This movie has a very critical view on the Society, wich is a point that makes me like it so much. Sometimes I was nearly crying. Ist an amazing work from the Wachowskis.
The Wachowskis never fail to pose a poignant view of the human from the outside. An outside view, so that we see the characters as reflections of ourselves in the mirror--instead of relating, and recognizing mistakes as our own.
What I like so much about this movie is that it is really a work of art and it was made to be one. And when I listen to this, I ask myself "Why is it that I had never heard of these amazing composers before ?"
That's it... the music from my dream... This is from my dreamthat night i came to your room this is the music i heard in my head, somehow i gave it to you, i've been working on this piece for weeks now.. and suspect you heardit in corporated into your dream... i called it the cloud atlas sextet...this is obviously the result of our collaboration.. the atlas i believe is the only thing i havedone in my life that has value,,, yet i know i could not have written it.. if i hadn't met youthere are whole movements in the atlas that i wrote imagining us meeting again and againin diffrent lives, in different ages,,,, yes something as important as this cannnot be described as yours or mine it is ours.... that is exactly how i feel vyvyan...
These Cloud Atlas songs (particularly the ending credits version of the theme) gets to me. If you like this, check out "The Road To Zanarkand", it's from the video game Final Fantasy 10, and if you haven't played it maybe you won't feel as much emotion as one who enjoyed that love story, but it's still a GREAT piano piece and I am reminded of it when I hear the Cloud Atlas songs (this one and the "End Title" song).
Some of the chords used in this piece remind me of the music that was played in Batman Begins when Bruce suffers from the loss of his parents. The dissonance, I suppose, reinforces his feelings of despair and anguish.
It is a Fm, C#m, Bbm, and F#m, but they all suspend the root at the top with the second. So 1st inversion with the second instead of the root, but it resolves every time.
On the movie, this song comes in much darker as halle berrys car sinks in the lake. This version is not presented on the soundtrack. Anybody know what im speaking of and where I can find it? Or at least what piano keys those were on the part im speaking of?

Anyone know who composed and play this ? What is the name of the original song? I’ve been playing this piece on piano for a while but I would like to know where it comes from..
The title is accurate, it's the Cloud Atlas Sextet from the movie "Cloud Atlas", the soundtrack was composed by Tom Tykwer, Reinhold Heil and Johnny Klimek :) The fictional composer is one of the main characters, Robert Frobisher
I know a very sweet type of melancholy is present in many of Debussy or Chopin's pieces. But does anyone know of any other composer that sounds almost very similar to this type of wandering sadness?
This is it...the song from my dream...
“A lesson in futility, the boy is as useless as the clap, fortunately he will be easier to get rid of.” -Vyvyan Ayrs
🤡
This is that song? In that episode? OMG it’s been years i am searching for this song 😱😱😱
"The Atlas, I believe, is the only thing I have done in my life that has value".
That is the song I always search! Not the Sextet, but this! Thank you! I hope I manage to save it for later this time
This is the Sextet! The other one is "The Atlas March". They get mistaken very often.
Debussy, Chopin, Eric Satie and more .. you must hearing the true virtuose of piano who influenced a lot of compositor like this melody

Yeah your right.^^ We shouldnt forget his work on this awesome masterpiece.
The Wachowskis never fail to pose a poignant view of the human from the outside. An outside view, so that we see the characters as reflections of ourselves in the mirror--instead of relating, and recognizing mistakes as our own.
I also loved it and I am playing all the songs on the piano, specially the sextet. Best movie ever.
I watched it two times total, and I cried both times
This piece really gets my emotions flowing this has so much depth it's like rollercoaster or watching the waves crash back and forth on a stormy day
I couldn't agree more. Since I am 14 this piece is some kind of haunting me - in a good way, but also preventing me from sleeping in the night...
This is so beautiful. I listen to this on repeat. The only thing that is driving me crazy is that there is no sheet music for this phenomenon.
Hello there - person from 11 years in the past. Now in 2024, we can use AI to generate the sheet from just the sound.
What I like so much about this movie is that it is really a work of art and it was made to be one. And when I listen to this, I ask myself "Why is it that I had never heard of these amazing composers before ?"
I didnt find this movie back in 2016. It found me. One of a kind... master class movie. ☁️🌠
The cloud atlas movie is based through different periods of time and lifetimes. This song reflects the message perfectly. What a masterpiece.
The entire soundtrack are songs from my dreams.

Ive listened tonthis master piece for over 10 years
The best movie of all time. And, the most important movie of all time.
These Cloud Atlas songs (particularly the ending credits version of the theme) gets to me.

You should have just reccommended the entire soundtracks of I, III - VIII, X, XII, Type-0, and CC.
MisterHeroman
definitely agree on the FFVII soundtrack. "Final Fantasy VII Main Theme" with full orchestra is glorious
Chad Froes Actually, the guy didn't say VII.. But I agree with you. FF7 main theme orchestral version is beautiful.
That's it...That's my melody!
omggggg YES THIS IS MY MALADY!!! I MEAN MELODY!!!
I finished learning this song today and I think it is the only thing I have done this year that has value
You now know how to play the 6 Dim scale. Have you watched many of Barry Harris videos on how to unlock more of the scale?
I had no idea about this and I just googled it and wow! thanks man
Perfection of half harmonics of pain

Aaaaand thanks again. This is beauty. Thanks for posting.
I have been looking for this piece for some time, thanks dude:)
Six Layers on a Piano....Outstanding..!!
incredible music, and excellent movie
At 2:03 you can definitely hear bits of the Beethoven's moonlight sonata. Second sheet of three to the bottom, right before repetition.
Right? Pretty little piece of music. Heartwrenching. Wicked voicings.
No pianosheet could be found. Maybe it will appear to me in a dream.
Well done! Greets, Pianist - Norman

such a beautiful song...
I wanted to listen to it for the first time in 4 years.
1:18 till 1:34 had me in tears. beautiful. who is the pianist/s or composer for this?
Tom Tykwer, Reinhold Reil and Johnny Klimek composed it. I couldn't narrow it down any more than that.
I love that bit
From Cloud Atlas, the movie. Released in 2012. Great movie. I've just seen it.
So beautiful music instruments and sad

Actually, the piece is called "Temple of Sacrifice," and it's a piano arrangement of the original song.
Oh, well thanks for letting me know :)
No, this is not "temple of sacrifice", this is "cloud atlas sextet for piano", a bonus track that was never on the original soundtrack.
