20 bucks on their site vs 20 Cents for rubberbands. I've been doing this for a while, they just have a 3d Printer
That light is a cool idea made some of my jobs so much quicker and saved so much money on less powder waste thanks bud
I use a head light now but I will give that try ! the head light I started using 10 years ago so this may be a game changer !!
I remember your earlier videos were used to flashlight to inspect and thought that was a good idea never thought to strap it to the gun thanks for the info
That is so ingenious. I’m going to run to menards and get the same lights for my Eastwood PCs-1000 and my Eastwood dual voltage. Thank you.
Also, congratulations on your powder coating shop getting better and better
Yep, I know how I’m shooting my next set of wheels! Can’t believe I’ve never done that lol
Nice idea, I will try that!
Great idea. Thanks
OMG... I'm doing this ASAP!!! That is a brilliant idea 👏 bravo
Now there are tons of people selling them so if you can make one, or use rubber bands they are avail.
Looking forward to my Corona Ring man. As for the light holder, I use a head lamp. It's bright as hell and is out of the way. This looks like a great idea though.
Try the light bar it’s a wider view. It works great for me.
THANK you for sharing.
Great idea!!
❤ good job bro!
Hello, Mr.Right now, my name is Annie, it is an honor to watch your video of powder coating on UA-cam, I am from China, we are one of the manufacturers in Asia that produces and develops electrostatic powder coating equipment, I also know about powder Experts in the field, hope we can cooperate! Looking forward to your reply.
Two other tips. (a) A good high output headlamp also does the same thing (b) They make much better full spectrum lights for HVLP spray guns (Lumina III makes a professional quality one). The cheap flashlights put out a lot of blue light,
Hack ya keep going I just started powder coating not like painting for me anyways
Ill try this for sure😉🤙🏾😎👏🏾
Been watching your videos and really appreciate the info.
What I haven't been able to find is videos of the behind the scenes stuff.
Behind the scenes? Like what?
@@RightNowPowderCoating things like booth cleaning.. filter life. Maybe stuff the common terms like partial cure meaning. Just the stuff most that seems common sense to someone that already knows.
Try turning your paint booth lights out. You can see even better. When I'm powder coating car frames I lay under it on a creeper with the booth lights out and a streamlight microstream rechargeable light taped to it.
i have almost the same...mine is a removable bike light and the clip that I push on to my nozzle is also from a bike light. i prefer my light under my nozzle than on top, like a gun light. and it helps if I miss it with my Pezle headlamp..
I'm in the market now for a Gema, Wagner or Nordson....not sure witch is best..
great idea about the 3D printing tho..
Yep I use a nordson powder it has a built in light I really love it. My lighting in my booth is good but still get shadow but the light helps I was tapping lights to my gema before I knew it was a thing lol. Love the video brother
All guns should have that, I assume it runs of the unit, as in no batteries?
@@RightNowPowderCoating it does both has batteries for when your off the trigger and it stays for about 10 or 15seconds
Thats the only thing nordson has over gema is the built in light
Flashlights do work, I now take pictures with a flash of the Faraday areas , light spots show up clear as day
Try turning the lights almost off. The base metal will be bright in a dark environment
Hi Dan thanks again for your video's. Off topic, is it safe to say when you put parts in the oven the oven drops 10 to 15 degrees once the oven gets back to temp start your timer for 12 min.
or what ever time is on that particular powder. On pipe and thinner parts.
Do you mind showing us how to fill/fix really deep curb rash/scratches in metal objects ? I've read up about Lab metal and there's mixed reviews about it
You may have covered this in a prior video, but if I may ask where your blast room/booth is from? Is it purchased or a custom build? Great flashlight idea too!
Hi thanks for bringing the enthusiasm for this topic!! I live in a place where the majority if not all powder coaters paint industrial componants ..I have a bike frame and i am concerned about getting a good job done ..So my question is what is the best media to clean my steel frame (strip it ) to prevent damage is it best to sand blast it so as to leave a rough texture for paint to stick to ? secondly what if anything can i do myself to help prep the frame for a better job? lastly what should i look for when looking for powder coaters both befor and after the job is done..thanks like the content ..
Hey Steve, what frame is it? Motorcycle or bicycle. Steel or aluminium?
Best media to strip is a chemical strip, blasting is really a form of surface treatment in preparation for coating. Best way to find a good coated? Ask questions… how will they mask threads, bearing ports etc… if they give a Gallic shrug, walk away! Also price, we’re in a world where you get what you pay for. But, some job coaters might price high because they don’t want the hassle of coating a frame.
NEED!
Hey Dan can you do one for a 38mm colo gun
Could you make a Corona ring for nordson surecoat
Flashlight mount built in the Corona ring?
Do you make one that fits a pen light?
I use my iPhone light works great
I use my phone too but dang get powder in the ports and it's over....
So are used gema / Wanger systems out there? I can’t seem to find any for sale..
Do you use any software to keep track of your orders?
nice
Whats up man, been powder coating for about three months now, sill new to it but def catching on, have you done any two tone projects, can you do a video if so I. Def going to buy one once you get it going.
