I think the profile picture changing is symbolic, because in Apparition, when the hard part comes, the monster in the background turns from blue to red and their eyes open. His profile picture turned from blue to red, and all of a sudden he started gaining a bunch of PP and getting a bunch of scores. Which is basically the same thing as the monster in apparition turning red and the part where that happened in getting HARD.
