UA-cam just suggested your podcast and as it showed as a first episode I checked it out. As a fellow introvert (there are so many of us in the knitting/fiber community) I totally get your feeling awkward in front of the camera. My daughter keeps telling me to do my own and I can't get past "nobody wants to hear me talk about knitting". I just checked out A Fiber Collective and ordered the Ryegate Hat Kit. Love interesting hat patterns. Best of luck and can't wait for Episode 2!!
Hi Mary Beth, if you do get to making a UA-cam channel. I love seeing new people join the community. I know you don't know who I am but if it helps I'm willing to see your videos. If it's something you truly want there are so many people who are going to want to watch your videos & support you.
Hello. Welcome to the you-tube community. You did a great job on this podcast. Your voice and style is very relaxing, relatable and knittable too 😊. Love the content and will be checking into the boxes. I hope you can continue to feature the smaller yarn companies as budgets tighten I still want to spend my precious knitting dollars and time on quality natural fiber yarns. It’s wonderful to get a knitters’ opinion before buying. Good luck and I can’t wait to see what you show next
Great podcast Claire. It was really fun to hear you mention your other business name Autumn and Indigo since I receive your newsletter. Nice to put a face to it. We are kind of neighbors…I live in southwest Montana and learned to knit at age 51, just before moving here from So. Cal. Frozen tundra and all! Was the best thing ever! Looking forward to all you bring to this knitting community! Thanks for pushing past your fears! You did GREAT1
Welcome from a fellow introvert Idaho knitter - southwest side of the state. Zero knitting community here as well. I love what the internet provides to me. You did a great job on your podcast. When you started talking about your yarn and projects you really relaxed into it. You will be great - I subscribed!
Thank you for being here! It’s so nice to see so many Idahoans, most introverts too! I can talk about yarn for days - admin is never any fun. 😂 I really appreciate your support! Happy New Year!
Congrats on your first episode! You seem very at ease, and did a great job. Looking forward to hearing more from you and checking out your products. Good luck!
Unbelievable! 2 days and already 9,000+ views? I thought I had “discovered” you, but thousands of people got here before me. Your introvert status resonates. Keep up the hard work of these podcasts. I’m thoroughly enjoying it! Going to check out your subscription services.
It's nice that you have a podcast now! I'm an introvert, too, so I feel you. It must not be easy to speak like that in front of the camera. It's perfect like you did!
It was horribly nerve wracking! lol I think it was about 19 false starts and a LOT of editing afterward. 😂 They say it gets easier with time, so fingers crossed. Thank you for watching!
Welcome! Good job ! I loved the soft music and your way of talking which made me comfortable.as many other viewers I totally get being concentrated with our knitting and not a lot of people or being on the spot light.looking forward to many more.🎉🎉
Delightful first episode. You were great! I joined right away as I love farm wool and want to support those who are supplying us diehard knitters with such gorgeous yarns! See you next episode
Welcome and thank you for your kind words!! Farm wool has become my absolutely favorite and January's box is woolly perfection. Thank you for helping me support them!
My first box arrived today! It was so much fun to open. As a fellow introvert, I can say that the awkwardness eventually goes away with practice. You’ll be feeling much more comfortable a few episodes in.
Wow that was fast! Granted, you are only about an hour from me. lol I'm hoping the awkwardness won't be so bad, especially now that I finished the admin part. Introductions and About Me's are so hard!
Hi Claire, just watched your first episode from Germany and really enjoyed it a lot. I like your style and the whole project you have in mind and although ordering yarn from you to overseas on a regular basis is probably not an financial option for me I will join the community you are about to build and have subscribed right away. I guess you will be surprised how quickly your subscriber base will grow. I have been sick for a while and had to stay in bed all day and was so bored that I watched almost every knitting/fiber podcast out there and yours was the only one I subscribed to. Of course that's only one single crazy German's opinion but I hope it encourages you anyway. Looking forward to watching you next time.
