Small channel here - I dropped out of school/a job I hated to pursue what I love, cooking and storytelling, through this page. This is incredibly helpful, man. Just started 2 months ago with no real idea of what I was getting into and looking to you for so much inspiration.
That video was sitting in my tabs for over a week. I finally decided to watch it in it's entirety. It was extremely insightful and it gives perspective. It helps aspiring creators remember that time is in 99% of cases, an inevitable component of success. Even, for a UA-camr with a "leg up" because he's already created a successful channel and is potentially better versed into growing. Much like what you said, it also emphasizes the benefits of the overarching goals. Really, great video. Thanks!
Patience is key mannn! I was a little mad that you didn't give that "quality vs quantity" video a chance to do its thing like your secret channel. But I am happy that at the end you found out how time & patience plays a key role in success. A lot of my most viral videos took 3 months for it to touch its initial blow up. I say continue to improve each video but Mann GET THOSE IDEAS OUT! cheers for a new year!
Great work Bruno. This was the first video that I watched without skipping parts at all for a very long time. You have managed to put a lot of things in practice that I have talked about for a while. I think this video will show you ( I hope) that quality of a video isn’t directly linked to image and/or sound quality. If you look at Ryan Ng for example - he manages to produce high quality videos with very simple tools (and great editing & storytelling). Excited to see more of you in the future - I can learn a lot from your progress for my own channel.
Awesome, thanks for sharing. I've come to learn that the most important part for UA-cam is your concept, information, research, storytelling and structure/writing. Everything else is just your format and style.
Congratz on the consistency and effort! I also did started a brand new UA-cam channel in the LEGO stop motion animation niche about 6 months ago (the thing I truly enjoy doing after from my day-to-day job), and I see it must take a lot of time and effort to grow. I use my UA-cam experience coming from my old channels, I put a lot of work in the video production, and what is most important - I enjoy it a lot! I wish the numbers were higher, I wish more people in the LEGO niche could see those videos and have fun watching them, but that's not what I can control and it's not something we should mainly focus on. The quality defends itself. Take care, and all the best in 2024! I wish you reaching your 2024 goals! 👍
I am also in the same boat with you on animation paired with music/effects pedals. I want more folks to watch and have fun, laugh at the silliness while forgetting the world is on fire for 30mins! I keep striving for higher quality and work so hard but to reduce the quality betrays the art medium I’m working in. It takes months. It’s just me creating everything that’s filmed, scripted, heard, and animated. Create and hope for best and I wish you growth of your LEGO work in 2024.
Hey man you got really great film making structure ! I may drop some constructive criticism , I feel like the visual's are great but the story telling could be improved, It feels very cut and dry at times. I feel like you could benefit from planning it as a story but otherwise this is a great video!
This is cool, 5:55 you spotted that UA-cam did not promote your video on one channel, but did on another. This means to me that many channels can upload until they are blue in the keyboard but their videos will not be seen. (In the case of my channel, my videos are lame and Neil at UA-cam has offered to pay moving expenses if I take my channel to Facebook)
i think its because on an established channel the algo thinks it has found your audience or conversely its still not sure and doesnt put much effort into finding it anymore, but on a new channel its actively hunting the audience for you etc so will have a fresh start kind of thing?
thank you so much. for some reason I thought that changing video titles and thumbnails in hindsight has no effect on views anymore. it was fascinating to see what it did to your tutorial video.
great and insightful video, congrats! if your still struggling with the 'i learnt AI' video thumbnail, I'd have a computer/laptop screen in the thumbnail, maybe with you sitting behind it looking confused or stressed. the video isn't about the reel footage you made (like the thumbnail currently shows) its about you and you attempts to learn how to make something and additionally should inspire others to try or not give up (aka be like you). its about the journey and not the destination and your thumbnail should represent that
Such a great video! I am so glad I came across it! I always wondered if it was possible (or a good idea) to change the title and thumbnail of a video once it has been uploaded. I guess that from what you are saying, UA-cam picks up on the changes right away. What you did not say anything about, however, is changing the description of the video and if that would make a difference too?
Inspirational. I am still working on getting my niche' approved by UA-cam. I am concentrating on Audio remastering of vintage concert footage which after initial testing seems to have a strong market. This has been met with some resistance due to copyrights. Not that I can't use it, but they are hesitant to monetize the channel. My intent was never to monetize those videos (leave it to copyright holders to receive the revenue), but to just provide popular Remastered footage as examples (before/after) for viewers to enjoy while also mixing in my own original content featuring "how to" and audio tech information. Working on the latter right now in order to have YT reconsider. Your content is very useful and helps to motivate me. Thank you!
