that I think about it.
In any case. Kodas awakening would be that his quirk works on anybody with an animal based quirk like Froppy, Selkie, Hound Dog and Gang orca.
That would make more sense.

Lady Nagant has 3 Quirks, that being Rifle, her original Quirk, Air Walk, which AFO gave her as payment to go after Deku, and the unnamed self-destruct Quirk that AFO also gave her in the scenario that she'll change her mind about Deku, which he ended up going off in the end and leaving her severely burned.
I feel like the general strength of multiple Quirks dictates the level of mental strain that they can cause on a person. Nagant appeared completely fine, as Air Walk was really only just a form of levitation that would be only really beneficial for Nagant to gain vantage points up in the air, and the self-destruct Quirk could seemingly be only activated by a third party outside of her control, on top of the fact that despite the size of the explosion, it wasn't 100% fatal.
Spinner, on the other hand, was given two extra Quirks that are significantly powerful in nature, and is immediately succumbing to insanity because of this.
Hang on Gigantomachi has multiple quirks and he can still think. I believe that Spinner is basically showing what might be an incompatibility issue with the quirks he was given
He doesn't really think that much. He only takes action if his boss tells him to if not he stays dormant

I can't believe it took until now for me to realize that Spinner and Shigaraki are the same age.
Its at this point the tragedy of the nomus finally sinks in, as well as just how evil All For One truly is. We're watching Spinner's mind degrade in real time, first he has the will to call out All For One as not being his friend Shigaraki, then Spinner spearheads a movement he was told is an empty one. Spinner doesnt even believe in it, but his will eroded that he doesn't question his obedience, fully aware of the fog in his mind until there is no will nor thought, just a living corpse exactly like a nomu. Every nomu we see in MHA likely went through a similar process. All For One gave them a fate worse than death. Worst part is I bet all the nomu are like Kurogiri where the person they used to be is imprisoned within their own body as a vestige unable to do anything but watch in horror as their bodies move against their will. Probably bound by vestige hands of All For One within the quirks he gave them.
A hellish prison within themselves, and no one is even aware they're still conscious in the undying Nomus. All For One is no doubt very VERY aware of this, highlighting just how evil he is. To think this was the same fate he had in store for his little brother too. When he gives a quirk, he erodes free will on a subtle level, till they end up like Spinner. Poor bastard is crying out for death inside his own mind while his body moves on its own. Oh yeah, every quirk All For One has within him, their vestiges are also still conscious inside him. Ragdoll for example is probably haunted by nightmares of unexplainable despair and pain from her vestige inside All For One. Its a deeper level than simply mind control. All For One really is a devil.
By the way, Deku's One For All's quirk arsenal probably wont end with simply Gearshift, he'll probably be able use a mega evolved version of Quirk Transference too. Example being he releases Smokescreen, and all whom he chooses to buff with a fragment of Transference will get a fraction of One For All's stockpiled power just by breathing in Smokescreen. I also believe Transference is how Deku will free Shigaraki, by giving One For All to Tenko Shimura, where all 9 vestiges of One For All will overpower the All For One quirk from the inside out.
Afo, being who he is, is probably planning to make spinner his new machia. Since shigi is the new vessel it makes sense to create a new body guard from some one who is willing to sacrifice themselves for him
spinner hurts me by looking looking like that, although his is a villain, he's not evil like all for one.
Is it possible that AFO just forcefully awakened Spinners already existing quirk? That's probably not the case, but I just think it's interesting that AFO gave him a quirk that has scales in the name, when Spinner's whole gimmick is that he's a scaly lizard. I just think Scale Armour being an awakening of Spinner's quirk would make a lot of sense.
We've seen other recipients of new quirks from AFO handle them pretty well before (Lady Nagant for example), but Spinner is hardly able to formulate sentences. Even Gigantomachia was capable of more coherent thoughts than Spinner currently is. On the other hand, one awakening their quirk has been shown to cause a lot of backlash, usually on the user's body. Maybe AFO forcefully awakening Spinner's quirk had the side effect of causing immense mental strain rather than physical.

