    What an AWESOME vid! Tons of knowledge to absorber! I'm using the AC Infinity Controller 69 in my 4x4SO far it's been a great help in monitoring and maintaining my VPD

    VPD is the same” physics principle” that the Cannatrol engages in creating the perfectly controlled dry and cure environment.

    I find I need to compromise in the winter. In order to get the heat in the tent I have to cut down on the fan speed to raise the temps. Which in turn raises the RO and drops my VPD, so I get the rust spots. By mid veg and more PPFD it sorts itself out again. In flower with a PPFD of 800+ i'm at 82f running a DIY Co2 system at 1000PPM. In veg I run it at 200PPM above my PPFD..

    I think its the new grow lights too. My blurple light i only had to water 5 mil cal mag per watering. I got the newer bar style lights and sometimes i have to go 9-10 ml week 2 flower. Same environment in my basement

    I use the VPD on my ACI controller for my drying guide. If i can get the perfect 60ro and 62f then thats a vpd of .77 . But if the temps rise due to local heatwave, I raise the humidity to keep the .77 vpd. last year it was 90f outside and 75 in the dry tent, so I raised the humidity to 70, which reduced the temp to 70f and gave a vpd of .77. turned out a nice 10 day dry and a really nice smoke. Just had to keep good airflow and all was well. Likewise. if you have a cold dry room then 55ro - 55f will also give a vpd of around .77.

      I run a vpd of 1.0 when drying.. 68 degrees 58% humidity. At 2 weeks it's still doesn't stem snap... do you have the fans directly blowing on drying materials. I only had them blowing against tent wall. I just adjusted so they actually hit drying plants... I'm trying to learn any feedback appreciated

      @@Mike-ye8qv Fan on the floor on low blowing at the wall to defuse. Thats odd it's still not dry with such high temp and low RO. My buddy gets similar figures to that and his dries in 6/7 days max.

      @UbiquitousRomp I use vivosun 6 inch oscillating fans on lowest settings. I wonder if it's just not enough cfms. I also exhaust out air of tent. I'm hoping I moved fans pointing directly at them 2 days a go. Still going nice and slow... I had a problem with bud rot and in trying to get it all figured out.. big thanks for replying

      @@Mike-ye8qv I would suggest you use another Temp and RO meter to double check. I have also found that sometimes having the extraction fan on to much, can pull the damp air in. Have you got an app, to see whats happening over time or in real time when not in the space and things level off.

      @UbiquitousRomp yep, I got the ac infinity controller/sensor. My air outside the tent is 55% at the most normally lower. I have a humidifier in the tent but I have the mist going right in front of a 6 inch oscillating fan. I have 2 fans in there 1 on the plants and 1 to quickly distribute the mist from humidifier... I agree I need a second sensor to double check

    awesome info, really got me thinking i might have dropped my temps too early causing yellowing and purple fans and burnt tips around end of week 4. was hitting 65 at night 75 during the day at about 40% humidity and i knew it wasnt deficient in the soil. was assuming my microbiology couldnt keep up.

    How did everyone still get great results prior to this VPD B.S? All that matters is temp and humidity and good air flow and exchange.
    VPD is B.S used to sell Cal Mag and other crap that you do not need.. PS: Never add extra Calcium and Magnesium unless you know 100% that you have a Cal Mag deficiency.

    I'm sorry one more thing. If you look at the vpd charts you should have your humidity at 70% or higher. Nobody runs humidity that high and I have never heard anyone say to keep your humidity at 70% with 60% being the highest I have heard recommended. We all want to avoid mold so a 80-85° with a 74% humidity that is mold city yet the range in terms of VPD you want to be in until late veg. According to the charts you shouldn't be at a 60% humidity unless your temps are around 60-65°!! I'm sorry but none of us are rocking 60-65° and most leds bring temps into the mid to high 70's plus.

    • @UbiquitousRomp
      @UbiquitousRomp Рік тому +2

      When I'm at 80f + I can run my humidity upto 75% OK as it gives a VPD of around .80 which is spot on for veg. with good air movement and airflow.

    Is VPD important during the night cycle?

    • @ThaZEman
      @ThaZEman Рік тому

      Yes! just as important. you need lower humidity when lights off

    • @UbiquitousRomp
      @UbiquitousRomp Рік тому +1

      VPD is about the plants transpiration rate, which isn't happening in the dark to the same degree and no photosynthesis is taking place. But you don't want your plants in a damp space, so you need to compensate for the humidity spike you get when the temps drop at lights out with a heater or a dehumidifier. But many do manage without with good air movement and airflow

    I'm a new grower and on my 3rd grow. Both grows so far (I grow autos) I have gotten what I thought was severe calcium issues. Redish brown spots all over the new leaves at the top and all over the plant. Red stems, small leaves and overall week 3-4 all hell breaks loose. I thought it had to be ph but I ph to 6.5 (in coco w/gia green organic) and use phosphoric acid to ph down the water naturally. After seeing some stuff lately I'm thinking now it could be VPD/Light height? I have been keeping my lights between 12-18" which I think in the confined space of a 2x2 tent is about as high as you can go. Anyone thinking 2x2 tent don't! Spider Farmer especially. The 2x2 spider farmer setup comes with a light you CAN'T DIM and the tent so short you will never have the room to raise the light high enough. Love ya spider farmer but c'mon man. You know that design/setup is trash!

    • @UbiquitousRomp
      @UbiquitousRomp Рік тому +1

      The brown spots could be rust from to low a VPD. So to much moister in the air and not enough airflow., this means you plant arn't transpiring enough, so the plant aren't processing the nutes, hense the dark leaves and red stems.
      Running the lower PPFD in early veg isnlt giving you the heat you need to obtain the VPD range required. This will be easier to achieve in summer with higher ambulant tempts.
      Seedling first 10 days at 200 ppfd and vpd very low .40- .80 Temp as high as you can get in winter but 68-75 is ok. I need a small pipe heater in winter at this stage.
      10 - 20 days 300 ppfd ...VPD of .80 ish This is where a heater may help in winter
      20 - 30 I'm up to 400- 500 by then and getting more heat, so the VPD of .80 - 10 isn't to hard to acheive.
      So by the start of flower you can be upto to 600 PPFD and you want vpd of +1.0. Don't know how much power you have ,. but if you can get it up to 750 ish and a VPD of 1.4 through flower. then it's all good.
      I have done grows that havn't seen the up side of vpd 1.0. But I added extra fans on the floor to blow the air though the plant. It's better to underfeed in that situation with less strength nutes. And work up. it's a easier fix, than over feeding.
      Do you have alight meter app?

      2x2 tent you need a 250W HPS and a GT205 NFT Grow Tank System. Easy to get a gram per watt or more with that system.
      You will only need to Veg for half as long in NFT which saves on the Electricity. It's more efficient than LED is for that reason.
