  • Just for fun! I'm not trying to break speed record over here. But yes, the bike can do 60+ mph in its 1st gear. It was a challenge not to pop a wheelie while keeping the front end down, but it was a fun acceleration test for my 2016 GSF 1250 Bandit. I started the timer during the first frame of movement in the video. Enjoy!

    Why shifting at 8k?

The way these bikes are geared and mapped for power delivery .. 'ALL' and I really do mean ALL the torque is delivered to the rear wheel at the lower end of the RPM band. The max power hits between 4k and 8K so there is absolutely no benefit to red lining these bikes - they simply aren't set up to perform that way. I could have squeezed a little more omph out of there bike by going to 9k but being in a parking lot and trying to keep the front end on the ground I think I did OK! I wasn't trying to break any records. Continued safe rind to you!

Indeed the bike is capable of much more .... I was just trying to focus on keeping the front wheel on the ground! Continued safe riding to you.
