  • This is the 3rd of our video casts of discussion with former Four Season Lee Shapiro and a team of long term fans. This time we start to cover the research for the forthcoming Snapper Box Set and cover the stories around the Vee-Jay-Jay contract and the singles and albums recorded there, including the groups first 3 Nr 1 Hits.

I will begin by thanking Ken Charmer and everyone else involved is this session of Seasons on Saturday, another great and informative show. Ken, any music entity would be blessed to have your passion and appreciation for their work, as I am so glad you are a fan of the Four Seasons, my favorite all time number one ☝️ Band. Lee Shapiro is extremely critical, which I can appreciate and understand due to his vast musical knowledge and the music business. I just purchased his piano tribute to Frankie Valli on CD and it is absolutely Great!!!! Regarding the Street Fighter and Hope and Glory Albums, I played them day and night when released and still listen to them to this day, great music. As far as the comment regarding Bob Gaudio and how he can benefit before releasing anything, I believe its more of not wanting to release anything that he may feel embarrassed of, due to being very critical of himself. I have a recording of Gaudio and Valli being interviewed back in 2005/2006 the day before Jersey Boys premiered in San Francisco, with a radio DJ playing old recordings of them before they became the Four Seasons and he is very embarrassed by them. If I were Gaudiio I’d own up to everyone of them since an artist has to start somewhere, while even being embarrassed at times in other interviews when Shorts Shorts is brought up. Thanks for the show and really appreciate your work Mr. Ken Charmer and those involved.

I'm so sorry I wasn't able to watch live! Re: Sherry - I just heard a song that nearly lifted me off the ground. "Up" music, to me.
I see their version of "Ain't That A Shame" as the one that was their downfall, chart-wise. But being a rapt fan by then, I bought it, and everything else they released. I wasn't even aware of "That's The Only Way" until much later.
Late to the party, I'm still loving this.

Charlie Calello! Yes! Once I heard "The Name Game" and read the label, I scanned labels in the record shops to find his name.

Loving that tirade about "Streetfighter", and mostly agreeing with him. BUT... did all of that keep me from listening? You know the answer. "What About Tomorrow" is still a fave. Their version of "Book of Love"? Come ON! Feh!

I was excited when "Streetfighter" came out, bought it, and was disappointed. Two songs were okay and that's a stretch.
