My issue is they have no problem dropping a whole season and bundles to take your money but refuses to fix anything. They don't respect where the money comes from.
I feel like the biggest indicator that overwatch’s dev team have run out of ideas or are unwilling to experiment is the fact that almost every new character in the game has just been a mash of other characters and not something fun or innovative. Hazard has a really cool design but words cannot describe how disappointing it was to see that every single ability he has is literally just a reused mechanic from someone else. He has no originality behind him and it’s so sad to see how far they’ve fallen off when it comes to fun and fresh mechanics
I got into overwatch because of all the fan art and comic dubs on UA-cam, then I started playing it and I felt like I was the hero I selected, and then I played the Blackwatch event and I felt like the story was evolving and so much deeper than I thought, experiencing the lives of these characters. I grw to love these characters, their identities, their stories. But over time Blizzard has made it clear that the community cared more about their characters than they did. Putting the story to a grinding hault, abandoning the identity of off tanks and the role of what a support even meant, and finally cancelling the PvE. The Overwatch I loved is gone, and it's time to move onwards.
the best part about overwatch was definitely feeling like the hero you are playing as, i talk ab doom and ball bc i resonated with those heroes a lot and their playstyles made me feel so cool while playing them, but the magic is lost now that blizzard js doesn’t care to improve their game anymor
Couldn't agree more man - I'm absolutely astounded at how bad the OW skins are these days, even the 'good' ones are like... I wouldn't have been mad to get it in a lootbox or anything, but I'm definitely not shelling out twenty human dollars for it! - Also there's a good joke to be made about Spiderman with the useless picks, but he can actually do some stuff in the right hands and I haven't had my coffee yet so that's a DIY one for y'all there. Having only one or two heroes like spidey and wolverine not being super great value picks for most average players is leaps and bounds better than OW, which had different buffs and metas that made so many characters unplayable or garbage because the dev team sucked all of the value out of them. edit: it's probably hard for the dev team to give much of a shit about the game when Blizzard is constantly doing 800 man layoffs and skinning them alive in terms of wages - they used to have lots of bonuses and perks that came with working at Blizzard to compensate for their payment being lower than industry average, but that went away a couple of years ago in order to please Shareholders. I think the people left working at Blizzard are either not really that skilled/talented or emotionally broken because all of their peers and coworkers have left by now for greener pastures. No smart person would put up with below industry average wages AND no bonuses/extra's just to work at Blizzard these days, with it's reputation in the gutter as it is. Like why would anyone who was half decent at their job still be there? I think that's why the new guy Hazard just looks like a young Reinhardt, exceptionally boring design, he looks clunky and weird in game, it's just strange.
the company has js given up hope on overwatch as if they don’t have a huge fan base who is begging and hoping that they do literally ANYTHING with the game that isn’t “let’s add another support who’s either rlly overpowered or is entirely useless”
Even though i agree with some of your points, i have to respectfully disagree with the second half of your videos: 1. "No character sits in the back and just heals in MR" Let me introduce you to Rocket, Mantis, luna, and CD 2. "There is no lifeweaver in MR" i guess that's because he is an Overwatch original hero, and your hatred towards his design and playstyle is extending to the game as a whole. 