Later on, he settled into a much stable, consistent and a world class legendary opener.

Kumble was Fielding there and it seemed that time had stopped.Srinath had his arms high in air pleading to Kumble not to drop it, so was I, so was rest of India. What a moment.......If Kumble had dropped it and Saeed had stayed 10 more overs the match would have been over. It would have been an innings like Sachin played in 2003 WC where Razzaq dropped him off Akram at mid-off......great times, great cricket

when ever I watch old matches highlights I get back to the old days memories...What was that era...in very early young age we used to watch all teams match apart from India matches... at a time it was obsessed me of cricket from 1997 to 2003.
Quite possibly the most elegant of all the attacking batsmen the world has seen ever, certainly the most elegant of ALL the batsmen emerged from Pakistan to this day. Saeed Anwar batting at his best had been a sight to behold. In terms of batting, he had loads of talent, could bisect even the tiniest gap in the field quite effortlessly against ANY bowler. Despite being prolific even in Test Cricket, he never quite had the hunger/temperament to make his innings/hundreds really big (i.e. 200+), otherwise he could have challenged or even surpassed Lara in terms of sheer all-round ability/skill/talent as a batsman. BTW, I'm from Sri Lanka ....
Even Sachin has also not had hunger to make 100’s into big hundreds as Lara. I would say that Anwar is extremely talented but he has certainly under achieved in test. Lara under achieved in ODI. Although Sachin has great record in both test and odi than other two, I pick Lara as the best batsmen for some of the important criteria’s then Sachin then Anwar. I am an Indian.

The size of the boundaries those days were huge. The bats were not of high quality as compared to today. It required special talent like Anwar, Tendulkar or lara to play shots. Pick the ball early and hit hard. Now a days bcoz of good bats smaller boundaries every one scores quickly with lesser effort. They are no where near to this kind of talent.

Qasim Omar and Asif Mujtaba was also wasted by that Analysts..Qasim and Mujtba was much much better then Ijaz and Aamir Sohail...

Worst? Faizal Mahmood, Haneef Mohammed, Miandad, Zaheer Abbas Anwar, Inzi, Younis, Yousuf, Misbah. Just to name a few legends. Batsmen aren't that rare, it is the era we live in where the batting order is a struggle for Pakistan. But right now Pakistan is going good with Fakhar, Baber etc.

Quite possibly the most elegant of all the attacking batsmen the world has seen ever, certainly the most elegant of ALL the batsmen emerged from Pakistan to this day. Saeed Anwar batting at his best had been a sight to behold. In terms of batting, he had loads of talent, could bisect even the tiniest gap in the field quite effortlessly against ANY bowler. Despite being prolific even in Test Cricket, he never quite had the hunger/temperament to make his innings/hundreds really big (i.e. 200+), otherwise he could have challenged or even surpassed Lara in terms of sheer all-round ability/skill/talent as a batsman. BTW, I'm from Sri Lanka ....
Even Sachin has also not had hunger to make 100’s into big hundreds as Lara. I would say that Anwar is extremely talented but he has certainly under achieved in test. Lara under achieved in ODI. Although Sachin has great record in both test and odi than other two, I pick Lara as the best batsmen for some of the important criteria’s then Sachin then Anwar. I am an Indian.

The size of the boundaries those days were huge. The bats were not of high quality as compared to today. It required special talent like Anwar, Tendulkar or lara to play shots. Pick the ball early and hit hard. Now a days bcoz of good bats smaller boundaries every one scores quickly with lesser effort. They are no where near to this kind of talent.
