@@TAFishing But Graeme their is still room for you on tv and with all the extra help you could do a lot of traveling and fishing as you have done in the past, all over the globe. You would still have your freedom, just don't let it go to your head. Sure would like to see you fishing for big sharks like the great white around australia. You could still have ta fishing on here. With your personality and expertise the tv program would be an instant success as long as you are in complete control of the show, maybe with Mike as an advisor or something. The main thing in tv is having complete control of what is to be filmed and what is not. Keep some of your antics with Smith and Mabel along with Ted and the gang. I was just wondering if anyone in the business had ever contacted you. A tv show would be able to give us much more than you can produce on your own. Here in the states I have watched various fishing programs usually put on by one man. In Panama City Fl. their used to be a show called the Red Holland show where he had guest as well as took us fishing with us. Many times he would be by himself showing you can catch fish anywhere. He had one show where people said they couldn't catch anything from the local pier so he went and sat on the pier with his fishing stuff and caught flounder after flounder. But this was around 2013 I believe. In the south we love our fishing. Can't get around these days to do much of it so I watch you. I just delete all the others because I know they will just try and sell us something every ten minutes. I have purchased t shirts from ta fishing, but it just hangs on a hangar in my office where I sit and watch the tv as well as youtube. Use to love fishing on Chesil Beach, best 22 miles of English channel beach going, one end its large pebbles while the other end is small pebbles, use to fish the Abbotsbury part near Fleet (where the book moonfleet is mention) right on the edge of the swannery we use to set up camp stay the weekend, go swimming at low water if its late summer. the old tilly lamp was very handy, you could boil up a kettle on it, not been to Chesil beach since the early 70s. maybe I go back one day

Hi Graeme, just stumbled on your vid. I dont know if can remember your trip to the Isles of Scilly and the night conger fishing trip off the rocks . Nice to see you are still going . Take care Derek Metcalfe
Hi Derek,Yes,I remember your name now you mention it..I think I was there doing my first ever booklet"Sea FIshing in the Isles of Scilly"... We were fishing off either Deep Point or Penninis head,to the right of the wrasse area...One of the guys had a really bad fall going back over the rocks in the dark and lost his whole tackle box ...I can hear the crash like it was yesterday.
@@TAFishing It was deep point for the conger , cant remember how much we caught that night . I still find your booklet kicking around in the second hand shop . Another great video, plenty of conger there just hate when eels mess up the rigs like that. Keeps you busy when it's quiet trying to get them back to normal , not always possible though. Tight lines.

In the years when big Cod were around it was standard practice to put out a small baited hook with an unbaited large hook next to it. You would hook Whiting and leave it out there for a big Cod,which came along which then scoffed the lot. If you tried to cast a Whiting out 80 yards it wouldn't be too lively by the time it got to the seabed. Better to hook them out deep and leave them there. Don't think many anglers use this technique with so few Cod around now.
TA Fishing thanks for the hint I will have to give it a shot here in California we have lingcod that are voracious predators I am sure would take a hook like that.
I'd love to see you fishing the holderness coast in East Yorkshire and the river Humber. Lots of codlings so far the last few weeks up here. Really enjoy your videos Gra.

Hi Graham have you ever tried a catch and cook dogfish or bull huss-They must be very sustainable where you live. They were popular in the North East (Newcastle) when I was young. The fish and chip shops used to sell it and skate too.
Not on casting...I can still crack off with the best of them....As for trips ,yes in fairness I wouldn't know where to go in January anyway, can be a bit of a dead month....
@@TAFishing I live in south west Scotland and there is some decent shore and rock fishing to be had. Even tope from the shore but must admit I would love to fish the south coast
Hi Graham loving the channel I have a DJI Mavic drone and I am thinking of rigging it up for throwing the bait out further is this something you would consider on trying i’ve been watching some videos with the Ozzy throw them out using kites with about 50 hooks on the line A bit overkill I know for the UK but the further out the deeper it must get where the big boys hang out your opinion would be appreciated regards Wayne
Not sure where the sport fishing stops and the commercial fishing begins but no doubt it does open up another dimension of fishing,so has to be worth a try.
