- In this video I show a way that I used in the past and now recently as I wanted to be able to print a program on a Commodore 803 printer.
I thought you'd like this. The ink ribbon filled again with new ink. Listen to that beautiful sound of the matrix printer.
The command used to actually open the printer for output and list a basic program use the following.
OPEN 4,4,7:CMD 4:LIST
and to close the printer as an output device use the following
PRINT#4:CLOSE 4
I LOVE MY C64 ❤❤❤ FOREVER ❤❤❤❤
lovely work. ink and computer. i had this printer.. but i used it mostly for fun
That is the best reason to use it for !😀
I had the 803 and the optional tractor feed attachment. You could buy a little gizmo to reink the ribbons out of the computer mags of the time.
Very good video! I saw some videos about re-ink ribbons but it don't tell what kind of ink was used. Thank you!
Great video. I have a black MPs 803.:)
Надо не только штемпельной краски, но и машинного маслица накапать.
a lightmachine oil for the needles is I think also a good idea
@@justforthefunofit Да, лучше его. Это и для печатающей головки полезно и предотвращает быстрое высыхание красителя
This is a water based ink. Not good for printer head.
That is probably true, it could cause some erosion overtime. Do you know a better inkt alternative?
@@justforthefunofit there are oil based ink that are for metal stamps like counters and dates. Bought this and will try soon.
This is true, some inks are bad for impact-dotmatrix printers. Another bad ink is one used for calligraphy pens. The printhead needs that lubrication for the impact hammer pins, so oil-based ink should be better. Fortunately I still have a big bottle of dotmatrix ink that I bought over 15 years ago, along with the MacInker machine that does the reinking for convenience. This came from the Computer Friends company, which used to advertise in Commodore & PC magazines for years in the 1980s & 90s. They have been defunct for over a decade now though, but at least they were in business for ~3 decades. I went to their building to get my order of stuff & also met the owner. I have at least 7 different model dotmatrix printers so this comes in handy. Other people have made their own DIY reinking machines over the years. I had done a lot of reinking of ribbon cartridges in the past 15 years, especially for office dotmatrix printers (because we used triplicate forms), yet that bottle of ink has not not even gone down to 3/4 full yet, heh.
