If your abusive ex was right, would you go back?
If the sky rained down unicorns, would you believe in magic?
Sorry, I got carried away, haha. I love your points!! True or not, if it's damaging it's damaging, and that's not okay. In my opinion if there was some amazing, explicit proof the BOM was true, which we're not allowed to have anyway apparently because then there'd be no test of faith, it's been enough years of searching, examination, testing, etc that it would be available by now. Maybe some people believe we're going to find some cave or artifact that proves the LDS leaders were right all along.. searching for evidence to prove a case instead of the other way around.
If I had been there I would answered, "Well, there isn't any explicit evidence, unfortunately, so hypothetical situations don't help much. Right now there's an absence of proof and overwhelming evidence of damage, so...that's what we have to work with here and now. Let's work with that (reality) and try to help people recover and/or not be pulled into a scam."
Well said.
If the Book of Mormon is true, it does not necessarily make the LDS Church true ;)
Correct, the question was would you believe not would you rejoin the church?
If anything the Community of Christ would be a better org to join that uses the BoM
Yes it does
@@chrewtransformation
U made ac genius comment. I'll explain why. The name of the Community of Christ church was, earlier in my lifetime, the Reformed Latter Day Saints (R.L.D.S.) church, which is in my opinion, a top tier sect of Mormon churches, even though, I have not had the opportunity to visit one of their churches.
Soon after the founder of the L.D.S. church was, in Y.T. language, "unalived", the members had to chose whether to follow Brigham Young (not family to Joseph Smith Jr.) or follow somebody that was family to Joseph Smith Jr.
The founder(s) of R.L.D.S. were family to Joseph Smith Jr. In my younger years, I knew that the R.L.D.S. had female Bishops.
The Brigham Young (the mainstream L.D.S) sect of 14000000 (14 million) members (world wide; mostly in Utah California, and Mexico) currently has headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah.
As I recall, the mainstream R.L.D.S. sect (now Community of Christ) of 1000000 (one million) members has headquarters in either Navou, Illinois or Independence, Missouri.
Thanks!
If the Book of Mormon was true (an impossible hypothetical), how Joseph Smith used it and the power he derived from it is classically evil cult leader stuff. I don't know how you could believe in the book of Mormon but not Joseph Smith, and that speaks volumes. S€×, power, money, the motives of many criminals.
When they find zarahemla I'll believe and pay my masonic dues to fund our subterranean city salt town. ..
I wouldn't even pay those wicked clowns then. By Joe's works we know them.
@monyetgoblog7038 good thing zarahemla is in the land of make believe.
Feels more like the question was would you believe again, meaning would you believe the Book of Mormon was true if it could be proven. Not would you join the church again
It does not matter. It just a book of stories. Jesus Taught the Truth in the Sermon the Mount and is all you need. It is copied in 3rd Nephi. Forgive and you shall be Forgiven. This is an Energy Universe. What you Give is what Comes Back. It is in your Best interest to Forgive and ask God to Bless EveryOne 😊❤
"If the BOM was true, would you believe again?'
This is like asking, "If Santa Claus does exist, would you believe in Christmas?" How do I ask the question? The chance that Santa is actually real is actually not zero--but are you gonna bet on that? I can believe in the spirit of love and sharing, but I can't really tell everyone there's a big man riding reindeer giving gifts to children, and start a religion about it collecting donations.
Wait, Santa is not real😳
@@PrairieChristianOutreach 😸
It’s true, Santas not real. After all the confirmations I had while praying, and as much as I had built my whole life around the jolly old elf. It took me me most of my life to figure that out, but even after that I spent nine more years in the cult of St. Nick for fear of losing my family. Yes I am done believing in Santa and his 12 flying rain deer.
@@SteveSmith-os5bs Your last sentence is gold. 😀
Wait, Santa Claus (Saint Nicholas) WAS a REAL PERSON. St. Nicholas (St. Nick) was the 4th century Greek bishop of Myra (now located in modern-day Turkey). He wasn't a "jolly ole elf" but a Christian Church leader.
Christmas is the Holy Day celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. 😊

I wonder if this would be similar to asking a TBM if there was 100% proof that the Book of Mormon was false, would you still stay? And they respond with "yes" and then cite all the other reasons why they would still attend.
