Ben, love how much praise you put into Megs cooking. Its like a lesson to us guys as to how to help our wife gf ect. Truely enjoy and feel good about what they do in the kitchen.
One of the things I miss about my late husband is how he ALWAYS thanked me for dinner, and always told me it was delicious. Another thing I miss about him was his frequent, spontaneous shouting " I sure do love you" I ask you to ENJOY your spouse while you have them. They will be with Jesus, and having fun altogether too soon.
I saw Bri and Acre Homestead in your pig class and today acre homestead had a video on it. She said she really had a great time as did her sister. Both gave you AND Meg praises and loved Megs food! ❤ Congratulations.🎉
I'm not sure who makes those amazing close-up opening shots- but THANK YOU! Sometimes, in the midst of my own week, I forgot to stop and enjoy the beauty of rain, tiny growing things, and mud. Peace and blessings to you! ❤ PS: Your kids crack me up: the "fellowship" cloke in the beginnig and those closing shots. Priceless!
I don't know which part of your videos I loved the most... Ben outside working with the boys and Buggy ... Or inside with Ben bragging on Megs cooking , watching the boys help and Buggy chatting away !! She's so darn cute and so expressive !! Meg every time you fix a meal I wish I was there to enjoy it.. I have never seen anything that you have made that I wouldn't love to have some of !!! Ben has every right to Bragg on you !!! Meg you are awesome ! You guys are my favorite homesteading family !!!
Buggy, this old grandma really, really, REALLY likes your hair. So cute done up that way. You didnt have to keep pushing out of your face and we all could see your beautiful face. You are such a good helper for your mom and dad. Good job.
I love how your whole family rallies around dinner. I had hamburger thawed out for dinner, and I literally jumped off the couch and told my husband we were having Salisbury steak and mashed potatoes instead of hamburgers during this video. Thanks for the inspiration
Ben, if you want a pro grade slicer then check the auction sites. There are restaurants going out of business every day. I recently picked up a 10 inch LEM slicer ($500 retail) for about $180 from a sandwich shop that went out of business. In perfect shape. Can't wait until I can slice my own bacon.
The way that you as a family appreciate the help from each family member is or should be a lesson to us all. THANK YOU FOR YOUR GODLY AND CHRISTLIKE INFLUENCE.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love, love, love homemade Salisbury Steak!! All you need is some peas and you got the classic tv dinner without the funky feeling from the preservatives afterwards. Your bacon looks delicious as well. Good job!
We'd call them rissoles in Australia. I usually add finely diced onion, tomato, carrot, celery, an egg and bread crumbs before forming the patties. I'd never heard of Salisbury steak before I started watching youtube. Must be an American thing.
Hats-off to you awesome homesteaders! I was raised free-range in the piney hills of N Louisiana. Grew up huntin, fishin and playin in the woods. Many years ago I gave up beef and pork due to the overwhelming evidence of colon cancer and other diseases caused by meat consumption over time, including free-range, steroid free, and grass fed. My motivation was simple; I wanted to be around to experience the lives of my children and grandchildren as long as possible. Giving up meat was almost impossible for me, but I did it, and now at the tender age of 63, I enjoy excellent health and hopefully a long future with my family. I know you've probably heard this before, and quite aware of the push- back, but out of love and support I felt the need to post this. God bless you all!
I don’t understand why you guys don’t have twice as many followers !!!! I love your channel ❤. EVERYONE who watches needs to LIKE and SHARE this channel on social media sites. Let’s get these guys more followers ‼️‼️‼️
Hi Ben. You could try rolling up your slab of bacon before freezing it, then try putting it through the slicer rolled up, thereby creating the nice long slices that you are wanting.
Request: can we have a whole video about Buggy, please?? She warms my heart so much. I am always ‘searching’ for her in any clip. lol. Thank you Ben and Megan.
For those that criticize your cooking or lifestyle, just tell them “you do you, Boo!” A lot of the criticism comes from those that live in hypocrisy. You’re doing great!
Buggy-Her hair looked so nice. We hardly ever see her sweet face. Plus I just love her vocabulary. She seems to have absorbed every bit of knowlege she is exposed to. She could probably be running the homestead as well as some of the adults I've witnessed on other channels by the time she's ten. Plus she'll be an excellent cook and baker. Good job family, you all helped with her knowledge and experiences. Blessings
enjoy the rain...words of wisdom from the mouth of a toddler, she is such an old soul, she is going to mother and teach her new sibling, the ways of the world,,i just love how your boys chip in with everything....jobs done ,,truly blessed family xx
Love the videos and the knowledge but what I love the most is when you all have dinner together, and pray before your meals. I wish I had done that more when my kids were younger. Now I have to tell them we need to sit at the table and have dinner together instead of everyone going off to eat. This is so important and makes families stronger in my opinion. Thank you ❤❤
I love watching your videos, Ben and Meg you both are so good to each other and also the children. Buggy has got so mature this summer for the little tyke that she is but love watching her. And each of the boys are their own people, love the way they run around in their bare feet, I did that at their age and at 66 I still am barefeet more than I have shoes on. You two have such a wonderful household and homestead!!