Well for me personally i got me a Monetized youtube channel with over 20k from viral npc marketplace (it is now 30K) and im now earning like an old youtuber. This what majority of the people do now im trying to share my experience :) Btw good video THO
This is really interesting. You are living the exact life i want to have. You arent a youtuber to be famous, you are breaking down the science of internet video creation.
I appreciate you so much for making this video. I’m a fellow filmmaker, and creative professional and I created this new channel a few months ago has a one stop shop for videos of all my interests, but I’m starting to see that it’s way too diversified and I’m trying to figure out what that good niche market is so I can primarily pull people into my music. I’m trying to display to a new audience that I’m not just a rapper but I’m at Creative Profesional with the crazy life story and I’m trying to tell it through music and video.
This what happens to me: I click this kinda video, watch it and at the final I permanently hear the same conclusion. The same: title and thumbnail, patience, do what you like, it takes time. Thank you guys! I already know. And I use this knowledge...
This video will change my life because I started another channel 7 months ago and I'm putting 100+ hours into every vid but not getting views, now I need to work and change titles and thumbnails. Every comment is always "Awesome edit" or "Underrated channel". Thanks for creating this one, now I know my flows.
Thinking of creating a video about this and interpreting the data from each change. It basically comes down to looking at your CTR-data and trying to make it go up by improving your title and thumbnail. There's a lot more to it though. The data you see in your UA-cam-studio doesn't tell you the whole story since you don't know what audiences UA-cam is suggesting your video to.
This video does a great job capturing the complex and competing factors in trying to build a successful channel. It also reflects the kind of experimental and creative side that any UA-camr has to engage in but rarely gets to share, especially when it doesn't work out. Great job putting it all together. Subscribed.
This was a great watch! I actually watched the entire thing and it was nice to see you journey! Got yourself a new subscriber and I am here to follow your journey 😁
I’m currently in the process of building out a new channel as well where I will also be focusing on making my shots look cinematic. I’m glad I found your channel and I will be checking in on every video you upload! Keep up the good work, fellow dutchie! ❤️🙌🏻
I always enjoy watching videos like this. it proves that anyone can do it with the right strategy and dedication. ive yet to make it in to the partnership program but the feeling after seeing a video you've created actually turn out decent is so rewarding.
You can do it. Just watched your latest video. Seems like your structure and script is on point. Perhaps do some research on your specific niche and try to find topics that people are interested in.
Hi Bruno, a newbie here. A simple technical question if I may... I see you're using the RODE NT-USB. I have the exact same microphone (the first edition), and I'm trying to figure out how to connect it to my old DSLR, Nikon D7100, as it has only 3.5mm jack for that purpose. Did you connect it directly to your camera, or to your laptop/PC, separating the sound and video recording and synchronizing them in post later?
thank you very much! this was so inspiring. can you show how you created those shots from the top of your room? i loved them. and also noted that those plants need some extra nutrients. thank u again for all the great content and inspo!
Yes! It was a 360 camera placed on a tripod close to the ceiling. Put it in timelapse-mode and did the rotation and zoom in post. Plants have been watered and they are very thankful for your notice 🌴
Fascinating stuff! Almost shocking how a great video performs like total garbage unless the title and thumbnail is great. I guess books figured this out decades ago when they starting focussing on interesting cover art and catchy titles. All the best for the future, subbed 🥳🙏
Hey, fellow skateboarder and makeup artist here. Your channel is really inspiring me to get back into creating content. I’ve been on UA-cam since 2005 and changed my channel theme so many times. Creating content around trending themes is a really good way to get views, but there is also the conflict of making videos you are passionate about vs what brings in revenue.
I'm just starting and I see that it will be necessary to put a lot of effort into you tube, a lot of things will have to be learned. but where there's a will, there's a way, I'll persevere this year to see what the result will be at the end of the year. thank you for your advice.
Wow, dude, this is really interesting. The thumbnail, and the title were super intriguing, even though I'll be honest, I didn't feel like your thumbnail popped that much. But I studied it enough to be super curious, even though I've never heard of you before. Well done! I think the best part was the cheat codes on paired with your title about a secret UA-cam channel. I'm definitely going to be figuring out a way I could do the same on my channel. Even more importantly, I really appreciated your message. And all of the things that you learned over the past year. It's been a long grind on UA-cam for me. I've been on the platform for five years, granted I started with zero editing or filmmaking experience basically . I had a way to climb lol On top of being in a very saturated niche with fitness. But just your point ring, so true that anything good takes time. It's the same thing with building a physique. Most people want hyperfast results, but it just takes a long time of putting in the work and making the right choices and getting one percent better. It's absolutely the same with UA-cam and filmmaking. Really appreciate your channel and you earned a new sub!