LDS church is not the only church the believes in the book of mormon. There are other branches that gave women priesthood long ago, treat women as equals, never had any racist teachings, and are completely open and accepting of others sexuality, and never practiced polygamy, in fact call it what it is, an abomination. So yes, the book of Mormon can be true amd the lds church still be false, or at least have false doctrines that have been harmful to others.
There are easily 400 different churches that see the book of Mormon as the foundation of their religion.
Just because you are the largest branch of the book of Mormon church doesn't mean you're the true church.
The Catholic church is much bigger than the Mormon church and that doesn't make them true.
The Book of Mormon being true, and the LDS church being true and two completely different things.
Nope, they go hand-in-hand. It's the keystone of their religion. Even their leaders say that if the book is false, the whole religion comes tumbling down. Do you think God would be dumb enough to inspire a book to start a religion and then couldn't even be able to keep his own members on the right path? That's as lame of a God as you can get.
@@mylesmarkson1686 I think you are misunderstanding things. The LDS church and the Book of Mormon are different concepts.
The Book of Mormon could be true and the LDS church false. This is the same concept as the Bible can be true, but the Catholic church false.
@@Telavian But this book goes HAND-IN-HAND with their religion. Why do you think they call them Mormons? Thanks for completely ignoring everything I said just because you are so determined to be right.
@@mylesmarkson1686 There are several groups which claim a belief in the Book of Mormon. The LDS church is just one of them.
Saying, "What if the Book of Mormon were true," is like saying, "What if the Earth was flat and made of Jell-o."
I'm not sure that would be the best equivalent argument. Archeological evidence suggesting that something isn't true is not as strong as scientific evidence proving something is true. (i.e. the Earth is round and made of solid rock)
@@cmr4622 The fun thing about the Book of Mormon is the archaeological evidence or lack thereof is just one issue among a host of many.
The issue is for me want necessarily the truthfulness of the the Book of Mormon. It’s the self serving “revelations” in the Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price. More damage has come from them as the playbook of what to think as a Mormon…..for several years the only serious consideration I made when someone told me what to think came from a group of young inner city kids who told me I needed to fight for the right to party…..words of wisdom in my opinion.
BoM makes good rolling papers when in a pinch. Worthless otherwise.
This woman doesn't understand the basics of epistemic claims. If X is true, then ipso facto the denial of that X (which is what the "would you believe again entails") is to embrace absurdity. This stands independent of other assertions or agendas. This core failure of understanding means there is a lack of serious thinking.
The opposite is coming to light that it's false.
Actually, there is more and more evidence for the Book of Mormon every day
@@mikemayes2985 Nope the whole thing is a work of fiction. Knowledge is power education doesn't hurt anyone.
@@mikemayes2985 And that evidence is?
Say it louder for the people in the back! 👏👏
The question is ridiculous out of the gate. It skips past known evidence to the contrary. They quesiton is necessarily, "What if all the evidence that the BoM is false evaporated, somehow, AND evidence that it was true surfaced?" You have to have both at the same time. You can't introduce the positive evidence without first dismissing all the negative evidence.
Preach!
NEVER! BTW, on the latest upcoming "profit", Oaks, Martin Harris is his third great uncle. He was also a banker who had ample funds to finance Smith.
If the Book of Mormon were true - it wouldn't be the Book of Mormon. 😊
I have not asked that question yet but it really doesn't matter. Because from my perspective the book of Mormon does testify about Christ which is why I think people who read it feel the spirit. As to the church i felt the same spirit that testifies of Christ tell me that the church was not true. What ever the difference between the two the church is not the gospel. That is the defining difference to me the priests of king Noah had a fallen church the gospel was still true. The Jews had a fallen church but the gospel of Christ was still true. So I would still not believe unless the spirit told me something was true.
Love this video! It definitely was not good fruits for me!
Yea I left before I knew about the truth claims. They don't really matter much compared to the beliefs and doctrines taught about how to treat women, people of color, people in the LGBTQIa+ community. How people are treated matters, misogynistic ideas matter. And harm to one person is harm to all. Racism sexism, homophobia hurt those who implement is as well as those who suffer at their hands.... Its bad for All.
Amen
Well said.
What about ALL the evidence AGAINST the BoM?! I totally get not being able to prove something true that includes god or a higher power, but I can only believe a lack of evidence if there is a total lack of evidence, not only on the side of truth.
Book of Mormon is true and if read is the most anti Mormon book out their it is the word of God and we have trampled it and set it as not
Ew, Hinkley
He knew it was a fraud and was telling everyone. It's hides in plain sight.