Ben, I'm like you and your love of "dreary weather"...it truly makes my 💙 happy 😊. Also, Buggy's hair all done up was adorable! It makes her look more grown up, and we can really see her beautiful face 😊... love and prayers 🙏 to y'all!
I learn so much from your videos. I was raised on a farm. But nothing compared to what you two do. Yes, we had big garden and killed pigs and chickens. But nothing compared to you. So thank you for all the things im learning.
I made Salisbury steak and mashed potatoes last week I make a mushroom gravy. I also put onions and horseradish sauce in the hamburger along with all the other seasonings. Ben you can never have to much mash potatoes. Dinner looked delicious Meg.
Hubby loves my salsbury steak! I use Lipton onion soup mix in my hamburger plus more! He can’t have it right now as he goes in for cancer surgery on the 6th. So I couldn’t let him watch!!! He gets lentil soup!
I smile every time i hear Buggy...her outsized personality might be the biggest in the house. She is adorable and perhaps someday a TV professional...a news anchor or a reporter at a local TV channel...or some such thing? She is growing up on YT and never seems to mind to mimic or contribute totally original content. Someday your channel will feature her work and I predict it will be good! Thank you for allowing her to blossom and sharing her content...it is a joy!
That was one delicious looking meal there. Your wife is such a GREAT cook. I LOVE seeing how you all are living on the land that is awesome. Take care see y'all next time.
I love that your plates are the exact same ones that my mother had while I was growing up. I still have a few pieces of that Corelle set left even though my mother has passed on, so it puts a smile on my face when I see Meg serving dinner on them!
I inherited my mother-in-law's set of the same Corelle dishes. They are used every day and I add pieces when I find them. For some reason it warms my heart to see Meg serve her family meals on "my" dishes.
I love seeing the boys helping in the kitchen, cooking, doing dishes, and processing food. Those are some of the greatest skills that all kids should have. Great job, Meg and Ben. ❤
Now I’m starving lol. Have you ever made tomato gravy and biscuits? Talk about good! My ex Mother in Law taught me how to make it. She is from Tennessee. Fry the bacon, then make the tomato gravy using chopped tomatoes. Cut your big cat head biscuits in half horizontally and cover with gravy and bacon on the side. I haven’t made it in years. I just finished making 2 batches of broth, so Salisbury steaks & gravy may be on the menu soon! Mmm ☔️ Enjoy the rain!
Uuuuh, what a lovely and comfy video. I need to cook up some salisbury steak for my family, so that they feel as taken care of as you all look. Ben and Meg, thank you for letting us take part in your happiness and inspiring us. It shows so clearly in the videos how much you love each other❤
I have a Salisbury Steak TV dinner in the freezer now (remember, im your friend from the city) and wrestling with the thought now of throwing it out! You guys just raised the standard for this meal for about 50,000 people 😂😂 For Christmas we were gifted some delicious burgers from Omaha steaks that i need to use and I now know just the meal to make! Couldn't love you all more than I do and super excited for baby Hollar. ❤❤❤.
Opening Photography was terrific on this one... Just wanted to give you Kudos on that... next everything you share has something for me, even when I might not totally relate. For example the complete patience you had waiting for meat to cure... Something I would never have thought much about before starting to watch all the farm videos like yours and Justin and also Sow the land. So I started doing some Pickling and making Cole Slaw, canning etc. Now I "get it" Thank you to you and your family for allowing us to follow along in your journey!
Don't knock the 4 inch bacon. You can't eat it whole anyways. And i know you don't do corny sound effects, but Meg's eye roll when Ben said, "what's your recipe?" really could have used a "something". Hysterical. Love the spliced together B-roll of the weather and the farm. Excellent candid pig shots. You are so skilled with the camera.
I love the glimpses of life in your winter home. You were scaring me when you were touching that blade. I've cut my fingers twice very badly on them. Meg is a great cook with excellent resources to provide for the growth and health of her family. I love the homemade-ness lifestyle.
I frequently have the same reaction to similar situations, but not with Ben and blades. I guess it's because he makes very sharp knives. We both know even with great experience safety is key. FYI, I cringe the worst with saws.
I made a small change to my mashed potatoes by adding sour cream not milk, little stock of whatever I have on hand, and roast a bulb of garlic and add about 10 or so cloves to a batch about the size of yours. It makes the BEST mashed potatoes. I now have to make them every year for every holiday, and even people who never liked garlic love my potatoes. My MIL who likes nothing, asked for me to make them all the time. If you want to try just sub sour cream for the milk, and if too thick add stock of some kind, and butter, seasoning but add roasted garlic cloves. It's usually double or a little more then what you would use raw. The flavor is so good.