You showed up as a suggested video today. What a pleasant surprise. You did a great job on your first podcast. The length was perfect and you showed just the right number of things. I’m excited to see and hear more about the fiber collective. The hat pattern is amazing! Thanks for taking the leap and putting yourself out there.
Well done on your first podcast, very informative, I have now subscribed to your channel and look forward to seeing more of you and yarn related goodies 😀.
So cool! Your idea and everything, so unfortunate though that I live in Germany, so I guess ordering yarn boxes will have exorbitant shipping 😢. I’ll follow you anyways for good company while knitting. Introverts make good podcasters in my experience 😉keep going ❤
International shipping costs are such an unfortunate thing! I do appreciate your being here and support regardless of what form it comes in - so thank you! Happy New Year to you and yours!
UA-cam suggested your channel. I have subscribed and I really like the sweater you have on. I checked it out on Ravelry and just want to say Thank you for being size inclusive! ♥️ I’ve also subscribed to your newsletter. I can’t wait to try your yarn 🧶
We LOVE it here! Originally from the Carolinas and after a few years in Spokane, we're feeling pretty good about where we're at. The northern belt is beautiful!
New subscriber here from Canada 🇨🇦. I think you did an awesome video, and I look forward to more! Wishing you and your family all of the Very Best in 2023 🎉
So happy you are doing a podcast!! Also love Prairie spun DK, it’s one of my favorite affordable staple yarns. That hat pattern is gorgeous!! Looking forward to the next episode and to the unboxing 🥰
Congratulations on your first episode! It is lovely. It feels like you are sitting in my living room and we're relaxing together, chatting about yarny goodness. Happy knitting!
Congratulations! I am wishing you the best and looking forward to following you. As for social media, I would do a KAL on Ravelry, there is absolutely NOTHING that will make me go back to Facebook. EVER.
Thank you so much! I have similar reservations about Facebook.. thank you for your feedback! There is a group now on Ravelry: www.ravelry.com/groups/a-fiber-collective
Found your channel today, you did a fantastic job, and look cute in a hat, best of luck to you, I'm looking forward to learning to knit, as I am a crocheter, New Goal for the new year, learn to knit 🧶
Hello. Welcome. UA-cam recommended your podcast. I loved it you did a wonderful job. I’m also an introvert and the thought of getting in front of a camera is more than scary! I’m looking forward to more podcasts and more sharing of your projects. Happy New Year!!
Thank you Stephanie! It is SO scary, but much like everyone says, it does get easier after you do it a few times! Lots of bloopers, but the job gets done.
Thank you for starting this podcast! Cant wait for episode 2, I completely get the nervousness and being an introvert myself I get how scary putting yourself out there is and thank you for doing so! It’s nice to see other people in the fiber community assisting businesses who need to get there name out there.
Glad i stumbled your vlog, another one for me to follow and listen to. Love the texture on hat❤. Following you on Instagram as well. Congratulations on your first episode👍
Fellow introvert (INFJ specifically) here :). I am happy to see you on YT, which suggested your video. I remember you from (waaaaay) back in 2015 when you had an Etsy shop ! I look forward to your next episode.🌞
Hi Claire! Western Washington here. Family in southern Idaho. If you have a store, I WILL visit! I'm with you on the anxiety and crowd uncomfortable. Nice job working thru it. 👍
Thank you! All the patterns that are available are currently linked in the description. Is there one you're looking for that I might have missed? The socks haven't been released yet. Thank you for your support!
UA-cam must have suggested this channel because I'm working on your Ryegate Hat right now, thank you for a lovely free pattern and well done on your first episode!
That is awesome! I've been wondering how the channel has been seen so many times already, nice to know it's showing up in recommended feeds. I hope you're enjoying the pattern! Thanks for your support!
I really enjoyed your podcast and thought you did an excellent job, and you did not seem nervous to me. Well done! I'm off to check out the subscription box and patterns 😊
New to you and love what you represent. Thanks for introducing yourself and looking forward to seeming more from you and ultimately trying your yarn. 🙂
So glad for what you are bringing to this space. I look forward to following you! You were not awkward at all, soothing in fact, to a fellow introvert who finds festivals overwhelming. Welcome, congratulations on a great launch!!
