The first van I did was a 1983 T3, the first of the water-cooled and still the best Transporter.

Next time drill the spot welds. Much easier. Less dirty and destructive. The rails of the seats, keep them clean and just silicone or a hair of grease.

I've got captains chairs in my T4 the arms can restrict a bit getting into the rear from the front .

Yes, we noticed this as well! Still, the arm rests make driving more comfortable 😊

The brown looks so much better.
Instead of grease try using Silicone Spray.
It doesn’t attract dust