I still don’t understand the thumbnail thing. When I visit your channel that one video of how to make movies does not have a compelling thumbnail imo. Can you explain?
If you saw one of these videos, you have seen them all. There are many creators out there trying to "sell you the shovel" while not really knowing how to dig for the actual gold themselves. If you are a true creator and keep making videos, soon or later, the right audience will find you. Good luck.
Could you explain why the audio setup for this video makes it sound like you've crawled into my ear? It was a very noticeable difference coming from another video. Just curious :)
What an interesting video, different than the classic one year in review, with more qualitative assessments and your own subjective observations which i found to be actually valuable to me. Thank you 🙂
Wow, congratulations to your journey. I really love this video and I'm now a new subbie. I had my channel for almost 10 years and nothing happens, lol! So I really need to use some of your tips, if not all ;) . Have a fab day1
My TikTok blew up a bit talking about my job I got bored of it… i have so many other things i want to talk about. It didn’t get so much response on TikTok, so i started my UA-cam channel for that purpose.
It is luck is most cases. At least it feels like that. You already had experience. Cellphones are better every year and everyone is reposting content across platforms so it is more difficult nowadays to standout from the the zillions of videos uploaded every day.
ai art/videos in general is kind of fishy because, sure, it makes non-artists' lives easier, but they have to take note that these programs collect images from other artists without their consent. it is most likely that your works have been used to train ai models as well without you being aware of it. i honestly really liked the idea of ai art at first until i realized how soulless the results are no matter how much people train these ai models to be better. add to that a lot of errors and time just to get the right image, and sooner people realize it's better to just learn creating art/videos without depending too much on ai. that way they get the result just as they pictured it in their minds, and they feel good about it.
You're right but every single human artist does the same thing, every artist is inspired by various other artists and that is embedded in their style just like how AI does it.
I’ve been on UA-cam for 7 years and I’ve made £2000 😂 It’s so hard to make money as a small creator on UA-cam but I love every minute it gives me something to focus on and a creative outlet which I love every minute of! I’m thinking of starting a new vlogging channel and see how that goes
I'm more into memes and gaming but I found this video really interesting Shorts and live streams is what I fell in love so I don't have the time for normal videos but I'm working on getting an editors since I got to 1k and I'm monetized hopefully I will be more convincing to work with somebody
It's definitely not luck, at least not in your case with your experience on UA-cam and your skills in videography etc. For newbies to UA-cam starting out with zero experience and no professional equipment I think there is is some measure of luck involved and especially when choosing subject matter. If you can focus on a subject that people are passionate about, or affects them in their day to lives so that they are looking for help, advice, support or solidarity, you can find an audience. I see very small channels with no professional video skills and no thumbnails (I've heard they make no difference at all - I see conflicting info on this) getting monetised but of course, these people aren't doing it to make a living. It's a side hustle and if they make some extra cash out of it, all is good. Thanks for your upload. Very interesting!
Hey man… thanks for this video. I also have a skateboarding channel and I often find myself looking for ideas on how to improve my views and after watching this video, I changed the tittle and thumbnails of one of my videos and I was able to see an improvement soon after that. I’m also in love with making videos. I’m constantly trying to learn, mostly from UA-cam but sometimes I find myself questioning rather to continue or not with a skateboarding channel even though it’s my true passion! Thanks for sharing your story! Wishing you all the best for 2024!
Hey that's awesome! I would recommend changing the titles and thumbnails of your videos that perform the lowest. There's a lot of psychology to this! Couple of great books that explain this are: Made to Stick & Contagious. Highly recommend if you want to improve on UA-cam.
Nice. Good story. I like the way you deliver information :). I was thinking about making one (just one) quality youtube video, with good content and good visuals. To see what happens. This video actually gave me hope, that fresh creators can succeed with good content :)
Make them click then keep them. You can do it with a 20k camera or a 20$ camera (as long as the audio is decent) Fancy is nice but maybe not worth the time. Unless you feel it is. Not only is the title important but the time you post. You can delete a video with no views, reupload it and get 300k. That is how stupid UA-cam is. I posted 15 shorts a day for 30 days and got 6million views in 3 months but means nothing. It's easy to hack if you understand it but you need UA-cam to push your content and the best way to do that is not niche. Make content that appeals to the Broadest audience and don't tag it at all lol if you don't tell UA-cam who your audience is it will work harder for you ;)
Loved the video, very informational and pretty much solidifies that thumbnail and title are king above all else. Without figuring out those two things. might as well not make the video.