Thank you so much for that! I can’t say I ever thought of myself as soothing, but I’m happy you think so. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and follow along! ❤️
So happy I stumbled upon your podcast. I subscribed right away 😊 Could you please tell me the name of the sweater you’re wearing? I really love it. Bravo for starting a UA-cam channel. You will flourish I’m sure 😊 Cheers from Montreal Canada 🇨🇦
Hi Claire: I found your podcast from the YT feed and subscribed right away. I love your podcast. It is so good! You did not appear nervous. You were genuine and your business offer another avenue to source yarn of lesser known farms and small businesses. Thank you for the Ryegate hat pattern, it is so lovely. I recalled your brand and followed you on Instagram. So glad you decided to podcast last year, now we know your brand a little better. Love your Searchlight Raglan sweater! I am so inspired to knit it. Does it contain short rows? I am not sure whether I can cable and do short row shaping simultaneously. I am not so good with doing German short rows for some reason. I just had to frog a raglan with short rows yesterday because I messed up the short rows. Going to try it again today. I am new to sweater knitting and trying to learn. Good luck with your lovely podcast! Keep up with the awesome work! ❤❤
Hi May Joe! Thank you for your kind words! The Searchlight Raglan does have short rows but the pattern breaks everything down row by row. I'm so sorry to hear you had to frog a raglan - that's always such a bummer! Sweater knitting is so rewarding once you understand the techniques (part of why I'm offering tutorials!). I'll see if I can make a GSR tutorial in the near future. I'm always happy to chat via email if you need some one on one help!
@@afibercollective I know how to do GSR, sometimes it gets confusing. Is the GSR shaping happening with the cables simultaneously? If so, not sure know if my skill level is up to par. I am currently knitting another raglan pattern. Would like to try your pattern, but not sure if I can be successful. I’ve seen Amanda (Birch & Lily) worn it on her podcast and some of your other testers’ beautiful sweaters! I love their sweaters. I want to knit a sweater with some cables, but not crazy amount of cables. Your pattern seems to fit my criteria. Thanks for the heads up! ☺️
Loved your episode. Will be checking out your subscription box. Has Brown Sheep Spinnig Co moved? I thought they were based in Mitchell Nebraska? Fellow Idahoan - I'm in central Idaho.
I hope this podcast helps you and over time you have less anxiety. I myself find that groups of people are scary. I hope to see another of your podcasts soon..
Congratulations on your first episode. From one raging introvert to another, I feel your struggles - but you did a great job!! I look forward to learning more about the Fiber Collective ☺️
So glad to hear that. Is a lefty continental knitter any different than a righty? I learned to crochet first and the idea of holding yarn in my right hand just didn't work. lol
@@afibercollective I guess it is not that much? I learned with tutorials from a continental knitter who is right handed so I had to mimic all his instructions on my left hand. But I made it work for me since I tried for months to learn english style and I had to give up after much frustration
Also a fellow introvert, living in a very small community on the eastern most coastal part of NC. I'm very limited and stay home, starting a Fiber Arts business within the next month. I would look into Discord, I'm very versed with the platform and it would be perfect for a Community as well as being able to moderate the conversations, threads and MALs. Reach out if you have questions, Happy Knitting and would love to collaborate.