Nice session Graeme, a relative feast on the feast or famine beach. I am interested in your opinion on whiting. I live in an area where in winter, we have enormous amounts of pin whiting. Average 1/4lb or less. Almost every mark, fish with small hooks and you will get a full house every time, fish with big hooks and baits and, if the cod are not on the bite and get to the bait 1st, the pin whiting will just shred them to a bare hook. In 7 years I have had one whiting pushing 1 lb and that was on a 3/0 crab and lug bait aimed at cod. My question I suppose is given the volume of pin whiting about, would you expect that bigger ones, similar to what you're catching there, would also be present? In my 1st couple of seasons cod fishing, I had little knowledge and just fished the same small hooks and baits I'd fish in matches. The result was the same - large numbers of codling, but averaging 1/4lb. Then, after a trip to an area that holds proper codling and learning how to use crabs, larger pennell rigs etc, I took those tactics back to my area with comparative success. We don't get big winter cod but with the crab tactics, I started to weed out the pin codling and would average maybe 6-10 codling of 1 lb a session. Not big but enough to bend the rod. I just wonder if / why the same tactics would not work for whiting. I've tried the bigger hooks with worm and fish baits which I understand whiting have a preference for. More often than not they come back bare, I assume the teeth on the pin whiting just shred them. What I wonder is if there just are no bigger whiting inshore or there are, but they're so outnumbered by the small ones that it's like trying to catch pollack when huge shoals of mack are in - you just can't get through them. I know you don't live in my area but I understand that this happens in other parts of the UK. Concision isn't my strong point as you can see but I was just keen to here any thoughts you had or tips to try. Cod are late this year here so whiting are on my mind. Thanks.
I think there are just more small Whiting around than big ones and they get to the bait first. With so few Cod around to feed on them and only the Conger left as the main predator we probably will have tiny pin Whiting until the next batch of bigger Cod come through the system...if they ever do. I have noticed the better Whiting come off deeper beaches rather than shallow ,and probably fishing rougher ground with a bigger bait might sort a few better fish out. They seem to be getting quite a few nice Cod down in the Bristol Channel but nobody seems to know why the usual run of Nov/Dec Cod aren't moving along the South coast ?? And where are all the 3/4 pounders that we used to get off the beaches ? Maybe they just won't show at all(Again)
@@TAFishing Thanks for the detailed response Graeme. I actually do most of my Winter codding on my local patch off piers so fairly deep water though there is some mixed ground I haven't explored so I'll try that. Our 3/4 - 1lb fish are absent too. I'm way up in the North of Ireland in Antrim, best cod fishing sadly is way down South in Youghal, Blackwater estuary in Cork. The fish there will only take crab though, not feeding on the whiting. Dirty and huge tides like the Bristol Channel. I'm off there next week so 🤞.
I think the tip for fishing Chesil is don't stay near the car parks because most people stay there as I've learnt from my past on Chesil. Only a flounder but this was near the car park at Abbotsbury. Seen plenty of mackerel caught and see a small shark move into the area so all the mackerel got scared off.
Thanks for sharing! I'm a sea-fishing amateur but I'm just wondering what the currents are like there? They look pretty strong (undertow?) at least close to the beach as it looks steep.
Chesil can be hazardous. Very steep, constantly shifting, strong currents and riptides. Not one for swimming. Well worth a trip though if you're an angler.
Now I have discovered them they are so much warmer than the blue jeans I think I was born in. Taken me all those years to realise ,but jeans are about the worst to wear when its cold and damp. The wife picks the cords up in Brown because I'm always grovelling around in dirt building, crawling, just doing stuff at ground level..A nice "Golfie Pink" pair just wouldn't last 5 minutes with me. I'm like a 7-year old in a muddy puddle !
