- After returning to Germany in EU4 and finally forming it after years, Tommy decides to come back to Japan and do the same.
After 4 years since the last time Tommy played one of his favorite nations in all of Paradox games, Tommy returns to Japan!
It's gonna be all about forming Japan and then messing around afterwards.
As TommyKay is an expert Japan player in HOI4, it's time to see how he does in Europa Universalis 4.

@@henrikfitch4017 i mean, sure, but then your character shouldn't live to 60 years old and diseases should be even more impactful. You can have a realistic game or a fun game. A character finder isn't gonna destroy the game's "reality". Im ok if people don't like the character finder, but complaining at "realism", it kinda dumb dumb, you know.

well he doesn't need them. It's a inland sea tile so galley's would be better.
Heavies are still better than Gallies ship-for-ship if not economically. As Japan it's going to be better to build for gallies early since you will be fighting in those in-land seas you are correct.
@@mees9704 Heavies are still fantastic for taking damage, its not economically efficient, but even having one or two heavies in a costal fleet can help you win fights, even though you will probably lose them

@@candiedcrusader7841 he's good with game mechanics but straight up is clueless about some things then calls chat stupid for suggesting he's doing something wrong. There was a period a while ago where he had a "strategy" in which he thought that if he changed the division icon of a tank to something like an infantry helmet the enemies wouldn't know it was a tank, until Dankus told him it just shows the default icon and he realised his mistake.

Needed a land holding next to Korea before invading Korea the -2 landing bonus is crippling. 100% a skill issue also he needed tech parity to not get crushed + better ideas than exploration for wars.
Just get a general with higher maneuvering skill than the korean general

that or bait the troops to the north with a 1k stack doing a landing while the rest of the army lands in the south, you can usually secure the province before they come back/get enough troops ashore that theyre afraid to attack

If Tommy is doing an EU4 binge. He should try the Third Odyssey mod. It allows you to play Byzantium but in the New World. Its a total Colonization game with ALOT of personalized monuments. It really feels like building a nation from the ground up.

the trick with the korea war is to have a big enough fleet to carry a 30 stack over. Otherwise they just stack wipe you.

I love the Eu4 content
I know it is a meme at the end, but it literally is a skill issue and a lack of understanding of how tech, transportation, military stats, and tactics work in EU4.
How would you invade Korea?
well, I would probably declare the war when he did because the massive navy can hold by sheer numbers. then i would wait until I at least had the same units as Korea (so catch up a bit in mil tech), and if possible I would walk in from the north by landing in one of the northern neutrals. Of course, if I have to take over for tommy in this position my nation is in a horrendously unprepared state and that i cant do much about right now. give me 20 years though and we should have caught up with the rest of the world (except maybe western Europe) in terms of tech and our army should be both larger and of higher quality (ideas) @@danabendu7294

I mean when you invade Korea you can go through Sakhalin and invade through land also Mercenary's=noobs is a crazy take.
Mercenaries are the key to show if you know how to play the game, how and when use them. When you doesnt use mercenaries you are not showing you are good at the game, you're showing you doesnt know the best mechanics to grow

@@RandomAutist because japan is not so great. Maybe in mp it's ok. In single. Please. You have austria who can overtake half of eu in 50 years. we have ottomans, russia france who can expand realy fast. For japan you need to spend at least 10 years to put country together and start normal wars.

Tommy I have played 400 hours EU4 (which is not that much) and I feel your frustration, try to use mercenaries, play strong nations first (brandernburg, österreich, France, Spain) and having wins on those, then try Japan, Japan is a difficult nation on my point of view. But for now #TOMMYTHEQUITTER.
Japan has a small window to get Korea after which you have to wait ages. That speed is too much for me.
I agree, he should play England, don’t need to fight france, it’s easy to unite the isles, and your home trade node gives huge ducats even if you don’t build up the node

@@johnnotrealname8168 man that's wild, if I'm honest I'm trying to play all countries (like a to z of redhawk) and japanese countries are the most difficult for the unification, alliances, Korean war, shogunate mechanics.... I really hate those hahahaha
