  • Maggie Lorenz, director of the Wakáŋ Tipi Center, introduces Wakáŋ Tipi, a site that is sacred to Dakota people near downtown St. Paul MN. Wakáŋ Tipi (in English, "Dwelling Place of the Sacred") includes burial mounds dating back thousands of years and a sacred cave that has been the site of important Dakota ceremonies. The video has been developed as part of CGEE's Big River Journey (bigriverjourney.org) and Waters to the Sea: Mississippi River Adventure (https:waterstothesea.org/mississippi) K-12 learning programs and is also featured in our Multimedia Gallery kiosks (hamline.edu/education/cgee/missrivergallery/).