My problem with the Kirishima comparison is kirishima got that development in a moment that was relevant to his complexes, cowardice and situation. There isnt a single situation at that point in the story that would even rationalize the Shoji flashback happening then. Character flashbacks in MHA fights happen often, I could agree the heteromorph discrimination could be even more focused on than it already is throughout the story.
But overall these past few chapters have been good and the impact still hits for me. Spinner being an unfortunate pawn, a radicalized group of marginalized people dancing in the palm of AFOs hands, and Shoji who didn't let his traumatic past negatively shape his future. I'd care less for thsi fight if it didnt have a direct impact on the main plot, freeing Kurogiri which will likely flip the tables of the main Deku and AFO battle. It has the pro of giving us more side character content and advancing the plot, which is great in my book.
It's definitely looking like infinity war ending with both side suffering heavy losses. Question is will this lead to a follow up or is it tge true finale ?
Deku was literally being shown as discriminated against for having no quirk, which introduced to us the idea of classism/discrimination based on quirks, that was fleshed out for its entire plot-value(how AFO manipulated Aoyama's family out of fear that the heir is quirkless etc). Now the heteromorphs are being shown in the same limelight adding on to what was previously revealed about quirk society's classism. this is good writing if everything was written out all at once it would've felt like the author's running out of plot lines
@@tshepisomotsoko9536 I didnt even mention quikrless discrimination I'm just focusing on heteromorphs, but yeah you are right. That's another facet of an unequal society driller into is from thr start from the minority of the population. The heteromorph discrimination is there but nowhere near as prevalent, but I felt like its been in our minds long enough to still stick the landing.
We get Spinners backstory ages ago that put the more extreme bigotry towards heteromorphs in our heads, then the CRC being defeated by the League, hell even Endeavor arrested a member of the CRC. Post PLW we see once society collapsed the once "safe" cities became just as dangerous to heteromorphs thanks to radicalized citizens who clearly had hidden prejudices against anyone that looks different. I think what we got was enough, because laying it on thick throughout the entire story doesn't make it any better imo, it just takes time away from other subplots that are also important.
@@TheCreed1217 yes I'm talking about quirk discrimination just to show how the heteromorph idea was not 'asspull' as most keep regurgitating. It's actually their fault for not thinking about how the quirk situation affects 'the weird people' (as I use to think of them in the beginning) and not following the hints you mentioned. You've made good points which complement what I said;' for me the recent chapter felt like it added that nice shock-factor, it's only when the pawpaw hits the fan (society collapsing) that even people not in the outskirts have a voice for their pent-up frustration which they wouldn't have otherwise expressed to not stand out as an individual especially when you are in a society that claims to treat you equal you don't wan't to be "that guy" and in real life that would be the case.
So I feel like the best route for this part of the story is Kurogiri gets released and goes to help Shigaraki/AFO. When he arrives Deku has started slowing down because of the side effects of the 2nds quirk. This allows Shigaraki to to go after Aizawa, Monoma, and Manuel who he needs to get rid of to use his quirk to steal One for All. Kurogiri then warps those three away saving them. Then it’s those three vs Kurogiri in a different place and Aizawa uses his quirk probably the last time and kills Kurogiri but thanks him for saving their life because for a moment before he warped them away he felt Shirkumo not Kurogiri. This also works to get rid of erasure and Shigaraki can now go all out.
If Shigaraki does steals One For All will he also kill Deku by using decay quirk and if that happens then All Might will make announcement about Deku and Class 1-A will react horror about Deku’s in danger and they all have to run towards to save him and they will have Pro Heroes to aid them
@@Rjay0922 I think more in a sense AFO when taking is more about willpower and well First had more willpower because even though he was frail and sick most of his life he still fought against AFO. And let’s not forget that in the end good always triumphs over evil.
Machia has like 6 quirks, and he`s not exactly a Nomu. I think AFO turned Spinner into a "second Machia", that's the best comparison I can come up with
Machia was a One in a Million, I don’t know if Spinner can do what he did.
Machia technically is the first Nomu. He's basically the first prototype before the real Nomus were made.

i think the idea is that quirks need to be compatible with one another in order to mix them in a regular non modified body

@@cannabishornliu6119 i also believe that quirks like machias that severely physically enhance the user are the ones more capable of retaining quirks or in this case giving a quirk like gigantism would enhance the body enough to hold more
Im glad that they are giving the supporting characters more love rather than only shining the spotlight on the main villains and our favorite main trio.
Now we know what happened to Gigantomachia. He must have been a follower/bodyguard of AFO that was given too many quirks and became a slave beast.

Spinner doesn’t deserve this. He was a follower of stain and I hope he makes his presence known so that
1. We get more stain involved in the story
2. We can allow spinner some redemption and actually end up saving the heteromorphs and helping deku out for the final battle.

And shigaraki is literally being used and abused by OFA. That’s not even shigaraki anymore. Why wouldn’t he want to help the only hero Stain acknowledged and is trying to help save shigaraki per Nana Shimura’s request.

I think as we've seen in the series each quirk factor Houses the consciousness of the person that It originally belonged to So if you really think about it each one of those 3 abilities that spinner has inside of him are most likely 3 different clashing personalities his and the other 2 and hes getting so much Sensory overload that it's effectively destroyed his mind Whereas I think it's easier to deal with just one extra personality

Pixie Bob is at Gunga Mountain Villa and Ms Joke and Uwabami will be at Jaku and Wash is at Troy Parking Lot with Fat Gum, Aoyama and Kesagiri Man and Hound Dog will probably be at UA evacuees with Thirteen, Vlad King, Snipe, Principal Nezu and Shinso to protect the civilians from AFO spies and Selkie, Gun Head and Ryukyu will probably be at Okuto Island with Uraraka, Tsuyu, Sirius and Gang Orca
If spinner is to die it would interesting if he was taken down by one of two people: shoji or stain. If shoji is to defeat spinner it would be like you said of this shoji's main opponent, but if stain's the one to take him down than it would basically be stain stopping the monster he created.

