- Our standard welding cart just wasn't cutting it, so we did what every other red-blooded American (or Canadian, insert other countries) would do. We went to WalMart. We picked up a HART 36-inch toolbox to be the base for our new DIY Welding Cart. With tons of storage and plenty of real estate on the top, this HART toolbox is a great fit for a welding cart.
We used one 24-foot stick or 1"x2" 14ga rectangle tubing and 1 20-foot stick of 1/8" x 6" flat-bar. In addition to the toolbox, we also used a HART grinder that we picked up for $40 and our HART impact driver to build and assemble our DIY welding cart.
We stitched it together with our Miller Multimatic 220 AC/DC welder, using the MIG and TIG functions where it made sense. The price for the box was about $332 plus tax. The HART box supports more than 700 lbs in the six drawers and the casters support 1,200 pounds. HART also includes a 3-year warranty.

very nice design. Reduce the work and cost by using two 2x10s or 2x12s bolted below tool chest to stock caster attachment points. Extend 2xs beyond chest to form tank platforms...both ends for mig/tig/ and oxy-acet if desired. Attach stock casters to bottom of 2xs beneath tank platforms. Add hooks for cables/hoses; PVC pipe rod caddys; add Harbor Freight welding table top hinged to rear of cabinet with two front extending/folding support legs.
I love your idea. This seems very simple and effective.
Awesome design you knocked it out of the ball park love it
Thanks a bunch!
Excellent Job my friend nice work I just got a 220 and wanted a nice cart that was functional thanks for the video well done
Glad I could help. Thank you very much. You'll love the Miller 220...great machine. Let us know if you build one.
Great work on this cart !!
Thank you very much.

Thank you very much. It's works very well too. Thanks for watching.
@@Shoptoolreviews I have no doubt it does. Thanks for sharing the experience 👍
@ Shop Tools Review, that Cart turned out Awesome. I like the look of that Box. I think I'm gonna grab one, and build that Cart myself.
Phillip Chambers thank you. Absolutely, you can do it. You’ll love it.
I've got to do this for my Everlast welder. I really could use the storage space.
You should, it was a fun build.
That’s great!!!! Very nicely done bud!
Thank you kindly. I really appreciate that. Thanks for watching.
I like. Really clever.
That's a very cool idea for a welding cart, looks great and functions well. Another utube channel sells -hell hooks, a collar and j hook used as a hanger for your welding helmet. The hell hook sits on top of the threads of the argon cylinder. I made my own version a few days ago.
Any how-to/plans or guides for how you built it? Would love to see more details.
Very cool tool box welding cart, you have given me the inspiration to to mine. Thank you!! I just subscribed to your channel. I just got the same welder as you. I am very impressed with it.
Is it just me or did you gain 20k subscribers in the last 3 months?
I always thought you deserved more
Just bought the top and bottom tool box for $369. I think it is a great box at a great deal.
That's a great deal for a full tool box. Thanks for watching and sharing.
I really want one of these toolboxes now to build my own! Checked and Walmart is sold out of this model. :(
Man I really wish I found this before ordering my ZTFab kit for the US General box. Might get the Hart box and modify the ZTFab kit to it instead.
Wow, that's a great compliment. Thanks for watching and commenting.
How's this cart holding up after a year? I just picked up a hart box to convert to a cart .
Buen trabajo amigo. Tienes un tutorial Video?
Thanks for watching.
Impressive
Damn good job on the cart. Narrowing the casters placement would worry me though. I would be afraid of the cart tipping over on its face or back.
Thanks so much. Since the box is lowered, it really doesn't even act like it's top heavy.
Your cart turned out really nice!! Great job!
Thank you very much. We appreciate it. We love the cart.
I think Hart is a Wal-Mart brand, Wal-Hart... I have only seen them in Wal-Mart and NO WHERE ELSE...
I own a Harbor Freight heavy duty Welding cart. All I had to do, assemble it. I only paid $300.00 + tax.
Can't argue with that. hope it's holding up well for you. The difference is, this HART will offer much more storage. Thanks for watching.
What rhymes with Hart and cart, and eases your pain?
A singing Lark?! lol. Thanks for watching.
This is way better then those ZTfab kits!
Wow, that's an excellent compliment. Thank you so much. It was fun building this. Thanks again for watching and commenting.