3. "Overwatch devs, don't give a s***" Are you talking about the same devs that listen to the community and patch unbalanced heroes in a week when in OW1 took 2 years to nerfed down Brig and get rid of goats? Because to me that sounds like this dev team cares about their game and their playerbase. It's true that good skins are almost non-existent nowadays, and ftp players are dying of thirst. The gameplay in it of itself hasn't changed that much(which you could argue was a mistake to put the 2 in there in the first place). Personally, to me, it sounds like the move to 5v5 and the rebalancing of the entire game to be more about individual skill and individual playmaking is what made you lose interest in the game but you still played it cause you were already really good at it and had invested so much time in it. And now that a similar game to OW1 comes out, that wonder and excitement of a team base heroe shooter is back for you. But in a couple of years(or maybe months cause most MR players are OW players that will demand balance instead of fun sooner or later) you will lose that excitement again and call MR a trash game because it changed from what attracted you to the game in the first place but that doesn't make it a bad game a a whole. Just say that you don't like something and move on. You don't have to call it trash and insult the devs that work hard, and by extension, the players like me who still play and like OW. Just som food for thought
I think what he means is theyre front loaded with easy or cheesy mechanics in ways where you can't really make them useful. Sombras hack will always be the most feast or famine ability in the game, either you insta win vs your opponent with auto aim, or they're like cassidy and your hack just does nothing because they took all the power out of hack, yet hack still exists so if it's useless she just feels like a worse tracer now, these style of abilities either weaken the hero and feel tagged on or they're the vocal point of the design and leave them as super niche picks like ow1 and when your entire niche is surrounded around an ability and playstyle people absolutely hate than you've now created an unbalanced mess you can never trully fix without a full overhaul. Mercy is like this with her dmg boost, and they even removed the tech in her flight which better justified the ease of use for it but after removing that, now mercy is just like playing a portable dmg boost... Illari is like this with her turret, either someone breaks it and now you can't heal and are effectively a much worse ashe or you're playing inna choke where you can place it Inna way where the limited flank hero pool has nothing that can realistically flank and take out the turret... And there's so many designs like this, they throw the entire skill curve on its head and stretches it so far that it feels like some of these heros can auto carry you to gold without any understanding of game sense or mechanic and than they fall flat on their face and it would take top 500 players that have played professionally to climb anywhere with them... Its simply just poor skill curve balance, while rivals has the best skill curve ive seen, even the easiest and seemingly one trick pony like heros like wanda or jeff have a surprising level of depth to them, they took the concept of early winston and mercy where they seemed brainless until you looked into their kits and than you realised, oh no this hero Is just good for onboarding and than they have depth that let's them climb without players feeling cheesed, but than ow threw all that on its head with their philosophy of "make a complex game and make it easier over time" so they made mercy brain dead in ow2... imagine spending 6 years mastering a hero just for the devs to allow anyone to pick up your hero and do what you spent years learning 😂 If I was a mercy main, I would have quit right than and there, they also did a similar thing with doom, only at least he still takes skill the player that mastered him can take pride in but mercy got done so dirty it actually is sad... now everyone hates mercy, they used to say mercys easy and brain dead and they were wrong in ow1, now theyre right when they say it and that's gotta sting alot...
No, the player base(My self included) thought those pve missions were worse than the blackwatch mission. There is no way I am getting into a subscription model to play dogwater PVE content. I don't think there are people who care about the game. The employees blizzard has left do not have the affinity to work on a hero shooter. I purchased battle passes due to wanting to support PVE content for overwatch 2, it came out that the PVE was canceled and they knew it for years. My money was stolen and I want it back.
lowk is they kept doing 3 missions for like $10 i dont think a lot of ppl would be that upset ab it, but not doing anything at all is the worst thing they could’ve done
yeah a lot of the supports in mr are just “short teammate to heal shoot enemy to dmg” but mantis and adam are really fun for me. and yeah i hate the optimization my bros pc cant even run it lmao
Good videa, loving Marvel Rivals but had to laugh at "there are no throw picks" - generally no, but Spiderman is the big noob bait for Rivals. Most popular character with the hardest skill set, the amount of 1/10 Spideys I've seen is atrocious. One even managed to throw themselves off the map before anyone got to point, lmao.
