I own this watch for over 5 months now, and this is the only alpinist that still has no scratches on the bracelet or the case (i have 2 other alpinist with uncoated stainless steel).
It still looks brand new while the other ones have visible traces of wear.
That's pretty impressive tbh, because I'm not very much careful with it.
It's pretty robust, good job Seiko
(Also it's my most accurate 6r35 out of the box, even if that's not that hard😂 -1/+5s with a 0,4 beat error, pretty decent for this movement)
I own a SLA053 (black MM300) the black holds up incredibly well, and hides a ton of wear. I wear it a lot and it looks brand new.
DLC is Diamond Like Carbon, I’ve got it on the blade of my Spyderco Para 3 folding knife, it’s extremely hard wearing, the knife has heavy use at my allotment for about 3 years and not a single scratch or nick on it so I’d definitely 100% have it on a watch 👍🏻
I like that bracelet. Got it to fit well for everyday use and after months being on my wrist practically everyday it still looks very nice, as does the watch itself. Just wipe it clean from dust and grime it accumulates at my work and it's ready to go for a suit and tie event in the evening.
Awesome👏🏻😎🤩Alpinist Dude!
I had issues putting the spring bars for my bracelet with solid ends and the hardened spring bar dented but did not scratch the coating. And my 6r35 is +2 seconds a day
I like the looks
Its nice but i still prefer my samurai black series and i am thinking of adding an alpinist to the collection just not this one. The spb197..
I agree with your thoughts. If I had this watch I'd switch to a green or teal leather strap and ditch the bracelet. Its a bit pricey for me so I'm looking out on the 2nd hand market for one 🙏
I actually own this watch and chanced upon it when they just released it on day 1 back in Feb 2023. Pulled the trigger and I've been quite happy 5 months down the line. I can understand why most alpinist fans won't fancy this particular variant, but I like how this watch's character and the way it looks like its always iluminating.
Been using it almost every day when I can and I'd say the black pvc coating or whatever its called is intact. I only take it off before doing rigorous activity like indoors climbing but aside from that its been quite intact after casual bumps.
I'm having a hard time picking out a good nato strap for it. I'd figure getting an all black strap would be too boring but i'm not sure which color contrast strap I should go for instead. Can anyone make a recommendation?
note: the 6R35 movement is a pretty good movement with great power reserve. But Seiko is not well known for regulating their movements, which is why we get a huge variance of -15 to +20 secs a day. I took it to a local watchmaker to get it regulated, and its been doing "average" of +0.2 secs a day now for almost a month.
The movement is a no go. I can't keep on adjusting the time. They could have sold out, with a better movement.
@@rickjason215 yeah i agree. I was saying it has potential (because i got mine regulated) but getting up to 20 secs delta per day out of the box isn’t great
👍
❤❤❤
I wish one day Seiko makes the alpinist with 8L movement
There is a 6 "L" alpinist which is miles ahead of the 6R alpinist.
@@EscapementWatch yes and thinner.
But I want a more reliable movement like 8L
@@watchouch The 6L is as reliable as the 8L as far as I'm aware, it is based on it.
@@JohnDoe-kh3ti seiko did put 6L and 8L on the same category, but 8L is based off from 9s movement of Gs. 6L is an upgrade from 6R with better accuracy and thinner case. And 6L and 8L aren't related
This is a thicccc boiiii
I know those who love the “old school” look will be happy. I never liked it. I have a diver coated like this one, and it holds up very well. But on a rubber strap… I do not like the bracelet. Anyways…they only need to sell 5k so Seiko will be fine. But it’s NOT worth $900 USD!!!
Thanks for sharing!
Let down by that crap 6R35 joke of a movement
Don't like the cyclops!
oddly it grows on you hahaha. hated it at first
Nope 😂