Its is a combination of luck and skill. Luck is always involved. The best Niche to have is one that interest everyone like money. Something like fixing cars way less people do that so those channels wont have as much potential as a finance channel because everyone wants to be rich but not everyone wants to fix a car themself. What defines good quality?

A lot of my most viral videos took 3 months for it to touch its initial blow up. I say continue to improve each video but Mann GET THOSE IDEAS OUT!
cheers for a new year!
Congrats on the journey. So excited to see what you create in 2024 Bruno! :) #Believe
Hey ! You are the Ad guy, aren't you ? 😂😂
You’re 3 M subs
Great video, loved the journey!
💪👍
Keep going man! You really grown as a filmmaker, so this goal is more important on the timeline of life!
Interesting @@hottakes9242 . tHanks
thank you so much. for some reason I thought that changing video titles and thumbnails in hindsight has no effect on views anymore. it was fascinating to see what it did to your tutorial video.
great and insightful video, congrats! if your still struggling with the 'i learnt AI' video thumbnail, I'd have a computer/laptop screen in the thumbnail, maybe with you sitting behind it looking confused or stressed. the video isn't about the reel footage you made (like the thumbnail currently shows) its about you and you attempts to learn how to make something and additionally should inspire others to try or not give up (aka be like you). its about the journey and not the destination and your thumbnail should represent that
Such a great video! I am so glad I came across it! I always wondered if it was possible (or a good idea) to change the title and thumbnail of a video once it has been uploaded. I guess that from what you are saying, UA-cam picks up on the changes right away. What you did not say anything about, however, is changing the description of the video and if that would make a difference too?
this video was shown to me out of nowhere, watched every second, clicking through every video now, subscribed!! Great work!!
Thank you!
Well for me personally
i got me a Monetized youtube channel with over 20k from viral npc marketplace (it is now 30K) and im now earning like an old youtuber.
How's that working out for you?
@@angellover02171 , the way I said above.
Thank you for sharing Bruno, much appreciated!
OMG this is exactly the strategy I came up with for this year. I'm so glad to have this as a case example to compare to. Subscribing
I enjoyed your story, takes a lot of guts and passion, congrats!
Got yourself a new subscriber and I am here to follow your journey 😁
congrats we just hit 100k after posting for just under 7 months 🤙
Thanks for your helpful videos!! I´ve learned so much from you!!! Sunny greetings from Berlin 😍😍🌻🌻
This is such a detailed breakdown, I love it.
Hey, where is the video about color grading? I can't find it on your channel.
I’m currently in the process of building out a new channel as well where I will also be focusing on making my shots look cinematic. I’m glad I found your channel and I will be checking in on every video you upload! Keep up the good work, fellow dutchie! ❤️🙌🏻
Helpful, thanks
I always enjoy watching videos like this. it proves that anyone can do it with the right strategy and dedication. ive yet to make it in to the partnership program but the feeling after seeing a video you've created actually turn out decent is so rewarding.
You can do it. Just watched your latest video. Seems like your structure and script is on point. Perhaps do some research on your specific niche and try to find topics that people are interested in.
@@Bruno_Kay what is your main channel?
Thanks for sharing such a cool project with us! We really love learning new things about creating UA-cam content. 👏👌
Thank you so much for sharing all your information. Patience is something that i struggle with. This is very helpful to me and others.
thank you very much! this was so inspiring. can you show how you created those shots from the top of your room? i loved them. and also noted that those plants need some extra nutrients. thank u again for all the great content and inspo!
Great video. Good insights. Good luck with the journey. Just a tiny suggestion. Look up how the word "views" is pronounced. Best wishes!
👍
I'm just starting and I see that it will be necessary to put a lot of effort into you tube, a lot of things will have to be learned. but where there's a will, there's a way, I'll persevere this year to see what the result will be at the end of the year. thank you for your advice.
Thank you so much for creating this video and sharing your UA-cam journey. 🎉
This was incredibly inspiring. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and your continuing journey!
Great video Bruno. Love the analysis! :)
tHanks for the video! Wishing you and all the subscribers a fresh and exciting New Year!
I stayed at The Botel a few months ago! Lovely little hotel!
Thank you 🙂
Thanks! Yeah, I think focussing on the work and how you feel about it is just as important as the results in metrics.
As an average youtube watcher, I'd say Gawx art is absolutely amazing. His videos remind me of Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantinos movies
Wow, congratulations to your journey. I really love this video and I'm now a new subbie. I had my channel for almost 10 years and nothing happens, lol! So I really need to use some of your tips, if not all ;) . Have a fab day1
Great video, dude!