lol i meant it as in every character feels impactful, like even tho jeff is kinda underpowered he still can make plays and feel important, unlike lifeweaver n mercy who js sit back n watch everyone else
So like, is this entire video just about how you don't like Overwatch because on Ball and Doomfist you can't reach Lifeweaver when he stands on a petal? Now, I'm not saying that's what you're saying, but I'm struggling to understand your point because you don't exactly explain what's wrong with them. They're not "spectator characters", they're healers. There are other support heroes that are less heal-centric too, if you enjoy more mix of damage and healing like Illari, Moira, Bap etc. Or if you like to heal, but also like to shoot, there is Ana and Juno. It's weird to hear someone say they don't like Mercy or LW because all they do is heal, yet in the actual game if I play Illari or Moira I'll get instantly yelled at for "not healing enough" by scoreboard-obsessed feeders who wouldn't stop dying even if we had 3 supports healing them. Also Lifegrip is an absolutely insanely fun and unique ability, honestly the most satisfying ability in the game to pull someone back into the map after they're booped into the pit on Ilios, or grab someone out of a Rein pin when they're about to smack into the wall, and you have to be quick about it too with your reactions which makes it a way more fun ability than, for instance Mercy's res. The thing I could maybe criticise, is that it might make more sense to have an ability like Lifegrip on a hero that doesn't have an ability like Petal (but who does have some form of mobility cooldown to reach high spots, similar to Bap's boots.) That way Lifegrip wouldn't overlap with Petal, as both are abilities that can lift players to high ground. They do synergise well (petal and then pull someone to safety), but they also overlap in function too which is the opposite of a good synergy since both abilities can make the other obsolete. IMO it'd be cool if.... gripping someone who is at full HP, doesn't insta-grip them, they get an Interact prompt to accept the grip, and these Grips don't give you a long cooldown. So you can use it for re-positioning players (in a non-annoying way also) without wasting your cooldown. Since Grip is mostly saved for reactive use to save someone rather than pro-active. It's ok though to not like LW, that's fine, just don't play him. Likewise I'm sure tons of people hate playing with/against Doom and Ball. I do think LW could use some tuning though, I'd like for him to get more offence so he can look for kills more when his team is just falling over at the choke. He's very long range which means his projectile based weapon is mostly used for chokepoints and for defending himself when the enemy reaches him. Perhaps he could have his projectiles boosted in their travel-time so he can snipe stuff besides pylons, turrets and really bad widows, but the thorns get a nerf in damage but increase in RoF to keep them from being too crazy. Or maybe something like he gets Kitsune-style RoF increase on his petal, but firing while on a Petal drains its health or something... just trying to think of some offensive utility.
what? i said i like ball n doom bc their playstyles are so unique and intricate, and it takes time and skill to be good with them. i dont like mercy and weaver bc not only are they really easy , which attracts lesser skilled players , but they also don’t do anything BUT heal. in a game like ow, where you have kiriko, ana , brig , juno, all supps who can heal, do dmg, have ccs, have suzu, and game winning ults, a petal and a rez are not useful at all.
Also on Sombra... They tried to make all DPS good at burst damage but it just doesn't work with Sombra. Stealth + Burst Damage + Hack is genuinely insane. They originally designed Sombra as a Tracer/Support hybrid where she doesn't do as much damage as a Tracer and can't outright assassinate, but she can help her team with EMP, Healthpacks and distractions. It's probably time they just bite the bullet and put her in Support. I would... Remove the mobility cooldown silence from Hack, and it only acts as an interrupt for channeled abilities now like Bastion's assault form, or ultimates like Coal and Visor. Then I would give her her old translocator back, and remove Virus and put Stealth back in as a cooldown. Translocator now has a teleported healthpack hovering over it if you've hacked a healthpack, so you can hack healthpacks and bring them to your team to use mid-fight as your primary "big heal" ability. And her hack now puts a DPS-passive style debuff on the enemy, and for her "small heal" ability she makes the Enemy act like an Illari pylon which heals your team (so you hack the enemy Rein, their Rein now AoE heals your Rein when they're both in proximity.) That way she can heal and support, but in a unique way we haven't seen yet, without being a healbot, and her heal method is very trolly which is key to Sombra's identity, but without any of the dumb silencing or burst damage of virus.
My issue is they have no problem dropping a whole season and bundles to take your money but refuses to fix anything. They don't respect where the money comes from.
I enjoy overwatch , I been playing since release (im hardstuck gold still T.T)
safe from the monolith?
if it makes you feel any better, the metal ranks are more fun than masters+

Very interesting on the competitive side of the community I see them saying a different playstyle is what makes a hero innovative
His kit is really original

Illari and Sombra are useless? I can agree with lifeweaver and mercy but damn. Also haven't gone back to overwatch since rivals came out lol
I think what he means is theyre front loaded with easy or cheesy mechanics in ways where you can't really make them useful.

Supports in MR are generally boring for me outside mantis. I also hate how terribly optimized MR is.
yeah a lot of the supports in mr are just “short teammate to heal shoot enemy to dmg” but mantis and adam are really fun for me. and yeah i hate the optimization my bros pc cant even run it lmao
Loki is probably the most interesting support in both games
I feel like you
Overwatch 1 was the best out of the 3 imo. Especially before they nerfed all heroes. Also all skins were earneable by just playing the game.
i remember grinding each event to get all my loot boxes, those were the days
Who cares about Overwatch anymore. Marvel Rivals has its own problems but is already 10x better than Overwatch. They deserved this.
