Use the Index Summary Calculation in a PivotTable

- Want to know how the Dow Jones Index or S&P 500 Index works? You came to the right video! Okay I won't really show you how to do the calculations, but I'll show you how to do an index summary calculation in a Pivot Table that takes on the similar concepts. It uses an aggregated weighted average to reveal the impact of one number within the context of a data set. To really understand this, check out the video.

Still not sure what it's supposed to do ( sorry) made a two column table; items, unit,
pivot table sum units count items, set both to index everything = 1 ?
Learned something new today. Never too late. Thanks. However I have a PIVOT table where grand row total did not appear. So I added a calculated field for Row total. However the INDEX function does not make the calculation. It shows one while when I make copy paste and do the INDEX calculation by means of the formula it shows the Index result. Any thoughts on this?
Pivot table should have the option to put the grand total under tab Desgin>Layout.
@@DougHExcel I am mixing up things, my apologies. So I added a calculated field with totals in a right column.... Do you have a tutorial video with a more basic example? I don't get it why it doesn't work...

I still don't know what it's supposed to do, I tried a few things and they all cam back as 1?
