    Hi! Thank you for the content very helpful ^^
    2 questions:
    1. Can I find a talent agent without being an ACTRA member?
    2. I did background acting in another country, after providing the proof (invoice, etc.) can I get them counted?

    • @OliviaG
      @OliviaG  Рік тому

      1. yes you can but you're considered non union so you'll be in that category.
      2. No, I don't think so. I'm 99% sure it wont. Actra has many different divisions just within Canada and that in itself gets complicated. You can always email them though to ask/ get more guidance :)

    hey - you say actra members cannot work on non-union sets, but what if the project is non-paying?

    • @OliviaG
      @OliviaG  Рік тому +1

      Then I suppose you're volunteering your time. Haha! Also consider if there is any way to track you to this non union project. Are you willing to risk your membership if something came up? It's up to you ultimately but the "rule" is that if you're an ACTRA member, you agree to abide by union rules of only working on UNION productions. If you still are unsure you can always reach out to ACTRA to triple check :) I hope that helps.

    Hi again, do you know any other ways to find background work, other than having agents? Can you apply directly for background work without agents?

    • @OliviaG
      @OliviaG  4 роки тому +2

      Sometimes there are casting notices for background work on some sites like EBOSS but typically I would only suggest going through an agent for background work.. unless you’re well connected already-hope that helps :)

    Is there a difference between Actra Toronto and like Actra Bc/Actra Canada?

    • @OliviaG
      @OliviaG  4 роки тому +1

      Hey! I haven't worked in BC, I've only visited. I am aware that the UBCP/ACTRA is a branch of ACTRA. They also have slightly different resources on their page. What I do know is that if you are an ACTRA member from Toronto you can work in BC. Hope that helps in some way.

    27.50 I thought actors made more than that for instance Stephen amell gets paid 125,000 for every episode of arrow and the big bang theory got 1 million per episode. Can someone please explain this to me thank you

    • @OliviaG

      This video is to join ACTRA through the background route. So background union ACTRA members get paid the rates I mention. Not principal leading actors/actresses. That’s a completely different category. I did mention that in my video. Does that make sense?

    for the 200 days/1600 hours, does any shows you work on prior to signing up count, or only after you started your membership?

    • @OliviaG

      It starts counting AFTER you sign up for the card/membership. I hope that answers your question and if not feel free to write back here & I can clarify. :)

    Great video, very informative. Question, I recently got ACTRA Apprentice to my shock, I'm wondering will I now recieve less background after getting many jobs as Non union? Also, should I be with any specific background agency to get more ACTRA background work? Or my current ML talent agency will suffice?

    • @OliviaG
      @OliviaG  4 роки тому +1

      Congrats on becoming an apprentice! As for if you'll get more or less work, that really depends on many things... If I were you I would sign up with a few more background agencies (if you are wanting to keep yourself busy doing background work full time). Remember not all agents get all the shows. So diversify. Once we get out of quarantine many productions will be looking for extras and its supposed to be an extremely busy next few years. Yet there are no guarantees... I hope that helped!