Oh you did so good in front of that camera. I'm not a introvert but my husband of almost 38 years use to be so bad he would almost studder if someone spoke. However I am as extrovert as they come. I have been very ill since 2008 when after 8 surgeries I had to give up my job as a Neonatal Icu Nurse forever because I was so sick and the surgeries were on my legs and I had problems running and leading a code team. That was back in 2008 and I'm up to 146 surgeries and I can't walk at all and I'm still in that hospital bed poor as they come because My $6000 a mth job pay turned into $940.00 and $318 a mth comes off that for my meds. And I had 3 surgeries in 2022 and my total bills were just over $1.5million and $28,376i have to pay. Heck I'm still paying on surgery #11. Life is not fair, and for that reason ive never made me a sweater or socks or even a beanie because I just can't do it in the made from China yarn. A collective box would be a dream, I have never got to do the subscription route for the shock or surprise and I feel after 29 years as a nurse working on 7pmto7am shift so I could go to school plays and school trips as chaperone. I am so "pissed"at the government because I worked so hard and I get $600 to pay towards our bills which my hubby says I'm paying the most important the house payment. Oh honey I am sorry I'm ranting but I enjoyed your podcast and I will watch again. Welcome charlene
Hi Debby! Thank you for your interest in supporting the mission! Head to the website: www.afibercollective.com - you’ll see subscription box options there. We appreciate you!
I enjoyed your first episode very much and look forward to seeing more!! I couldn't believe it when you said "southeast Idaho"... I'm from northern California, but I married a Pocatello guy. My 97 yr old father in law lives in Malad, so my husband and I make trips up there about every 6-8 weeks to help him (he's blind, can't hear and barely walks and lives alone). I must have discovered you too late, as there are no more January boxes left. I would love to be able to try some locally sourced yarn/fiber! You're right..the knitting community there in SE Idaho is pretty much non existent, but I always keep my eyes open when we are there...thank you so much for putting a delightful podcast out there!!
How cool is that! The world seems much smaller these days. I'm about 45 minutes outside of Pocatello in a small satellite town outside of IF. I have ONE Farm yarn subscription box left - it's set up for month to month but can be an annual if you'd like. Just message me! :)
@@afibercollective I had never used it before about a month ago. I’m in a few knitting groups. Each group can have different channels with different things. Like one is introductions, one for questions, you can have channels specific to each pattern, etc. It seems well laid out. And you can belong to multiple groups and switching between them is easy. There’s no advertising so it’s very “ pure”. I can’t think of a better way to describe it. I like that it’s just the group, no ads, and that I can go to the page “channel” that interests me that day. Very organized.

That’s totally another blooper on my end! They are indeed located in Nebraska. I’ll make a note in the description. Thank you!!
I hope this podcast helps you and over time you have less anxiety. I myself find that groups of people are scary. I hope to see another of your podcasts soon..
Thank you! Happy New Year to you and yours!
I love that hat! Great video! New subscriber here! See you next time
Thanks for subbing!
Hope your ventures go great
Thank you very much!
Congratulations on your first episode. From one raging introvert to another, I feel your struggles - but you did a great job!! I look forward to learning more about the Fiber Collective ☺️
Thank you so much! The struggle is SO real. I had about 20 false starts. 😆 Thanks for being here and for your support!
Love you first episode! Typo on introduction "collecitve".
ha! You're so right - thanks for pointing that out. Can I blame nerves for that one? Yikes!
Enjoyed your podcast, new subscriber.
Awesome! Thank you!! 😊
I will check your tutorials they help me a lot and glad to see another continental knitter out there (i am a lefty tho) ❣️
Thank you for so information a the Fiber Collective. Would like to get involved in this process. How can I order this? Help!😃😃😃
Will you have knit along ?
I hope to in the future!
You spelled collective wrong in your intro.
I know… blaming the nerves. 😅😬
I thought your first video was great!
Oh thank you!
Hi from Ohio. I think this is a fantastic idea and I very much look forward to your subscription box!! Congratulations !
Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to comment - I really appreciate your feedback and am happy to hear you're looking forward to it!
You should try Discord for the group. It’s away from social media and I’ve noticed more makers choosing it. It’s very nice
Thank you for the suggestion! I don't know much about Discord so will have to do some homework. Do you know how user friendly it is?
I love Discord. I think it is very user friendly. Even my parents/in-laws can use it (they are in their 70s).
Great episode 1! Looking forward to the future ones
Thank you!!