Well Meg, we just finished our first batch of rendered lard a few days ago. My husband just got his venison back from the processor. So, when he asked me what we should do for supper, I said venison burgers and French fries! I was so intrigued to try French fries cooked in home rendered pig lard. They were the best French fries we've ever had. Venison burgers were awesome too. Thanks for giving us the courage to try rendering for the first time.
Your kids crack me up. :) Buggie is the star of the show but she's really a reflection of the love and care from every one of you in the family. What a beautiful family.
Thanks for the smiles. I'm still smiling after the video ended. I must have missed a few. Prayers and blessings in the coming days/months... years. 😂 I don't have my own, but I really miss my step boys in the kitchen, mom and neice in for a visit.. I love that busy room stuff; just like at grandma's. Last time they were here, we canned salsa and tomatoes. I haven't eaten salsa since😂. I was telling myself to get the canner out this weekend. Thank you for your video and sharing your home.
We call that hamburger steak. Salisbury steak is made from tenderized cube steak, at least in Texas it is. But we love hamburger steak too. Actually having cube steak, mashed potatoes, and cream gravy for supper tonight here.
My mom also made tenderized steak meat. FROM the German Butcher shop, clean meats. I remember she beat the steak. Always with onion and mushrooms. FROM SE MICHIGAN.
Looks like you will have plenty of bacon to get you through the bacon days of life.. A little bacon now and then is always nice , or a lot .. lol Nice to show how an entire pig can be used when you put your heart into it. Happy day to you all , and all the good blessings you deserve to have.Amen
Buggy is such a delight, I just adore the way she listens to everything that's going on, even when she seems completely involved in whatever she's going. All your children are very smart, you can see it in the way they all love to learn new things. But Buggy is just so darn cute... I love her at the end of this vid saying 'it disappeared' about her delicious dinner.
Love your close ups❤. I separated my artichoke plant sprouts finally after 2 years. Hoping they all survive! The piggies are getting so big. And I can only imagine the bacon smell. Ben I lived in Porterville for 18 years and love the misty cool days also. MegOMG! That Buggie has such a vocabulary ❤❤❤
Buggy is such a joy. I know I have said it before but her use of language is amazing for her age. The boys bring back the days of happiness and fulfillment for me when I was raising my four boys. They all were an integral part of the kitchen and food prep for meals and canning. Just like your boys. You are such great parents.
My husband made Salisbury steak last week for the first time and it was SO good. It was always my favorite TV dinner as a kid LOL. From scratch is sooooo much better! Definitely becoming part of our regular rotation.
Salisbury steak gravy is even better with mushrooms added.. Yum ! OHHHH. And after the burgers are cooked, I add the burgers to the gravy so the flavor from the burgers mixes with the gravy, and the gravy seeps into the burgers... I'll do it for 10-15 minutes on a slow simmer. Extra Yummy !
Ben, love how much praise you put into Megs cooking. Its like a lesson to us guys as to how to help our wife gf ect. Truely enjoy and feel good about what they do in the kitchen.

Little mini-Meg busy and so articulate in the background. ❤️
Like the way the boys help with Neal prep.. and love your prayers at the dinner table… at end of your video
Great to see the boys helping out with cleaning pans while mother cooks..
They all switch off doing dishes every night. They are a big help!
You guys are my favorite videos to watch! May God abundantly bless you all!
Buggy is becoming a very optimistic young lady. The cutest ever!

Whoa😮 pro tip! Nice!
We almost scored a big Hobart slicer at an auction last year. Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be for that one!
Restaurant supply stores usually have a used section in their slicer departments.

Ben how is Meg pregnancy going? Hope all is well going great for her. Sending blessing to her and the baby. When is she due?
Meg said baby due in May when she first announced being pregnant!!!!!❤
Yep, due in May. Aside from feeling a bit full of baby, lol, all is going great!
Meg,I hope you have a girl.....do you know???
The volcano of gravy! Yes plz.
Buggy is such a joy. I know I have said it before but her use of language is amazing for her age. The boys bring back the days of happiness and fulfillment for me when I was raising my four boys. They all were an integral part of the kitchen and food prep for meals and canning. Just like your boys. You are such great parents.
It's what my husband calls real food, it's all he wanted to eat after a week of camping 😅
OMG! I’ve only ever had Salisbury streak as part of a Swanson tv dinner circa 1966! Thank you for sharing….adding to rotation!
My husband made Salisbury steak last week for the first time and it was SO good. It was always my favorite TV dinner as a kid LOL. From scratch is sooooo much better! Definitely becoming part of our regular rotation.
Ben, it's "washyoursister" sauce. Lol
