I always thought it would be Apple that would take on Oura but it turns out to be Samsung. Although I get a "Active lifetime membership" for being an early adopter of Oura, they blackmailed me into buying a new ring to get that "lifetime membership" (the 'Active' sounds like it might not actually last a lifetime) so I would welcome anything that hurts their greed moving to a subscription model. I like mine but can't recommend anyone pay monthly for it after forking out for the hardware. And if anyone from Oura is reading this: one shitty turn deserves another so there you go.
I can’t see Apple getting into the ring business, they would do better due to the stores being able to size and have stock, but they are committed to adding more sensors like blood pressure and Glucose
I'm team Garmin but like the samsung Health homecreen for things like tracking body composition. It would be great if S Health could read by Garmin training TRImp etc
Is there any advantage to having these sensors on a ring compared to a watch? For example, could it be technically easier to get better oxygen measurement with a ring compared to watch or the other way around? If there is no technical benefit that would enable better tracking for oxygen, heart rate or sleep, I guess any ring wouldn't be very interesting to someone like me who already has a watch doing these things.
if youre someone interested in only those specific features then a ring might with a week long battery might be more palatable than a watch that lasts a day or two
For me the only advantage was the sleep side and I wouldn’t wear a watch to sleep but could a ring. Ultimately I don’t wear my Oura any longer either though.
@@FrictionMr Why don't you wear a watch when sleeping, it bothers you? I never took even heavier watches of just for sleep and now I have a smaller very light Garmin that I barely even notice.
Yea thanks for the info ... and the last time i looked it said something like 60 to 80 million people going to buy this ring ... I want it ... I Want One As Well & Getting It ASAP !!!
I’m curious, did you do any testing on index finger vs ring or middle finger? (This ring or the oura or any other rings?) I was wondering if you did, if you discovered any variability. Thanks!
@Pragmatist101 I'm happy to pay more for something that lasts. But I'd rather have a subscription(IF the device is cheaper) for something with a relatively short lifespan. The batteries won't last very long before charge life will decrease dramatically. If batteries were easily replaced, I'd pay a premium for it
Any comments on this ring for use with apple iphone, Apple Watch, Apple AirPod systems? Maybe just get Samsung ring app and add to apple iphone screen and then have mostly all function but probably not to integrate at all to apple fitness and health apps?
Great review! Personally, I'm curious if the Ultrahuman Ring Air offers better features than this. It's also priced lower than the Samsung Galaxy Ring and is currently compatible with both iOS and Android, that too without any monthly subscription unlike the Samsung Galaxy Ring and Oura ring. Will you be doing a comparison?
thank you for the reminder to subscribe. guilty as charged lol I don't love sleeping in my Apple watch so I'm in the market for a ring, but don't wan that monthly fee with the Oura. I'm incredibly anti subscription.
@@jared17ds on days I want to wear a fancier watch for work, events, etc. I’d put on the ring. Also, may be a little more comfortable to sleep in a ring then switch back to my watch during the day.
God I wish Garmin would make a ring themselfs! I have been wearing Fenix watches for many years now, dont want to loose all the data, but I really want to switch to traditional watches...
if the battery is better than my galaxy watch I would totally buy (more than 1 day) I really like tracking my health with it but miss wearing my normal watches and the battery life is so annoying.
Hope it will be comparable with garmin or that garmin comes up with their own ring. Would be better to track your sleep that way then sleeping with the watch
Oh yeah, a ring by Garmin. 27 models: With Bluetooth but no hr With hr but only one size With Bluetooth and wifi but no sensors With sapphire but no battery With battery but just to use as a small light...
@@Dcrainmaker Maybe i misunderstood what we are talking about here, but it is physically impossible to have an ECG with a ring or watch because it needs to pass trough your heart to get a signal. If you had a contact point in both hands it could work, but not with a single ring or a single watch.
@@Amin_2kCorrect, you simply touch the ring with your other hands finger, completing the loop. Exact same concept as all the FDA certified smartwatches do it today.
100% not interested in a screw nut type of wearable. Not only it looks ugly and it is potentially obstructive in daily life (just look at the marks at Ray's ring), it leads to blisters during rowing sessions, hurts during chin-up training or when working at the rings.
Minus the intense battery degradation, I love my Oura ring. However, I also wear a whoop band mainly for the fact that it has an alarm that works in conjunction with the sleep tracking. If Samsung manages to pack a tiny vibration motor in there, I’m jumping ship. Likewise, if Whoop would just give us the option to track steps, I’ll just wear that. I don’t really care for the strain score as after 3 years of wearing it, I still have no idea what it means lol. I know my Apple Watch can do it all, but it’s big as hell to sleep with and I mostly wear mechanical watches when I’m not working out. I just want one of these companies to do sleep, alarm, and steps!
Oura might not exactly be looking forward trying to sling some legal hindrance towards Samsung in this product space, being so completely dwarfed as far as available resources are concerned.
i just bought my S24 ultra thru t mobile when they released the preorders and i never had any issues!! i can't wait to get one in gold,, but i would like to know what is the best finger to wear it on left hand or right hand!?
I feel like thevring is already made with a limited amount of features. They're likely already developing the next couple generations which will introduce more features such as contactless payment.
Interesting interpretation of that custom, however, it's much less cynical! Imagine it is my birthday and my neighbors are there. Whomever joins the party will congratulate everyone including that neighbors, even if they just moved in yesterday, and thus have nothing to do with keeping me alive. What the custom does do is: you wish everyone happiness, because one person celebrates their birthday (happiness [felix] being the Latin root of "gefeliciteerd"). Cheers and ride on!
I expect this ring to be like v0.3 but hyped like v2.0. I used to be a huge Samsung user and had the first galaxy watch, which broke prematurely. Tried to get watch 4 and had a bad experience. In my view their health wearables aren't really very good or dependable. At least certainly nowhere near their phones which are fairly rock solid.
Generally speaking, health/activity trackers are designed to help you figure out if you're getting enough activity, enough sleep, and the right type of sleep. All of which do lower the risk for various illnesses, if you actually use the data from them.
Ah Hora, this sounds like a bad love story. Starts with, oh Samsung you validate me and appreciate me for who I am......( not much later) I take that back ! You can keep your ring! I will never understand why anyone would pay a monthly subscription. Not to mention the index finger thing. Ha! With this ring I now pronounce you.....married.
I wouldn’t trust Samsung to track my health data. I’ve tried several versions of the Samsung watch. The exercise tracking is absolute garbage. It’s a grab bag of issues. Sometimes no gps lock. Sometimes gps lock but doesn’t actually track distance. Or it just stops in the middle of the run. Every version of watch has the same issues…
That's the kind of video I've always wanted to see after a huge presentation from these brands like Samsung, apple etc ❤❤❤

Apple can't even do their own Pulse Ox!
For those who follow tech, it's always been Samsung they are bigger then Google, Apple and Microsoft put together.
Samsung is way more creative than Apple fir the past 6 years. Apple stealing technology from Samsung and make it seem they are the originator.
I’m waiting for the iButtPlug so that Apple constantly knows what’s going on with my sphincter on a real time basis.
"Have a look at my ring" is never going to be an appealing invitation.
