Well ahead of the "professional critics" as well; that it was not even nominated for an Oscar shows just how far ahead of its time it was, and remains.

That & the theme of reincarnation is probably the reason why it wasn't excepted in the western world, but still it will remain 1 of my favorites.

This movie should be seen by every human on Earth. Beautiful, stunning, incredible piece. A masterpiece that explores what it means to be human beyond the nuances of our every day lives, a masterpiece that brings together people across time, distance, and history. The most accurate depiction of existence I have ever seen. The ending sent chills down my spine. Possibly the most amazing quote I have ever heard in my life: "What is an ocean but a multitude of drops."

I watched this movie during Hurricane Sandy. I live in New Jersey at the Jersey Shore, where the entire town was completely devastated, we had no power for a month, and it was just chaos. So, to get out of my house, I drove like a half hour to where they had finally got power and went to the movies, and this movie was playing, and I remember watching this movie and being like, wow, just wow. Then I went back and saw it 3 more times in the next 3 weeks, and would NOT shut up about it and how life altering it was. That movie really helped me get thru dealing with the utter chaos that was going on around me, and show me some true beauty to life when everything around me was falling apart and was devastated.

I remember reading the reviews of Cloud Atlas after a press-viewing. I saw comments of love and comments of hate, such is our world. After seeing it and walking out of the theatre I immediately felt like turning around and going to see it again.
A truly fantastic and brave movie, I doubt we'll see anything like it for a long time if ever again. When I saw this movie didn't generate any respect at the Oscars, I almost felt sick at the current state of cinema and of what's considered a "good" film

Excellent movie. I ordered the book and it should be here next week. I did shed tears when I watched it.. now I really do believe that we are all bound with someone from womb to tomb.. I really can't describe this film. It hit me in a thousand ways. I'm glad there's ppl out there that understand it... I hope the best for all of you.

I just got done watching the movie for the third time, and it still leaves me in tears. By now, most movies have no effect on me, but Cloud Atlas is a powerful story. Those who can stay unaffected by it do not understand the message and beauty of it.

I just finished watching this film.. I was so moved. I documented my feelings immediately.. I felt something, a reassurance. I've been doing protesting and civil disobedience work in California and have always answered to people "change the world" when asked what I want to do in life. An inherent yet totally external force confirmed that there WILL be a time when power will bow to love, and when we will all as humanity resume our divine purposes..

To be is to be perceived. And so to know thyself is only possible through the eyes of the other. The nature of our immortal lives is in the consequences of our words and deeds that go on apportioning themselves throughout all time. Our lives are not our own; from womb to tomb, we are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime and every kindness we birth our future.
    ~ Sonmi-451

Loved this movie. Watched it stoned out of my mind the first time. Didn't really get it/remember it, but something really stuck with me. The next day I re-watched it on a flight back home. Then the next day. Amazing.. The theme of interconnectedness was great, but what touched me were the different people, across different lives, risking and giving their lives for what they believed in. I think, we might only really start to be alive, when we find a reason strong enough to give our lives up for.

All that I dare say, is that love compelled this song. It is the byproduct of our great emotions and innovation. Music drives those who can see the meaning of every note. It is the definition of love intirely. What a life we have indeed.

    # months ago I lost the most important person in my life my Father. After seeing him in the hospital I went home I l looked for this song as I had just watched the movie the night before and couldn't forget it I came across this version and this alone got me through it and anyone who truly understands the beauty of this song will understand. Thank you to whoever uploaded this and extended it you truly saved me that day and every 11th of every month I listen to this overandoverand reminiscence

This was quite honestly the best movie I've seen in a long time. It had a mix of everything; love, drama, comedy, action, the whole shebang. I just bought the movie and, I gotta watch it again. It fills me with...well, I dunno how to explain it. The message of hope and the consequences of one's actions through history really touches me. I can't explain it, all I can quote is, "From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future."

  • @dpm00se
    @dpm00se 11 років тому +6

It's truly amazing how this piece reaches out and caresses your brain. Where we are, Who we are, Why we are, and When we are, loses all meaning except that we always have always have control over where we go. Not always of How we get there. That we have a choice. A driving force to ask the same old question of "What happens next?" This is the divine music from my dreams. In all it's complexity. A grand force, a paradox wrapped in an enigma.

Your words of “Where are we? Who are we? Why are we and when are we?” instantly reminded me of Exogenesis Symphony by Muse. Those words are lyrics in part one of the symphony: Overture. I think you might be impressed with Exogenesis if you love Cloud Atlas. Matthew Bellamy is an amazing composer.

Every once in a while a film, book, speech, sermon, movement or song comes along and touches everyone to the core. It is so much more than entertainment. So much more important than a good story, melody or even message. This film will grab your soul to tell you that you are more important to the grand scheme of things than modern religion, politics or philosophy would have you believe. I adore this film and what it has given me and the rest of us who take it in.

This reminds me of the beauty of true love and heartbreak.
I happen to be going through heartbreak right now.
To be honest the feelings I'm feeling right now words could never touch but let me try..
Sometimes it hurts so much I cannot bear it.
Then I remember every beautiful memory we shared. I get to keep that forever. I might have to let you go but.. I'll never let go of the memories. From what it felt like the first time my lips met yours, to the first time I heard the words "I love you" leave your lips and enter my heart. In the physical world I have to let you go. In my heart you will live forever..
This is beautiful for none can ever take that away from me.
Keanna Marie Hiltbrand I'll always love you so deeply even I cannot understand.
This piece of music reminds me of you because maybe.. I can fall in love with you again in another life...

Well spoken. I felt much the same. This is one of the most memorable movies I have ever watched, not just because of it's beauty and depth, it's an odyssey trough different genres and fiction, and masterly so.

This song is beautiful. If you close your eyes and listen its both sad and happy....it reminds me that joy sometimes comes with great sacrifice...and it brings tears to my eyes.

I closed my eyes and found myself remembering and reliving painful memories.

No idea what's going on but this sounds sad and pretty at the same time. Kind of makes me feel lonely but almost makes me feel like I'm dancing in a field of flowers. Or a field of marshmallows with some random Swedish supermodel.

So many said that this movie was boring and it was very confusing and I think that once you get captured in what's the message you'd love it. I thought this was one the most beautiful films I have seen in a long time. Definitely recommend it to anyone. Yes it may not be for everyone but give it a chance :)

"From womb to tomb, we are bound to others. Past and present. And by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future."
This shows what Budhhists believe in, it shows Karma and well that is what we all do. Even though I am not a Buddhist this movie brings together everything that is important in life! I am a huge film buff and this is one movie that sticks in my mind and will do so forever"
