You show us so much of your life and this is beneficial to me. Being alone now, as my wife of 54 years passed away, you have provided such a great calming and warm presentation as a gracious hostess and guide. Thank you for taking the time to share with so many of us, that do not travel far from our place...You've opened a window to the east that was so unfamiliar and unknown in years past..You are beautiful and have such a good loving spirit for other people...Thank you for your vlogs..Spaceba?? @@g.s.632 Now I’m Texas the daytime temperatures have reached 105F and rain has been non-existent for a whole month. Why don’t creative people over there develop an experience called The Great Northern Russian adventure? Tourists from here would love to be able to say “I was in an area known for its frigid winters. “ The Creators would supply the clothing and equipment to the tourists or they could rent or purchase their own. Of course this would be feasible after peace comes again and all of our people get together again..❤️❤️🙏

Dear Eli, Your Niece and Nephew are two of the cutest children that I have seen. Perm looks like a place that I would really like to see. I don't care what season it is, but I think that I would like to see it in the winter. Being a U.S. citizen that was born and raised in Europe, the winter time near Christmas has always been a magical time for me. God bless you and your family.

As a Canadian, I'm so impressed how your city has embraced winter like many cities do here as well. The opera house looked so lovely in the snow and is such a beautiful building, and that ice sculpture was incredible! Your niece and nephew are fortunate to have you as their aunt. So great you are teaching your niece English! Let's hope she can pick up the language and eventually use it to her advantage some day.

I know that Russia is extremely rich in culture and that they also want to protect it. They're right! Here everything breaks down and ours is increasingly oppressed. My respect for the Russians! The nice thing about your videos is the way you present them. The performances are light, funny and you have a great knowledge of many things. I regularly watch your vlogs and really appreciate them. I think your family is a beautiful family, lovely children and your niece, or whatever she is, a typical babouchka. I have the impression that she has a warm personality and a very sociable person. Thanks for this vlog, Elly.

Having had the great fortune to visit Russia, I can honestly say that Eli's videos understate what a beautiful country it is, and how lovely most people are; however, for me the first problem with going there is the visa. . . . . Then, after getting through the border, spending a whole day in a soviet era office with all sorts of problems and questions from officials to get my visa and passport registered each time, then when finally leaving the country, the long interrogation about exactly where I have been, what I have done, and what I spent all my money on. So, I will have to content myself with Eli's videos.

But no offense . Russia was subjected to large terrorist attacks in the 90s and early 00s (when houses, planes, bazaars, etc. were blown up, hospitals, schools, theaters were attacked), therefore foreigners are subjected to strict checks, since Russia does not want a repeat.

I have been to Murmansk, Norilsk, Tomsk and many other cities but never to Perm. I love opera and have always wanted to see an opera at the Opera and Ballet Theatre. I would absolutely love to visit Perm someday, especially in winter time! I live in Worcester, Massachusetts in the Northeast of the United States and right now, even as I type, we are experiencing a BLIZZARD. We might get over 12 inches of snow today! But I like to visit snowy places that actually know how to clear their streets and also know how to enjoy the weather instead of just complaining about it. (Worcester is a complainer place). Please keep making your videos! I love your perspective and outlook on things! Hi Eli, just wanted to make a general comment having watched several of your videos. You're exceptionally talented and I admire your love of your country. It's most interesting to learn from someone who is not a stereotypical, blonde-haired and blue-eyed Slav but represents another nationality in the RF. Our countries are at loggerheads at the moment, but I hope we can all find our way to better days. Greetings from Boston. Where do you get such stereotypes about Slavs? Who teaches you such nonsense? This is racism in its purest form! In Russia, for example, “blond-haired, blue-eyed” is not a sign of a Slav. Even stereotypically in Russia it is something Scandinavian, perhaps German. And Wikipedia says that the proportion of very light eyes and hair among Russian Slavs is low. Russian Slavs for the most part have transitional characteristics between northern and southern European types. And in some regions, southern European types have an advantage. Or are these fake Russians? The ethnogenesis of the Russian people, as the largest people in Europe, is very complex and diverse from the very beginning. And besides this, there are also South Slavic peoples, who, although not Russian, are also Slavs. And they are dark-eyed brunettes. Or are they not the right Slavs?

Ice sculptures like that, is one thing I'd like to see in person. To create something so elaborate only to realize that it will melt away as if it never existed is testament to humanity's desire to create more than destroy. Kind of existential, actually...

I like the sound of the squeaky ❄️ snow. I used to work in the field doing minerals exploration and squeaky snow meant that the snow wouldn’t be melting, which made my feet wet and was a miserable weather condition. 0 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit was a more comfortable working condition than 32 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. February in northern Nevada usually brought a warming wind that turned the ground into a thick mud. I live in Hawaii now and I miss cold weather. I’m in the minority that way.

Siberia and Northern Russia are kind of like Alaska in terms of geography and climate, except that the land area is many many times bigger than Alaska.

Depends what part of Alaska, Fairbanks maybe, but the southern parts are more maritime influenced.

@@Stephen-ob3ij Yep, Kamchatka peninsula in the far east has a very similar if not identical climate and geography to the Alaska peninsula. Meanwhile interior Alaska is closer to the Siberian mainland.

I’d definetely like to visit Perm! It seems a very nice city, big but not too hectic, the ice sculptures are great, you have a beautiful theatre, some lovely old buildings, the view from the Kama bank is impressive. P.S. I also like those rappers!

I really appreciate your sharing life in Russia with us. I had no idea yours was such an ethnically varied country and the vastness of Russia has been a revelation to me. You've given me a new perspective on what beauty is and I have to agree that there is beauty in all sorts of unexpected places if we are willing to open our eyes and appreciate it. Thank you so much, Eli.

Love your city, Eli. It's full of life; enchanting with exciting events. Something to enjoy both in and outdoors. Ice sculptures are extraordinarily creative for the eyes to enjoy and kids to enjoy. Well done on how well your surroundings are implemented to exhibit creativity about your region. Your niece is beautiful and adorable; love her red hair, and yours too, uniquely beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Keep at it. Stay safe and warm.👍👍🌼

New follower from Canada. I've watched a few episodes since Christmas and thought, I need to send you a compliment. This vlog was enchanting. You have a great channel, you are a very brilliant cultural journalist, with an eye for detail and beauty and hidden treasures ! The hidden treasure doll you leave at cafes is awesome, it almost makes me want to go to Russia to find such an authentic souvenir. Thank you for presenting your home and the North in such joyful elegance. You have a sweetness in your personality that is warm and sincere. Canadians love many of the same things as Ural Russians I think. The beauty of snow, skating, hockey Winter, The Nutcracker (which is only a tradition here around bigger cities like Toronto and Montreal). Canadian kids also LIVE for what we call "snow days". rarely close schools here for cold, but often for snow that blocks up streets and travel. Pine & spruce trees, warm woolly hats. And Maple syrup ! I don't see any Maple syrup in Russia, this surprises me. I wonder do you have few Maple trees or is it just you don't love maple syrup like us ? The Ice sculptures were beautiful and your niece and nephew are so cute they could have their own UA-cam channel ! Great channel, great vlog, great colorful personality and joyful family moments with your funny and fun niece and nephew who made me laugh . By the way, I was a very good hockey player and I started skating about the same age at 4 years old. I know good skaters and have coached hockey and trained athletes. Your niece and nephew are very strong skaters - if that was their first time on skates, they will be skating or hockey champions ! Very great natural skaters, so great to see their joy on ice with you. Thanks again from wintery Canada, I look forward to more of your great and fresh work !