My TikTok blew up a bit talking about my job
I got bored of it… i have so many other things i want to talk about. It didn’t get so much response on TikTok, so i started my UA-cam channel for that purpose.
For next year my goal is to get a Desktop Mic Stand.
Im kidding, great work and very inspiring, congratulations on your succes.
Love the video man, thanks for sharing your journey!
Wow. Thank you for sharing this useful information. 👍👏👏Well done. New subscriber here.
Congrats on the journey and thanks for sharing this with us.
It is luck is most cases. At least it feels like that. You already had experience. Cellphones are better every year and everyone is reposting content across platforms so it is more difficult nowadays to standout from the the zillions of videos uploaded every day.
thats a nice video Bruno
ai art/videos in general is kind of fishy because, sure, it makes non-artists' lives easier, but they have to take note that these programs collect images from other artists without their consent. it is most likely that your works have been used to train ai models as well without you being aware of it.
i honestly really liked the idea of ai art at first until i realized how soulless the results are no matter how much people train these ai models to be better.
add to that a lot of errors and time just to get the right image, and sooner people realize it's better to just learn creating art/videos without depending too much on ai. that way they get the result just as they pictured it in their minds, and they feel good about it.
You're right but every single human artist does the same thing, every artist is inspired by various other artists and that is embedded in their style just like how AI does it.
Hey, Bruno! I really appreciate you sharing your whole journey :) Truly learned a lot :)
summary for me is: U need a shitton of money for equipment.
Would like to see a journey like this, with just a smartphone and free to use tools.
Nop.
I’ve been on UA-cam for 7 years and I’ve made £2000 😂
It’s so hard to make money as a small creator on UA-cam but I love every minute it gives me something to focus on and a creative outlet which I love every minute of! I’m thinking of starting a new vlogging channel and see how that goes
This video is so cool, very informative, and helpful. Congrats on your effort!
Great video! Question: for how long did you keep a thumbnail before changing it? Thanks!
Ik zie opeens een bekend gezicht op m’n yt homepage! Merry Christmas mate!
Haha wat een toeval! Merry Christmas! 🎄
Great and honest video. I would like to see how do you make cinematic shots by yourself. Like cam movements etc.
If anyone has any advice on how I can improve my videos it would mean a lot
I will watch and give honest feedback. All I ask is that you say thanks.
Great video! How did you learn Davinci resolve? I’m switching over from iMovie and I’m struggling to learn.
Hey man ik checkte vroeger regelmatig je skatevideos en nu kom je in mijn recommended met dit account, lekker bezig!!
Of course, it's not luck, at least not just that. It's planned work towards a goal with a little bit of luck too 🦄 Well done.
I'm more into memes and gaming but I found this video really interesting
Shorts and live streams is what I fell in love so I don't have the time for normal videos but I'm working on getting an editors since I got to 1k and I'm monetized hopefully I will be more convincing to work with somebody
Love this breakdown! Super insightful
nicee congrats!
👍
Slowly coming to terms with the fact that I need to be on instagram sharing my art 😂 this video helped, thank you!
cool video, when you talk about interpreting the data, what do you mean exactly?
Nice. Good story. I like the way you deliver information :).
I was thinking about making one (just one) quality youtube video, with good content and good visuals. To see what happens. This video actually gave me hope, that fresh creators can succeed with good content :)
I started uploading a few videos 4 weeks ago. It's really fun now with new equipment it will hopefully be more professional. Thanks for the insights
You'll improve! Perhaps not immediately but If you keep going for at least a year and look back. You'll notice!
Do you use cineprint 16?❤
Make them click then keep them. You can do it with a 20k camera or a 20$ camera (as long as the audio is decent)
Fancy is nice but maybe not worth the time.
Make content that appeals to the Broadest audience and don't tag it at all lol if you don't tell UA-cam who your audience is it will work harder for you ;)
Great analysis, much appreciated 👍
Loved the video, very informational and pretty much solidifies that thumbnail and title are king above all else. Without figuring out those two things. might as well not make the video.
Awesome video! I learned a lot and enjoyed it 🙏🏼🤙🏼
Its is a combination of luck and skill. Luck is always involved. The best Niche to have is one that interest everyone like money. Something like fixing cars way less people do that so those channels wont have as much potential as a finance channel because everyone wants to be rich but not everyone wants to fix a car themself. What defines good quality?
Very interesting stuff, i was honestly very surprised that with the tactic of changing thumbnails and titles.
Thanks for sharing your experience
Which monitor do you use with Macbook? Thanks
I use this one: AOC U2790PQU (27 inch)