Anglers generally set out with a target species in mind but of course there is no guarantee you will catch the species you are after. I was hoping for a Cod off the beach so I could eat it but I got Conger instead .Just the way it goes. Cod are good to eat,Conger are not. You can set out trying to get a shark but something else happens along. A Tope for instance. I have been fishing for Blue shark and actually had a Bass about 8lbs take a shark bait and heavy steel trace. Many anglers target an individual species for whatever reason, fighting or eating qualities,it is their favourite..I personally fish for anything. Hope that helps.
I think it must have been. If you look at one of the Conger I was holding there is a definate "V" bite mark on its side. I only spotted it while I was editing the film.Must have been attacked at some stage by another Conger.
@@Fishingbug Shoreham. Taking my mate out he's never been. Got all the gear but no idea us 2 really so going to scratch around. Know any baitshops around there?
Think you might get more bites at night. My last 3 shore trips gave nothing in daylight, they all came at dusk onwards. Would suggest small hooks/small baits if you just want to catch something.
Would love a chesil beach sesh. Shame it's like a billion miles away from me, it would be refreshing fishing from a nice pebble beach instead of precarious deadly rocks and cliffs
I chose that spot because nobody else seemed to want it !..suited me fine...I don't think there were any features, but then I don't live there I'm more than 2 hours away. I guess the locals know the features,or maybe rougher ground.
This was one of my regular haunts before I became disabled. Great to see you down on the pebbles again Graeme, another fantastic video. Tight lines .

I think November and December are considered the main Conger times at Chesil and generally around the coastline.
Neap tide?
You're awesome!
Let's go
First view of this channel, SUSCRIBED. The eel comment might have done it!
So true about the price of those worms! Same here in Mass/Rhode Island.
What part of chiswell are you
I reckon another eel bit that whiting while the smaller eel went for the second bait hook
get some lug Graham !!!!
They had none in when I went.
very kool music
Next time you are down there give me a shout I’d love to meet up and give me a few pointers ...... love ya channel man✌🏻
Hi Graeme why do you target sharks and eels? When you dont eat them please explain Cheers Adam
A reckon that was a bigger conger that took a chunk of that whiting
I think it must have been. If you look at one of the Conger I was holding there is a definate "V" bite mark on its side. I only spotted it while I was editing the film.Must have been attacked at some stage by another Conger.
@@TAFishing Yes definately, the mouth was the first thing i looked at and it looked too small to cause that damage..bigger Conger lurking .
Going fishing tomorrow on the beach. West Sussex. What do you reckon my best chances are, Graeme?
Where abouts I'm out tomoz 👍
@@Fishingbug Shoreham. Taking my mate out he's never been. Got all the gear but no idea us 2 really so going to scratch around. Know any baitshops around there?
Think you might get more bites at night. My last 3 shore trips gave nothing in daylight, they all came at dusk onwards. Would suggest small hooks/small baits if you just want to catch something.
@@TAFishing cheers. Going for about 7pm and going to see what I can find
@@TAFishing going to try those blood loop paternoster rigs you tied up. I like how they stay straight from the line
Would love a chesil beach sesh.
Shame it's like a billion miles away from me, it would be refreshing fishing from a nice pebble beach instead of precarious deadly rocks and cliffs
I'm the opposite. It's all pebbles round here. I'd love to get out on the rocks and do some float fishing!
I want to see more float fishing
The float ain't biting this time of year.
Float is horrible in winter
Why did you choose that particular spot on the beach ?????
Are there any features to look for when choosing a spot???
I chose that spot because nobody else seemed to want it !..suited me fine...I don't think there were any features, but then I don't live there I'm more than 2 hours away. I guess the locals know the features,or maybe rougher ground.
TA Fishing is there any advice you could pass on about picking a location on what seems to be a featureless beach ???
Can you eat conger that size
