I like the concept, but that lady just threw the Wilton cake decorating method out the window! Oh my Lord! She should have slowed down and torted her cake correctly and the iced her layers correctly as well. I know im not a senior Wilton cake decorator but wow slow down and take some pride in your work.
Its supposed to be a "how to" video so it should be done neat... They focused to much on sellin the product that they forgot its supposed to be about executing the technique with the product
For all the Negative Nellies, it was obvious she was doing this demonstration for someone, maybe a show, so usually that means a crunch in time and results are not as nice as if you actually had time to do it. I think she did a great job and I loved the colors she used.
she had time to perfect the finished product. she just didn't have time for the instruction. on top of that the colors she picked make the cake look like a mess. if its gonna be an instructive video it needs to be done right
I baked 3 colored layers, used the divider to cut, then arranged and frosted. When cutting slices it came out very nice and impressive. HOWEVER, since the cut sections were PLACED together not BAKED together, they separated and slid downward a bit. Next time I will pour different color batters into each section, pull out divider and repeat with the other 2 pans. I am, however, concerned that the batter will run together and ruin the effect. Hope this helps. :)
Tanyamar79 Hello! The insert comes with the Checkerboard Cake Set that can be purchased at many retailers and on Wilton.com. Here's the link >>> s.wilton.com/1tvjzhg

Good simple tutorial, but no offence to you but its a sloppy presentation. My cake looked a bit neater when I cut it

I am shocked. Almost everything that woman said and did was wrong. And she put on the second layer cut side up which is a no no.
thanks I finally found someone to teach us
LoL I would use thinner cake layers....that slice is MASSIVE! ^_^
My cake batter leaked into other sections. How do I correct this. Add another egg?
Were the recipes the same? I seen another video that the density has to be the same. Could that be why?

can u bake 3 different coloured cakes and then use the insert to cut the circles?
That's a very interesting idea. I honestly don't see why you couldn't do that.
Maybe since yours is better, why dont you get your own show?