There are a few old ones on here but we are currently shooting a 2 tone, three stage video so keep posted
What are your reviews about sames Kremlin powdercoat spray gun..?
I have a powdercoating business and 3d printing business also. If you need someone to print these for you, hit me up. I have 32 printers. I actually last week came up with exactly the same idea, but just used masking tape to hold mine to gun until I get time to get on CAD to design the clip.
The original took about 5 mins, but I've spend countless hours getting just the right fit
Brosky fix it on there with a worm screw if it slides much.
Scott coats check his Esty page out he actually 3-D printed a double light holder for your gema gun that’s a game changer and A vacuum set up with a light attached to it and different tips for finer detail it is truly amazing
Yes, his product came out shortly after this video.......a better wheel situation.
Hey I love your channel! I had a question. I have been using the Eastwood dual voltage gun for awhile and I’ve just upgraded to the kool koat 2.0. I have driven a 3/4” grounding rod into the floor with a 6 gauge wire. Columbia coatings recommended I use the provided small grounding wire. I was wondering if I use both or if I don’t hook up the provided one and just use the grounding rod? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
You need to ground the gun to the rod and the part to the rod. Grounding wires on the gun really dont help you ground the part. Eastwoods does a bit but if you have a rod you dont even need the eastwood grounding rod.
@@RightNowPowderCoating thanks!
How does the additional weight on the tip of the gun with the flash light affect the ergonomics and general use
Um.....I guess I didn't notice it much. May be because I'm obsessed with it....time will tell.
How do I get one?
It's ironic that as soon as you made this video, people who make these mounts started popping up everywhere. I used the light today and got really dependent on it. It gave me a false sense of security that led to rejects. Lesson learned is you can add to your process but don't take away what works.
Yeah, it is kind of funny haha, typical. Everyone chasing the dollar! No worries on my end, I like to help people but Im so busy making a part and selling it for 10 bucks is not going to change my life.
How do you build up mil thickness effectively?
multiple passes typically or slow down on the passes.
been doing this for years now. really helps a lot but you need to move the light back to your hanger on top of the gun.
how do you still like greensolv?
Why? Its great so far, no issues!
@@RightNowPowderCoating i just find i have a wider view from that area with an LED light. I have an adjustable light that goes from spot to flood mounted. Im about to switch to a heated stripper and was wondering how it has been. How much sludge is in the tank? Is it working in same amount of time? How much has it evaporated?
also forgot to say you will fill the light with powder eventually being that close to the electrode. light being farther away helps to keep the lense on the light clean
@@TheBoostnm3 if so, literally just grab the air gun a blow it out.
Dan, crazy question. what are my odds of success with using the dual-voltage Eastwood gun in order to achieve a 3-tone finish on my 19" 15-spoke Infiniti rims, in which the first tone needs 2 powders, the second and third tones need 1 powder each and then a clear coat needed on top. Which would = 5 powders total and 6 if I applied primer on the whole wheel before beginning. Would the gun be able to do it? Personal project, not my line of work. but i want to pay to have my rims sand blasted so i can bring them to my dads shop and do a custom specialty 3 tone finish. Your input is appreciated. Just FYI, the three tones do not overlap, they cover separate parts of the rim, separated by edges. And i would plan to do them exactly as you have shown with the tiny vacuum attachment in your couple "2-tone" videos. P.S. I would LOVE if you did a long-form video DEDICATED to everything you need to know about 3-tone or 4-tone powder projects, as well as go into detail about what to know if the separate tones require 2 powders per tone (like ILLUSION series). Even crazier, if you were to do a 3-tone finish in which all three tones required 2 powders per tone. Before even accounting for the clear coat, making for 7 total powders and even 8 if primered too! Need answers!!!😁 thank you Dan.
That's gonna be tough....really tough. If you clean the wheel and not let the layers build up between each coat it may work, but even a color then clear on wheels would be hard with that gun.
@@RightNowPowderCoating damn that surely is a bit worrying but I still have determination. I certainly will be cleaning the wheel between coats in order to prevent the layers from building up and preventing unnecessary layers from being cured underneath the color of the separate tones. But is there anything else I could probably do to promote the adhesion of the powder after each of these coats? Do you believe I should Scuf or use abrasion on some of the powders between the coats?
Curious, whats your go to gloss black? APC, IFS?
Ifs
Same… IFS
how's it work with corona ring?
good question....you would need to put that on first, but would pull a lot of powder to the light. Dang it now I need to build a corona ring with it build in.....darn you.
@@RightNowPowderCoating do I get to trade mine in?lol
Reg light....or LED?
led
@@RightNowPowderCoating Thank you!
Thanks for watching. You can order the 40mm attachment by emailing me at Dan@rightnowpowdercoating.com. Fits a 25mill flash light housing. Is semi flexible.
Great idea, cheap flashlight in explosive enviroment, don’t sell it bro, you’ll get in trouble for this
How is a battery flashlight any more dangerous than insulated hooks sparking?
Hey my ? Has nothing to do with the video. Could you do a video on you oven setup design etc.