I love shoji fight head on spinner, even he had zero chance to win, he still keep on fighting. Show not only he is true hero but he had incredible will power.

I feel so bad for spinner the whole story for me is interesting but to just have him go out like a nomu is very underwhelming and tragic if there is some defiance in him towards AFO it would make the it better he should be the one that helps reach the true inner child of tenko and shigaraki if it just ends here for him I will be very disappointed
I would argue that Spinner is not becoming a Nomu. But rather a minor version of Makia, a giant lumbering beast, with multiple quirks, who is pretty brainless unless given instructions.

It would’ve been interesting seeing the series explore how society discriminates against people with mutant quirks (as much as how that doesn’t make sense). Also it’s no wonder there’s so many villains wanting to change society since it’s essentially ok to bully mutants and quirkless people (and I did the math of 20% of the population being quirkless and 1/3 of 80% being mutation quirk havers and it essentially rounds up to almost 50% of the population. AfO could’ve used that as a motivation for why he wanted to change the world instead of being a straight psychopath)

I've always liked shoji and this was a moment I've been waiting for for a good while, I can't wait to know what this new attack is, its probably just a huge punch which I think should be called 'octo-glock' and its him wrapping an arm in a bunch of others which gives it a lot more power
As for what going on with koda, I honestly think it's just telepathic control instead of him having to say it as when we see his head all spiky it looks like the spikes are revealing the middle of his head and it has an emailing effect, we don't see him tell the animals to attack the leader guy so it is most likely telepathic control

Would really appreciate some of the Students getting Quirk awakenings. It was always a neat concept, but unfortunately the story just never dove into it too heavily. Which is a bummer, cause it would have been something pretty interesting.

Idk if anyone thought of this, but that panel of Shoji scaling the building while being attacked by Spinner reminded me of the manga version of Eto chasing Kaneki across the building(chapter 56 of Tokyo Ghoul:Re)

This chapter is an example of what MHA should've been _really_ focusing on this whole time. Rather than putting so much emphasis on Deku and OFA, they should've focused more on the worldbuilding, the backstories of his classmates, and how the hero society isn't so perfect after all. I feel like that's the direction they were going after Season 3, but instead turned it into a generic "HeRoeS GottA BeAt tHe BaD gUyS FroM RuiNing soCieTy" story. If heteromorphs were facing THIS much discrimimation (I'm aware of Spinner's past, but Shoji mentioned that even children get killed on a regular), you'd think they would've mentioned something so dire a lot sooner, rather than at the climax of the series. So much potential wasted....
Its a superhero manga inspired by classic Western superhero comics. Most of these topics weren't exactly heavily in play. One of the few exceptions being the Mutants of Marvel
Not to mention its supposed to be about heroes in training. While I agree that adding some of this stuff would've been a good addition; 1.) Would've ruined the whole "Academia" theme waayyy too early, 2.) The topic was already expanded introduced with the "Not all men are born equal" line
I agree with you but OTOH this would've put the story too strongly into Seinen territory rather than Shonen, which could get into troubles with the publishers and all.
This would'a been a more Berserk or Elven Leid-like story than something Naruto-like.
While agree it would be nice to have more of this stuff fleshed out in the story, the story is primarily about Deku and OFA it only makes sense that's the focus. As for backstories MHA has done a solid job in comparison to most over battle shounen. The series already has done quite a fair bit of world building and has done more than enough to showcase how hero society isn't perfect, most conflicts in the series I the series are a result of the problems in the society to say otherwise is just stupid. What's even more stupid is that you're saying it's just good guys beat bad guys as the focus when that's clearly not the case it's like you watched season 4 and 5 with your eyes closed. As the discrimination thing yeah it's an issue but it's not a prominent enough issue that the general public sees, it's the same IRL there are problems that the general public doesn't see or are aware of that's just as fucked up if not moreso.

This show is more like superheroes and the whe society is a dictatorship/fascist regime, that if you don't conform to good and have quirks that are can be used for good, you are deemed evil and fucked with all the time by the superheros when in reality it's the society itself that made them evil and labeled then evil when they just wanted to exist without all the extra bullshit.
It's sad how much people root for the problems(superheroes) and the victims(villians) are always punching bags, but it's cliche and people love predictable cliches
Deku was literally being shown as discriminated against for having no quirk, which introduced to us the idea of classism/discrimination based on quirks, that was fleshed out for its entire plot-value(how AFO manipulated Aoyama's family out of fear that the heir is quirkless etc). Now the heteromorphs are being shown in the same limelight adding on to what was previously revealed about quirk society's classism. this is good writing if everything was writing out all at once it would've felt like the author's running out of plot lines

I would prefer if they don't get Kurogiri, the heroes thinking that they made a big save. Then BAM Deku can't sustain the 2nd users quirk causing AFO to be able to get rid of Aizawa and Monoma, then using his quirks to regroup for the final part of the arc. They could then let Shirakumo have their moment to break through and assist the heroes in the final push, even if he doesn't live to finish the fight.
